Eminem joked about abandoning possible Ben Johnson diss track after Lions OC’s reported return to Detroit

Eminem sounded very happy that Ben Johnson was staying with the Lions.

Noted Detroit Lions fan Eminem sounded very happy to hear Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was staying in the Motor City.

One of the hottest names on this NFL coaching cycle, Johnson reportedly decided on Tuesday to stay with Detroit after the team fell in the NFC title game on Sunday rather than take a head coaching job elsewhere.

Well, Eminem joked that Johnson staying means he can “stop recording the diss track,” hinting that he was hypothetically ready to poke some fun at Johnson for leaving his favorite team.

However, the famous rapper seems more than glad to keep Johnson around for another possible Super Bowl run this fall.

The Lions have been one of the best stories of the NFL season, and Eminem is one of the team’s biggest fans.

He showed up to the NFC championship game and exchanged in some spirited, NSFW banter with the San Francisco 49ers fans in attendance.

However, he still sounds ready and willing to support his team, no matter what. Johnson’s return helps the Lions tremendously (and apparently keeps the coach from getting dissed on the next Eminem album).

A photo of Eminem flipping double birds at the 49ers crowd had NFL fans making so many jokes

Those arms don’t look heavy.

The Detroit Lions made the trip to Santa Clara, looking for the first Super Bowl berth in the franchise’s history. And it turned out that Dan Campbell’s team wasn’t alone with the A-list support.

Lions fan and 15-time Grammy winner Eminem was in a suite at Levi’s Stadium to support his hometown team. And let’s just say that Eminem wasn’t shying away from any of the trash talk Niners fans threw his way.

A photo hit Twitter/X on Sunday, showing Eminem flip the double birds at the Levi’s Stadium crowd. (Warning: Obscene gesture, obviously)

What a photo.

And of course, NFL fans had jokes about the shot.

Eminem, a Detroit native, begs Matthew Stafford to ‘just let us have this one’

Eminem shared a message for Matthew Stafford ahead of tonight’s Rams-Lions game, begging Stafford to let Detroit “have this one”

The Detroit Lions haven’t played a home postseason game in 30 years. They haven’t won a playoff game in 32 years. It’s been a long, long time since this franchise experienced any level of success outside of the regular season.

It’s why Detroit-native Eminem is begging Matthew Stafford to do him a favor and let the Lions win tonight at Ford Field.

Eminem is a big Lions fan and has supported them for decades, even making an appearance on “Hard Knocks” when Detroit was on it before the 2022 season. He badly wants to see his Lions win, but he knows in order for that to happen, they’ll have to beat Stafford.

“Stafford. What’d I say? You owe me this favor, bro,” he said in a message for the Rams QB. “I was there for you when you won it. I was there for you. I was right there. I rapped for you, Stafford! Bro, I rapped for you. Can you just let us have this one? Just this one.”

Spoiler alert: Stafford will most certainly not let Detroit “have this one.” He’s going to try to snatch the souls of everyone in the building tonight by beating the Lions on their own turf.

Eminem has a message for Rams QB Matthew Stafford

Legendary rapper Eminem has a message for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford as he returns to Detroit

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will make his return to Detroit on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Detroit Lions versus Los Angles Rams game will be televised on NBC.

Detroit legend Eminem is asking for a favor from former Georgia quarterback Stafford as he plays in Detroit for the first time since the Lions traded him in 2021.

The Lions are hosting the Rams in their first home playoff game since 1994.  Eminem performed during the halftime of the 2022 Super Bowl, where the Rams defeated the Bengals to give Stafford his only career Super Bowl victory. Now, Eminem is asking for Stafford to return the favor.

Can you just let us have this one?

Eminem and all of Detroit will be watching Stafford, who spent 12 seasons with the Lions and was the first pick in the 2009 NFL draft, as he takes on their precious Detroit Lions.

Stafford helped the Lions make the playoffs for the first time since 1999, but was unable to win a postseason game during his time with Detroit. He holds most of Detroit’s passing records.

Stafford bounced back and threw for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns this season. Stafford was selected to the Pro Bowl and is hoping to make another Super Bowl run.

And the fans frolicked.

Just your everyday conversation between Eminem and Al Michaels

The greats, Al Michaels and Eminem, were complimenting each other’s work

Super Bowl 56 has come and gone. The memories will last.

The day after we got another one as video surfaced of Eminem, one of the halftime performers, chatting it up with legendary broadcaster Al Michaels.

There is no generation gap between people who are icons in their respective industries.

“You’re the best in show,” Michaels told the rapper, in a video posted to Instagram.

“You’re the GOAT [greatest of all-time],” Eminem reciprocated. “I’m telling you, I was telling your wife — since I was a little kid, all the way until now, I watch (bad) games when you’re doing them, just because, right?”
