38 photos from the Panthers’ trip to Super Bowl XXXVIII

One of the greatest Super Bowls in history took place 20 years ago. But unfortunately for the Carolina Panthers, it didn’t end with the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy.

As we get ready for the biggest game of the year, let’s look back at the best shots from Super Bowl XXXVIII:

The legend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce continues to grow, with his visibility increasing beyond the football field. Another example occurred on the golf course, of all places, featuring an iconic pop star.

World famous entertainer Justin Timberlake appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night to share an exciting experience at the 8AM Golf Invitational at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas with two Chiefs stars.

Timberlake recalled a golf tournament with Fallon, Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes for charity that had a hilarious moment — following Fallon’s successful shot on a hole, he celebrated with Timberlake only to be unexpectedly joined by the Chiefs duo.

“I saw my life flash before my eyes; he went up and did one of those, you know, when they jump, and I was like he’s doing it,” said Timberlake, referring to Kelce’s playful ‘tackle’ celebration. “I have to do it, and I forgot that he weighs like 80 pounds more than me.”

Timberlake jokingly said he couldn’t move his neck for a week after the celebratory tackle. He also confirmed that he does text occasionally with Kelce but not at the moment because he’s busy right now, referring to the Chiefs preparing for this Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

Justin Timberlake recounts to Jimmy Fallon that time Travis Kelce knocked him down on a golf course

Justin Timberlake had to go for it with Travis Kelce, and it hurt.

Travis Kelce is a BIG dude (6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, to be exact). But Justin Timberlake went for the celebratory shoulder-to-shoulder up-in-the-air move anyway.

Wait, we’re getting ahead of ourselves here. Let’s rewind.

Timberlake was on The Tonight Show with his pal, Jimmy Fallon, and they remembered when Fallon knocked in a golf shot from the sand at a celebrity golf tournament. They were playing alongside Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, and when Fallon improbably put the ball in the cup, Kelce started running around to celebrate. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end hugged Fallon, then went shoulder-to-shoulder with Timberlake, who got knocked down and reported a sore neck after.

The video footage is priceless:

After playing pro-am with Justin Timberlake, Cameron Young can’t stop birdie feeling at WWT Championship

“I saw his name on the scorecard and I thought that must be kind of someone else named Justin Timberlake.”

LOS CABOS, Mexico – Ever since Cameron Young teed it up with Justin Timberlake on Wednesday during the pro-am at the World Wide Technology Championship, he can’t stop that feeling, to borrow the song title and catchy lyrics from one of the musician and songwriter’s hit tunes.

“I actually had no idea I was playing with him,” Young said. “I saw his name on the scorecard and I thought that must be kind of someone else named Justin Timberlake, but it was not.”

One day later, on a warm, sunny day when the wind failed to blow, Young couldn’t stop the birdie feeling at El Cardonal Golf Course at Diamante, channeling the power game of course designer Tiger Woods and beating the course into submission with seven birdies in all. Young posted 7-under 65, three strokes off the first-round lead held by Cameron Percy.

Young is making his first start of the FedEx Cup Fall – he last appeared at the BMW Championship, the second of three FedEx Cup Playoff events in August – but his game showed no rust as he hit all 14 fairways and, depending who is counting, all 18 greens.

“It was close, but I don’t know if it was quite that,” Young said of hitting every green in regulation. “It’s been years I feel like since I’ve actually been home for that long. Just the ability to go out and really try some things and work through some issues that I felt like I had was honestly, one, was kind of fun for me, I haven’t had the chance to do that without the pressure of an event coming up in a long time, and two, I think very productive. I think I learned some things in my golf swing. It’s nice to come out and see ’em kind of work in the first competitive round.”

At No. 17 in the Official World Golf Ranking (and No. 18 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings), Young is the top-ranked player in the field this week and he’s just two spots behind Tommy Fleetwood for being the best-ranked player in the world without a PGA Tour title. Young, 26, said there was a time where he was pressing for that first win but he’s realized it’s a matter of when not if he’ll hoist a trophy and is no longer sweating it.

“I think I’ve kind of come to terms with the fact that I’ve played plenty of golf that’s worthy of winning a golf tournament out here,” he said. “Obviously, it hasn’t worked out that way yet, but I think I’ve played plenty of good golf and I fully believe that that golf can win a tournament out here. So I’ve let go of it a little bit and I’m much more focused on trying to get better as much as I can.”

Michael Kim has one victory under his belt at the 2018 John Deere Classic, but the quest for a second title has been a long and winding road. Since his lone triumph, the former Cal Bears golfer’s game went off the rails, at one point missing 25 consecutive cuts and tumbling outside the top 1,000 in the world. Kim, 30, has climbed back to No. 118 entering this week and opened with 64.

“It was just super solid,” Kim said. “I probably went into trouble just once or twice today and just a really solid day that I could have shot even lower if I made a couple more putts.”

Villegas, who has four Tour titles to his credit but hasn’t won since 2014, posted a bogey-free 64. It marked the 41-year-old Villegas’s lowest score since the second round of the 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii and he hit all 14 fairways for the first time since the final round of the 2007 RBC Canadian Open. Villegas has made just 10 starts and three cuts this season – with a T-48 at the Puerto Rico Open his best showing – and entered the week at No. 224 in the FedEx Cup standings.

“Low scoring’s out there as you can see on the leaderboard,” he said, “and it’s going to be that type of week, so we’ve got to keep pushing.”

The bar features golf simulators, bowling lanes and tons more.

On Sept. 20, a sports bar in New York City called “T-Squared” opened its doors. The bar, which boasts four Full Swing golf simulators, four bowling lanes and 35 televisions, is co-owned by Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake, in partnership with 8AM Golf, which owns Miura Golf and Golf Magazine/Golf.com among other golf-related properties.

“Justin and I thought it would be cool to create a place that combines our favorite things and brings people together to just have a great time,” Woods said in a release.

T-Squared also features the largest indoor TV screen in the city at 200 inches. In total, the space measures 22,000 square feet.

NSYNC is officially back after sharing behind-the-scenes look at first song in more than 20 years

NSYNC is back. Hear a preview of the group’s new song in more than 20 years.

After more than two decades, NSYNC is officially back with a new song that will debut later this month.

The group appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this week ahead of announcing a new single.

Ahead of November’s Trolls Band Together, the 1990s/2000s boy band has reunited to produce a new song for the film called “Better Place” that will release on Friday, Sept. 29.

Taylor Swift had the most relatable reaction to seeing NSYNC reunite at the VMAs

Band member Justin Timberlake, who voices one of the main characters in the Trolls movies, shared a behind-the-scenes look at the five NSYNC members getting back together to record the new song.

It’s an exciting moment for folks who grew up listening to the pop outfit, as the early sounds from the new track sound just as impressive as the original run was.

Yes, it does feel incredibly surreal to have NSYNC back in action for new music, as most of its biggest fans were still in grade school when the group was in its heyday.

However, it’s time to travel back to the days of listening to “Bye Bye Bye” on the radio as your parents drove you home from school because NSYNC is so back, and it sounds like they’re taking us to a … better place.

Justin Timberlake invests in par-3 golf course in South Carolina

“Making golf more accessible, less intimidating, and more fun is a passion of mine,” Timberlake said.

Justin Timberlake used to have his name on a title sponsorship of a PGA Tour stop in Las Vegas. He’s also a regular on the celebrity pro-am circuit.

Now the musician and actor has signed on as investor in a par-3 golf course, according to thestate.com.

Timberlake is involved with 8AM Golf, which is part of Nicklaus Companies. 8AM recently bought a 35-percent stake in 3’s Greenville Golf in Greenville, South Carolina.

Originally called Crosswinds, the course is owned by Davis Sezna, who bought the 30-year-old course four years ago. The name fits better with the par-3 layout but also with the theme of golf, food and beverage and fun. Senza tells thestate.com that 60 percent of the business will not be related to golf but with the menu, the entertainment associated with the course.

The 3’s was built as an 18-hole course but now has 12 in addition to a 6 ½-acre short-game area, a “humps and bumps” putting course as well as a kid course.

“The 3’s concept is one I’m extremely excited about,” Timberlake said in a news release. “Making golf more accessible, less intimidating, and more fun is a passion of mine, and that’s exactly what 3’s accomplishes with its 12-hole, par-3 layout and its relaxed, ‘All are welcome’ vibe.”

“The Shack” is renovated for better food and beverage service and will have what Sezna claims will be the biggest ice machine in golf. The venue will have seating indoor and out for dining. The plans call for an 11 p.m. closing time and that includes the golf activities.

Sezna is looking at expanding the concept other markets, including Nashville, Scottsdale and Vegas.
