MSU target, 4-star LB Dylan Williams hints at commitment announcement later this week

It appears one of the Spartans’ top targets in the 2024 class will be committing later this week

It appears one of the Spartans’ top targets in the 2024 class will be committing later this week.

On Tuesday evening, four-star linebacker Dylan Williams of Long Beach, Calif. hinted at a possible commitment on Friday. Michigan State is considered one of his finalist schools, with Oregon, UCLA, Miami (FL) and Washington also in the picture.

Williams ranks as the No. 17 linebacker and No. 181 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He is also listed as the No. 17 player from California.

Williams took an official visit to Michigan State last month, and the Spartans appear to be in the hunt for his commitment. He is reportedly, however, leaning towards Oregon with 247Sports recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong entering a crystal ball in the Ducks’ favor last month.

4-star LB Dylan Williams projected to pick Oregon over MSU, UCLA, others

It appears Michigan State is going to come up short in the race for a big-time west coast linebacker in the 2024 class

It appears Michigan State is going to come up short in the race for a big-time west coast linebacker in the 2024 class.

Oregon has emerged as the favorite to beat out Michigan State, UCLA and others for four-star linebacker Dylan Williams of Long Beach, Calif. 247Sports recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong submitted a crystal ball in favor of the Ducks for Williams on Thursday.

Williams ranks as the No. 17 linebacker and No. 174 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2024 class. He holds offers from more than 30 schools, including Michigan State.

Williams has been a big-time target for the Spartans in the 2024 class. He took an official visit to Michigan State earlier this month, and it appeared the Spartans were in a good position to win his recruitment. So this would be a tough blow should Michigan State yet again come up just short for an elite recruit.

Ducks pick up a pair of predictions to land elite 4-star players in 2024 class

The Ducks picked up predictions to land the No. 60 overall player and No. 175 overall player in the 2024 class on Thursday.

The Oregon Ducks are in the middle of official visit season at the moment, and it appears that things are going swimmingly for Dan Lanning and his staff.

While there are loads of high-end 4-star players and a handful of 5-stars both on campus and expected in Eugene over the coming days, a pair of predictions came in for the Ducks to get commitments from the blue-chip players on Thursday morning.

According to 247Sports’ analyst Steve Wiltfong, the Ducks are trending to land 4-star LB Dylan Williams and 4-star OT JacQawn McRoy.

Williams is rated as the No. 17 LB and No. 175 overall player in the class of 2024, and he took his official visit to Eugene last week. McRoy is expected on campus for his official visit this week, but the 6-foot-8, 365-pounder is rated as the No. 3 OT, and No. 60 overall player in the 2024 class.

The Ducks currently have the No. 8 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, but if they were able to land both Williams and McRoy, it would bump them up to the No. 6 spot in the nation.

Here is some more info on the two prospects.

Michigan State football getting massive OV from 4-star linebacker

A massive name has been added to the official visit list for this summer:

Michigan State has added a major visitor to their summer, learning that 4-star California linebacker Dylan Williams will be on campus from June 9-11 for an official visit.

Williams ranks as a 4-star prospect and the No. 141 overall recruit in the 2024 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

A native of Long Beach, attending Long Beach Poly, Williams would be a massive addition to the Michigan State defense.

Ex-USC linebacker commit puts Penn State in his top seven schools

This former USC linebacker commit put Penn State in his top schools list.

The recruiting cycle for the 2024 class has really picked up in Penn State’s favor. They started the month of April with a commitment from a four-star cornerback prospect. That brings their total number of players in the 2024 class to six.

The good news continues to come for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and Penn State with the news that coveted four-star linebacker [autotag]Dylan Williams[/autotag] included the Nittany Lions in his top seven schools.

Williams is a 6’3″ 215 pound prospect out of Long Beach, California. On3’s combined industry ranking has him rated as the 8th best linebacker in the country and 105th best prospect in the 2024 class.

Williams was previously headed to USC, but decommitted from them in October of 2022. He announced on Twitter that he and his family wanted to open his recruitment again, but USC would remain a top school during the process.

It looks like that is no longer the case.

The top seven schools on Williams’ list are Penn State, Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Miami, UCLA and Texas.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine previously gave USC a 76.0% chance to resign Williams. The machine will need to be updated after the exclusion of the Trojans from his top seven. Oregon would seemingly be the leader in the clubhouse since they had a 20.7% chance prior to his announcement.

Williams spoke with Chad Simmons of On3 about Penn State saying, “Coach Franklin actually came up to Poly to meet me and ever since then, they’ve just been recruiting me hard… Penn State is for sure a top school for me. That’s Linebacker University. You already know that’s Linebacker U.”

With two four-star linebackers already committed in the class of 2024, we’ll see Williams is still a priority for the coaching staff still or if Williams wants to have that much competition in his own class.

Alabama lands in top-seven for 2024 4-Star LB Dylan Williams

Alabama has a history of landing some of the nation’s top linebacker prospects and could land 2024 LB Dylan Williams

California native Dylan Williams, a linebacker in the 2024 class, listed Alabama in his top-seven schools on Sunday.

Williams plays for Long Beach Poly High School. As a junior, Williams amassed 79 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 25.5 tackles for loss.

Williams can play inside or outside of the box. He does a good job running sideline-to-sideline in his pursuit. It is also fair to add that his athleticism stands out as well on his highlight tape.

Williams looks like a linebacker that would fit in well on Alabama’s defense.

The Tide will have to out-recruit schools like Texas and Michigan which will both host Williams for official visits in June.

Michigan football makes top group for elite 2024 linebacker

#Michigan is after a high-profile prospect out of California. #GoBlue

Now that Michigan football has Chris Partridge back in the fold, he’s firing on all cylinders on the recruiting trail.

The Wolverines have signed a few solid linebacker prospects over the years, but it has been relatively inconsistent. Even when they’ve obtained commitments, like that of four-star Raylen Wilson, they can’t keep them away from schools such as Georgia.

Now, the maize and blue are in the mix for another high-profile linebacker. 2024 Long Beach (California) Poly four-star Dylan Williams released his top seven. The Wolverines made the cut along with Penn State, Alabama, UCLA, Oregon, Texas and Miami, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Rivals is the highest on Williams, listing him at No. 31 overall. The On3 consensus has Williams at No. 105 overall. USC, who has the lead in the On3 recruiting prediction machine, did not make the cut.
