A former SEC player talked about Clemson (4-3, 3-2 ACC) this week and called out Dabo Swinney while discussing his team’s down season.

On the Punt & Pass Podcast with former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, former UGA punter Drew Butler said Swinney is “getting exposed” as a coach this year with D.J. Uiagalelei as his quarterback now instead of Trevor Lawrence or Deshaun Watson.

“Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson are generational, franchise-type quarterbacks at the college level,” Butler said. “Deshaun obviously won a national championship, upended Alabama. Trevor Lawrence did the same thing – they whooped up on Alabama when they had the chance a couple of years ago. Everybody had presumed that D.J. U was next in line to do that. He flashed big time in his two starts last season. Obviously he has all the intangibles. He has the measurables as well to where you’re coming into the season going, well he’s in the Clemson system and he certainly will be able to perform at the same level as Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson.

“Dabo Swinney is the one getting exposed right now because he has not been able to adjust his offense and the success of his football team without that type of talent at the quarterback position.”

Butler added that Clemson must do “some soul searching” and pointed to Georgia’s Kirby Smart as a head coach he thinks has been able to adjust around his team’s quarterback situation over the past couple of years.

“Let’s just go to Georgia,” Butler said. “There has been a ton of attrition at the quarterback position for the past two seasons at Georgia, and Kirby Smart and (offensive coordinator) Todd Monken and really (defensive coordinator) Dan Lanning on the defensive side of the ball – I’ll give him some credit, too – has been able to adjust and say hey, here’s how we are going to make sure that this does not affect the overall success of our football team.

“So, Clemson is really going to have to do some soul searching.”

Devon Kennard will be 3rd father-son combo to play for Cardinals

Kennard keeps it in the family by signing a three-year deal with the Cardinals.

When the Arizona Cardinals announced they agreed to terms with linebacker Devon Kennard, they were bringing home another hometown player. Kennard not only played high school ball in Phoenix, he also brings a Cardinals legacy in his family.

His father played for the Cardinals in the late 80s and 90s.

According to the Cardinals’ Mark Dalton, who is the head of media relations, when Devon plays for the Cardinals for the first time, it will be the third time in team history in which a father and son both played for them.

The other two father-son combos are Kevin Butler and son Drew Butler, and them Terry Metcalf and his son Eric.

Let’s find out more about these other father-son combos.

Georgia football greats Aaron Murray, Drew Butler discuss UGA vs Tech

Georgia football greats Aaron Murray and Drew Butler talk UGA vs Ga Tech.

On Saturday at noon, Georgia and Georgia Tech will kickoff the 113th meeting of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.

The Bulldogs are 28.5 point favorites over the Yellow Jackets and have won 15 of the last 18 meetings.

This season, there’s plenty of reasons to think No. 4 Georgia (10-1) will cover the spread against Tech (3-8).

Simply, Georgia’s defense is just way too good. It has shut down just about everybody its played, and Tech’s offense will be one of the worst the Dawgs have faced this season.

This week, Georgia greats Aaron Murray and Drew Butler discussed the game known as Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate on their show powered by CampusLore.

Watch: Aaron Murray says Jake Fromm’s experience could be difference maker if Georgia gets to CFP

Georgia football great Aaron Murray says that UGA QB Jake Fromm’s experience could be the difference maker if the Bulldogs get to the CFP.

No moment is too big for Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, who has played in two SEC Championships, a Rose Bowl and a national title game all in just his first two years.

Now, as Fromm’s third season is coming to an end, he will have a chance to play in at least one more huge game, the conference championship vs LSU in two weeks.

If Fromm is able to guide the Dawgs to a win in Atlanta over the Tigers, then Georgia, assuming it does not drop a regular season game to Texas A&M or Tech, will punch its ticket to another College Football Playoff.

If that scenario plays out, there’s one former Bulldog who thinks Fromm’s experience will be a huge factor in the postseason.

Aaron Murray, the SEC’s all-time leading passer in just about every possible category, discussed Fromm’s experience compared to LSU’s Joe Burrow, Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, the players who they predict will fill the other three spots.

“Justin Fields has never played in a championship game, never played in the playoffs,” Murray said on he and Drew Butler’s college football show hosted by CampusLore. “Joe Burrow, never played in a championship game, never played in the playoffs. Trevor Lawrence, two games. Played in the playoffs last year and then he won the national championship.

Jake Fromm has played in multiple SEC Championship Games, played in a national championship game, played in playoff games.

He has more experience than all these guys combined,”

Murray went on to talk about why that experiences is so important, pointing to the fact that’s just a different type of game.

“It’s a big stage, man. These playoff games are not a regular season game. It’s not a game at home, it’s not a rivalry game. Everyone in the country’s watching this.”

In Fromm’s two SEC Championship appearances, he is 41/61 for 484 yards and five touchdowns. In the College Football Playoff two seasons ago, Fromm went 36/61 for 442 yards and three touchdowns.
