3 areas the Bills must improve in during the postseason

3 areas the #Bills must improve in during the postseason:

Here are three areas where the Buffalo Bills need to improve in during their run in the NFL postseason:

Former Lions to watch during NFL playoff games in wild card weekend

Former Detroit Lions to watch during NFL playoff games in wild card weekend

The first round of playoff games are set to start on Saturday afternoon, and there are plenty of former members of the Detroit Lions organization who will be taking the field in these postseason matchups.

While some of these players were only in Detroit for brief stints, others were once core players for the team.

Bills announce jersey numbers for trade acquisitions Nyheim Hines, Dean Marlowe

The jersey numbers for the new guys:

The Bills got on the board with two deals at the 2022 NFL trade deadline.

Running back Zack Moss and a draft pick were sent to the Colts for running back Nyheim Hines. Then safety Dean Marlowe returned to the Bills in a deal with the Falcons.

With the dust settled, both have selected their jersey numbers they will wear with the Bills.

Check those out below via the announcement made by the team on Wednesday:

Bills re-acquire Dean Marlowe in trade with Falcons

#Bills re-acquire Dean Marlowe in trade with #Falcons:

The Buffalo Bills are on the board with a second move at the 2022 NFL trade deadline.

The team announced that safety Dean Marlowe was acquired from the Atlanta Falcons. Buffalo sent a seventh-round pick to Atlanta for the defender.

Marlowe, 30, is very much a familiar face. He previously suited up for the Bills from 2017 to 2020.

After his first time in Buffalo, Marlowe signed as a free agent with the Detroit Lions during the 2021 offseason. He was hopeful for more playing time and did make a career-high nine starts that year, however, he ended up signing with the Falcons this past summer.

Marlowe has mostly played a special teams role in Atlanta this year, but in Buffalo, he could see defensive snaps pretty quickly.

During his first stint with the Bills, he was the No. 1 option to fill in for both Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde when either would go down.

With Hyde out for the year and Poyer currently dealing with an elbow injury, Marlowe could seamlessly know the Bills’ defensive system. Currently the Bills have Jaquan Johnson and Damar Hamlin filling in behind their top-two safeties.

Falcons trade Dean Marlowe to Bills for 7th-round pick

BREAKING: Falcons make another trade, send safety Dean Marlowe to the Bills for a seventh-round pick

The Falcons made not one, not two, but three trades just before the NFL trade deadline passed on Tuesday.

First, the team sent WR Calvin Ridley to Jacksonville. Then, Atlanta sent a conditional seventh-round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for CB Rashad Fenton.

Lastly, the Falcons closed the day out by trading backup safety Dean Marlowe to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh-round pick, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Marlowe has backed up Jaylinn Hawkins and Richie Grant, but hasn’t made much of an impact since signing with the Falcons over the offseason. On Sunday, Marlowe didn’t have a great game as the secondary got cooked by Panthers QB PJ Walker.

By trading Marlowe, Atlanta gets a seventh-round pick for a guy that wasn’t likely to play much this season.

Falcons cut CB Mike Ford and S Dean Marlowe

#Falcons cut DB Mike Ford and S Dean Marlowe to make room for 2 players claimed off waivers Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons were awarded both of their waiver claims on Wednesday, signing defensive lineman Matt Dickerson and offensive tackle Chuma Edoga to the 53-man roster.

Unfortunately, that brought the team’s roster total up to 55, so the Falcons were forced to cut defensive back Mike Ford and safety Dean Marlowe, according to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.

Ford stood out in training camp and many were happy to see him make the initial roster. Marlowe had been pretty quiet and was only expected to play a backup role this season.

Atlanta still has veteran Erik Harris to provide experience behind Jaylinn Hawkins and Richie Grant at safety.

Ex-Lions S Dean Marlowe signs with the Falcons

Marlowe started 9 games for the Lions in 2021 and registered 67 tackles

One of the Lions few remaining free agents from the 2021 team has found a new home. Safety Dean Marlowe has officially signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available. Marlowe was an unrestricted free agent after his one year in Detroit.

Marlowe, 29, is coming off his most prolific season. In his one year in Detroit, Marlowe started nine games and played in 16 total. The James Madison product registered 67 total tackles, recovered one fumble and broke up two passes. He previously played for the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers.

Marlowe joins wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge in Lions from last season who have signed with the Falcons in free agency.
