Eagles could be without two key starters for game vs. Jaguars in Week 9

The Philadelphia Eagles are likely to be without Darius Slay and Dallas Goedert for Sundays game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9

The Eagles just hit the practice field for the final time this week and the team is trending towards being without two of their key starters.

Darius Slay (groin) and Dallas Goedert (hamstring) both miss their third practice of the week, and will likely be inactive for Sunday against the Jaguars.

Goedert has missed the last two games after injuring his hamstring early in the Week 6 win over Cleveland and did not practice.

Slay, who exited Sunday’s win with a groin injury, did not practice on Thursday. Isaiah Rodgers replaced him in the Bengals game, and he tipped a pass intended for wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase that led to an interception by safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Eagles’ CB Darius Slay will undergo MRI on groin to determine status for Week 9

Philadelphia Eagles’ CB Darius Slay will undergo MRI on groin to determine status for Week 9

The Eagles could be without Darius Slay in Week 9 after the star cornerback was forced to exit the win over the Bengals with a groin injury.

Slay became lame in the second half and was replaced by Isaiah Rodgers, who was opposite Quinyon Mitchell. During his most recent episode of the Big Play Slay podcast, the veteran cornerback said he’d have an MRI within the next few days to determine the severity of his injury.

Slay logged 41 snaps before departing and finished with four tackles and one big pass breakup that prevented a touchdown catch. If Slay were to miss an extended time, Philadelphia would have depth at the cornerback spot and could turn to Isaiah Rodgers and Kelee Ringo, who are available for Week 9 against the Jaguars.

Darius Slay had an interesting answer when asked to rank the Bengals’ WR duo

Darius Slay says the Cincinnati Bengals WR duo is top two in the NFL behind the Philadelphia Eagles

The Bengals and Eagles are set for a Sunday meeting featuring dynamic wide receiver duos on both teams. Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase will break records in Cincinnati, and A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will do the same for Philadelphia.

Eagles cornerback Darius Slay praised the duo, calling them the top two in the NFL, but of course, they weren’t the No. 1 team on the list.

Higgins has 29 catches, for 341 yards (11.8 avg), and three touchdowns on the season, while Chase is first in the NFL, with 39 catches, for 620 yards (15.9 avg), and six touchdowns.

Details on how much time Eagles’ Jordan Mailata will miss with a hamstring injury

Philadelphia Eagles star left tackle Jordan Mailata will miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the win over the Browns

The Eagles appeared to have dodged a bullet on Sunday, as star left tackle Jordan Mailata will only miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury.

Head coach Nick Sirianni just provided the update on Mailata, who was forced to exit midway through the third quarter.  Mailata exited Lincoln Financial Field on crutches and with his legs wrapped.

Eagles All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a similar injury in Week 1 against the Packers and missed three games.

Backup right tackle Fred Johnson, who replaced the injured Lane Johnson in the lineup, could be inserted for Mailata. Philadelphia could also move Mekhi Becton to left tackle and insert Tyler Steen at right guard.

Mailata has allowed eight pressures on 162 pass plays this season, and his 89.8 PFF pass-blocking grade leads all offensive tackles.

Best photos from Philadelphia Eagles 20-16 win over Cleveland Brown in Week 6

It wasn’t the prettiest win, but Philadelphia did enough to avoid an ugly post-bye week loss with a 20-16 victory over the 1-5 Browns in Week 6. On defense, Vic Fangio’s unit held Cleveland to 244 total yards and 3-12 on third down.  The Eagles’ rushing attack was stifled, but thanks to the return of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Kellen Moore’s offense was able to amass 256 yards, passing 116 yards on the ground and explosive plays from their top two pass catchers. With preparation for the NFC East opener against the Giants set to begin, here are the top photos from the big win. ***
