Watch: Ohio State takes early lead as Stroud find Harrison in the end zone

The Buckeyes strike first #GoBucks

The Buckeyes got the ball first but didn’t do much as they were forced to punt the ball back to Georgia after just four offensive plays. The Bulldogs would then move the ball a bit, but a missed 47-yard field goal by [autotag]Jack Podlesny[/autotag] gave the ball back to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag].

The quick strike Buckeye offense then went to work. Quarterback [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] found [autotag]Marvin Harrison Jr.[/autotag] for a 24-yard gain on the first play. Stroud then found [autotag]Emeka Egbuka[/autotag] for a 13-yard gain followed by a 3-yard run by [autotag]Dallan Hayden[/autotag].

Stroud then found Harrison Jr. again, this time in the end zone for a 31-yard touchdown pass to give Ohio State an early 7-0 lead.

The Buckeyes captured some early momentum after not allowing Georgia to score and used it to score themselves. Expect more fireworks from both offenses during this contest.

Keys for Ohio State to defeat Georgia in the Peach Bowl

What are your keys for the Buckeyes? #GoBucks

The Buckeyes are underdogs and aren’t projected by many to have a chance against Georgia, last year’s [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] champion.

To say the Bulldogs are unbeatable, however, is false, even though they have not yet lost this season. They bring a 15-game winning streak and a 27-1 record over the last two seasons into this game.

It is not an easy task for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag], but that is why they play the game. For the Buckeyes to come away with a win and play for a national championship, they are going to have to play one of their most complete games of the year. There will be plenty of keys to getting a victory against Georgia and here are a few that stick out.

Continued thoughts about this Ohio State loss to Michigan

What has stayed in your minds Buckeye fans?

Games like these bother me, and they will continue to do so until the Buckeyes head to Ann Arbor the weekend of Thanksgiving next year. It’s an odd feeling, for the majority of my OSU fandom, we have dominated TTUN, with the exception of a few John Cooper years. Jim Tressell took over when I was a sophomore in Morrison Tower and it’s been smooth sailing against our rivals until the last two contests. At some point, these questions will be answered, but for now, these are the thoughts that haven’t left my mind since Saturday afternoon.

Dallan Hayden named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

ICYMI – Congrats to freshman Dallan Hayden for this recognition from the Big Ten. He has to be a big part of the game plan for the Michigan game now, no? #GoBucks

We’ve got another sighting when it comes to an Ohio State football player being recognized by the Big Ten. Freshman running back Dallan Hayden was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Monday for his efforts against Maryland. He joined Penn State freshman running back Kaytron Allen with the honor.

Hayden didn’t start the game as option No. 1 in the backfield, but when TreVeyon Henderson appeared to be laboring with a nagging injury and not as effective, he was given a rest. And with Miyan Williams also unavailable for the game, the Buckeyes began to ride Hayden and it paid off.

The Memphis native carried the ball 27 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns, completely turning around Ohio State’s fortunes on the ground in the second half and acting as one of the key reasons why the Buckeyes were able to get out of Colleg Park with a 43-30 victory.

Hayden is starting to come into his own. Saturday makes the second-straight game he has gone over the century mark after rushing for 102 yards and a score against Indiana a week prior.

He now figures to be involved heavily in the game plan for the upcoming massive tilt with Michigan on Saturday.

Hayden is the ninth Buckeye to receive Big Ten honors so far in 2022.

Five things we think we learned from Ohio State’s close shave against Maryland

What did you take away from the Maryland game? Here are five things we think we learned after seeing all the action in College Park Saturday. #GoBucks

Are you still alive and kicking?

While we love to watch entertaining college football games, it’s not nearly as exhilarating when Ohio State is embattled in a closer-than-expected contest against a Big Ten team it probably should have handled in less dramatic fashion.

At the end of the day though, almost every top team in the country struggled in the penultimate week of the college football regular season in games that seemed to be bridges to bigger and better things. After all, Ohio State will host Michigan in the next installment of The Game this Saturday and there’s some trophy and confetti on the line. From there it could be a College Football Playoff appearance.

But back to the game against Maryland. The Buckeyes made the adjustments at halftime and started shoveling the ball to running back Dallan Hayden on the way to a come-from-behind gut-check type of victory needed to put some more scarlet and gray hair on the chest.

After every game, we try to pull out five things that we observed to take away, and luckily this one is on the smiling side of the scoreboard for us to reflect on. It’s not all rosy though because there are some things that have to be much better next week.

Here are five things we learned from Ohio State’s hand-wringing win over Maryland Saturday.

Indiana vs Ohio State halftime review: Three things.

Take a dive into some possible overreactions from the first half of the Ohio State and Indiana contest #GoBucks

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been dominating the Indiana Hoosiers and the score is currently 28-7 at halftime. There is not much negative to say about Ohio State, but some of the more obvious topics that need to be discussed as a result of the first half of this contest are not very pleasant.

The Buckeyes are thriving on both sides of the ball with C.J. Stroud already passing for 187 yards and five contributing rushers on the ground accumulating 190 yards. The box score looks pretty nice right now, but it is Indiana and to put into perspective how bad they are, the spread was north of five touchdowns in the favor of Ohio State.

Ohio State freshman running back Dallan Hayden loses black stripe

Ohio State welcomes Dallan Hayden to the brotherhood. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team welcomed running back Dallan Hayden to the brotherhood today when he lost his black stripe. Hayden was the only running back to sign with the Buckeyes in the 2022 recruiting class.

Hayden was a top 300 player and the No. 19 ranked running back in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. He is described as having a college-ready body that can hit creases with burst and acceleration, has wiggle and elusiveness, and does not stop on contact.

He was one of three Buckeye newcomers to receive the honor Saturday, joining defensive end Kenyatta Jackson and receiver Kyion Grayes.

Watch below as the newest member of “tote nation” addresses his teammates.

As a true freshman, Hayden may end up playing an important role for OSU this year. After Even Pryor went down with a season-ending knee injury, the Bucks are left with just three scholarship running backs.

While a third-string back may not get many carries, all it takes is one injury and suddenly those carries will increase with the utmost importance.

Ohio State commit, Dallan Hayden, named Tennessee Mr. Football

Ohio State is getting a good one from the Volunteer state.

The Ohio State football team is busy prepping for a Rose Bowl appearance against Utah as well as making final recruiting pitches before the early signing period on Dec. 15. One of those expected to sign with the Buckeyes soon is 4-star running back Dallan Hayden.

Hayden is rated as the No. 24 running back in the 2022 class, but the young man is putting up some big-time stats and earning post-season awards. One of the honors earned is recently being named Divison II-AAA Mr. Football in the state of Tennessee. This is the second year in a row Hayden has been awarded the state’s top player in his division.

Hayden ran for 2,002 yards and 30 touchdowns in the 2021 season. In the past two seasons combined, the 5-foot, 11-inch running back ran for over 4,000 yards and 57 touchdowns.

Hayden is the sole running back in the 2022 class for Ohio State and spurned other offers from Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Auburn among others. Ryan Day seems happy with his choice as Tennessee native will be the only running back signed in this year’s class.

BOOM! Ohio State gets commitment from four-star running back

The Buckeyes add another highly recruited player to their impressive 2022 class. This time, it’s a four-star running back out of Tennessee.

The Ohio State football team got some great news after a weekend of hosting yet another talented crop of potential future Buckeyes. Four-star running back, Dallan Hayden gave his verbal commitment OSU earlier today.

Hayden hails from Memphis, Tennessee, and is the No. 237 ranked player according to 247 Sports composite rankings. He is the son of former University of Tennessee and NFL running back, Aaron Hayden. His brother Chase plays at Illinois.

Hayden is described by national recruiting analyst Allen Trieu as college-ready.

“Has a college-ready build at a sturdy 195 pounds,” writes Trieu. “Highly productive junior season which showed he could break long runs and hit creases with burst and acceleration but is also a physical runner who will lower his shoulder and initiate contact when he needs to. Runs hard, and does not stop on contact. Shows wiggle and elusiveness but mostly appears to be a one cut and go back. Has shown that he can catch the ball and run routes and uses his physicality as a pass-blocker as well.”

The Tennessee product chose Ohio State over the likes of Notre Dame, Illinois, Auburn, and his home state Volunteers.

This is another big hit for Ryan Day and the 2022 class he and the rest of his staff are putting together. The Buckeyes recently took back possession of the No. 1 class ranking and are looking to add more in the coming days as they prepare to host another big group of recruits again this weekend.

We’ll keep you posted as more “BOOMS” drop in Columbus.

Two Notre Dame running back targets commit to CFP stalwarts

On to the next one…

Earlier this month, the Irish staff welcomed Tennessee running back Dallan Hayden for a visit. Unfortunately for Notre Dame, we can now take Hayden off the list of potential running backs for the 2022 class as he committed to Ohio State his afternoon.

Hayden wasn’t the only big time running back prospect that the Irish missed out on today, as Colorado back Gavin Sawchuk also made his pledge, as he will head off to Oklahoma.

It now makes much more sense why the Irish are welcoming in running back Xayvion Bradshaw to campus later on this week.

[lawrence-related id=29621]

Currently the Irish have a commitment from Texas running back Jadarian Price, but it’s clear they would like to add another prospect along with him.

[listicle id=17189]

Hopefully, we can bring you good news later this week after Bradshaw’s visit, as he would be a great addition to the 2022 Notre Dame football recruiting class.
