The Jacksonville Jaguars need pass-rushing help and they’re reportedly poking around the trade market to find some. According to Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated’s Cowboys Country, the Jaguars are among the teams that have shown interest in trading for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Haason Reddick.
Reddick, a former Arizona Cardinals first-round pick, joined the Eagles in 2022 and has been one of the NFL’s top pass rushers in recent seasons. In two years with Philadelphia, Reddick has racked up 27 sacks, five forced fumbles and 24 tackles for loss.
But with the 29-year-old pass rusher due to count about $21.8 million against the Eagles’ salary cap next season and 2023 first-rounder Nolan Smith waiting in the wings, Reddick was granted permission to seek a trade. Via Fisher:
“Our source mentions Dallas and Jacksonville as among the teams that are “interested” in making a move. (There are rumors mentioning Detroit, Houston and New England here, but we have not confirmed.)”
If those are the teams in the mix, the obvious advantage for the Jaguars in a bidding war with the Cowboys is that they’re in an opposite conference than the Eagles. Teams rarely make trades with division rivals, and Dallas probably faces an uphill climb getting a deal done with Philadelphia.
For nearly a year, the Jaguars have been considered in the mix for Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter. It seems that’s not the only top-flight sack artist the Jaguars have inquired about.
