College golf: 2023 NCAA women’s conference championship dates and results

Results from 2023 women’s conference championships across the country.

Conference championship season is underway in women’s college golf, with all roads leading to the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, next month.

Teams who win their conference title score an Automatic Qualifying spot in NCAA Regionals, which is a big deal for any team that might find itself on the bubble for an at-large postseason selection. A win earns you a postseason bid and gets you closer to a spot in the NCAA Championship.

And this year, 30 women’s teams will make it to Grayhawk, matching the men for the first time.

Conference championships are listed below along with the date and venue, and we’ll continue to update the list with winners and storylines as tournaments wrap up.

Twitter reacts to yet another LSU special teams blunder, this one perhaps the worst

LSU’s special teams strike again and nobody in South Bend is surprised yet again.

If you’ve been paying attention to LSU football at all this season, you’ve noticed a great many positives in their turnaround. A year after chasing Ed Orgeron from the post, [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has the Tigers playing in the SEC championship game after winning the SEC West. He’s done a ton well and right in 2022.

One of those things, however, is not special teams, which have been a disaster for the Tigers all year. If you paid attention to Notre Dame football from 2010-2021, you’re not surprised. Headed by Kelly with special teams being led Brian Polian for the majority of those years, the philosophy surrounding special teams was essentially “don’t it mess up.”

Well, shocking to nobody, LSU has had poorly performing special teams units all year. They saved their best, or worst, for the SEC championship game, however. Check it out below and then see some of the reactions to an all-time blunder by the Tigers.

College Football Rivalry Week: College Gameday Game Selections

Who you got today?

The final week of the college football regular season is upon us and the schedule of games has plenty of games that will have a significant impact on the postseason.  Will the loser of Ohio State vs. Michigan be out of the College Football Playoff?  Or will they just need Notre Dame to upset USC on Saturday night to get them a pass?

Clemson takes on South Carolina that was firing on all cylinders a week ago. Could the Tigers be a team on upset watch this week?  Rivalry week won’t disappoint, that we know for sure.  Here is what the staff of ESPN’s “College Gameday” has happening on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

A Georgia fan brought the perfect sign to ESPN’s College GameDay set ahead of their game against Alabama

This sign deserves to be in somebody’s Hall of Fame

It’s Conference Championship Saturday in the college football world and you know exactly what that means.

Fans are going to be going a little crazy today. There will be a lot of back and forth going between rival sides today. And one of the matchups everyone is looking forward to today — both on and off the field — is Georgia vs. Alabama.

The two teams don’t play until 4 p.m. ET, but their fans are already getting the festivities popping.

A Georgia fan brought an absolutely brilliant sign to the set of ESPN’s College Gameday to troll Alabama fans. It’s one of those things that takes a little while to click, but once you get it you realize it’s good. Really good.

The sign had a picture of a MARTA bus with the Georgia logo on it driving in front of the Crimson Tide logo.

That doesn’t make sense initially…until you remember the bus that drove in front of the Georgia Dome during its demolition. It completely blocked the camera’s view and stole the show.

This was so perfect, man. Bravo to the Georgia fan that thought of this. I don’t know if there’s a Hall of Fame for trash talk signs, but if there is this one needs to be in there.

Kyle Hamilton back if Notre Dame makes College Football Playoff?

Could this really happen?

Look up any 2022 NFL mock draft, and just about all of them have Kyle Hamilton being taken in the top 10. Even after missing the past month with a knee injury, NFL teams appear to remain very high on the Notre Dame safety. However, could he actually wait another year before he makes the jump to the pros? If a source that has spoken to The Athletic is correct, it’s very possible if the Irish have some good fortune during conference championship weekend:

While talented college football underclassmen choosing to come back for another season is nothing new, it’s surprising to hear this as a possibility for Hamilton. If the Irish qualify for the College Football Playoff, does he want to provide that little bit of continuity to try and keep the program at a high level during Marcus Freeman’s first season? Is he smarting over having this season cut short? Whatever the reason, Hamilton wearing gold and blue one more time would be a thing of beauty.

College golf: Conference moves aren’t just limited to the Big 12 and SEC

Check out this conference-by-conference breakdown, with shows movement among all conferences.

In golf, conference championships can be a gateway to the postseason. Win the conference title, and a team gets an Automatic Qualifying spot in an NCAA Regional. It’s one reason so much conference movement of late is such an interesting topic in college golf.

Teams like Oklahoma and Texas, which recently announced their departure from the Big 12 in favor of the SEC (effective in 2025, or potentially sooner), have made national headlines across sports. But outside of such visible moves, there’s still plenty of shuffling.

Below, check out the conference-by-conference breakdown, with teams joining and leaving each conference indicated in the chart.

Big 12 football teams ranked by conference championships

Four football programs are still looking for their first Big 12 conference championship, while Oklahoma has won more than every Big 12 school combined.

The Big 12 conference was formed in 1996 and there’s been a few changes over the years in regards to determining how each football team can reach the championship game.

From 1996-2010, the conference champions were determined in a head-to-head matchup held at the end of the regular season. At this time, the Big 12 Championship game featured the Big 12 North Division champion against the Big 12 South Division champion.

Between 2011-2016, it was a round-robin regular-season format among all conference members. However, there were no tiebreaking procedures put in place until the 2015 season. This caused a few co-champions from 2012-2014.

Beginning in 2017, the Big 12 championship game now features the two teams with the best conference records. Oklahoma has dominated the conference to a point that they have more Big 12 football titles than every other conference opponent combined.

West Virginia joined the conference in 2012, therefore it’s not too surprising to see the Mountaineers near the bottom of the list. Take a look at where each football program ranks in terms of Big 12 titles below. Keep in mind that former conference foes Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri and Colorado are not included.
