Week 1 College Football: ESPN Game Day and Fox Big Noon Kickoff locations

Take a look at the locations for both the ESPN College Game day crew and the Fox Big Noon kickoff squad.

A great long standing college football tradition over the years has been turning on the TV in the morning and getting ready for all the big games. That is certainly not going to change in 2024, as the season gets started in full force this weekend. Sure, there are games on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday is the big day. Both ESPN Game Day and Fox Big Noon Kickoff are in locations ready to fire up the crowds.

The ESPN Game Day crew of Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Pat Thamel, and others will be part of the show. They will take their talents to College Station Texas, home of the Texas A&M Aggies, who host No. 7 Notre Dame. Game Day will run from 9 am ET through noon.

These two teams have not met a whole lot in history. This is just the sixth time.

When you flip the channel over to FOX, they will be getting fans ready for the West Virginia Mountaineers and Penn State Nittany Lions. These two teams are familiar with each other, despite one being in the Big 12 and the other in the Big 10. The fans in Morgantown are starving for an upset, while James Franklin has his team in the Top 10 to start the season.

They will be on FOX from 10 am ET until kickoff at noon.

‘College GameDay’ expert Jay Bilas weighs in on the UNC vs. Duke X-factors.

College GameDay expert Jay Bilas weighs in on the UNC Basketball vs. Duke X-factors.

We are just moments away from college basketball’s biggest rivalry, UNC vs. Duke, tipping off.

To nobody’s surprise, the event brought high ticket prices and welcomed ESPNs’ “College GameDay” to Chapel Hill. The crew is in town, giving predictions on UNC tournament hopes while signs are displayed behind them, and Tar Heel chants echo.

Before the crew gave their picks on live TV, I had the opportunity to speak with [autotag]Jay Bilas[/autotag], and he gave me his key players to watch in the rivalry showdown.

Bilas opened up with Duke’s X-factor first and whom he believes UNC will need to stop.

“For Duke Derek Lively II,” Bilas said. “He had his best game overall of the season against North Carolina. He had a double-figure rebounding game (14) and controlled the paint, blocking eight shots and changing a fair amount of others. So I think he is a wildcard and an X-factor if North Carolina can get into his body a little better instead of trying to avoid getting your shot block.

Bilas then offered who he believed were the X-factors for UNC.

“There are two guys, Pete Nance, I think, has been playing at a higher level over his last several games. I don’t know how much these cookies have to do with it, but keep eating them and Leaky Black. Duke helped off of certain players in the last game between Duke and North Carolina. When you have those kinds of open shots, you gotta make some of them, and you know Leaky Black has proven to be a good corner shooter.”

The first meeting saw Duke take it 63-57. However, with home-court advantage and backs against the wall, the Tar Heels need to come out with better energy and secure a big win late in the season.

UNC Basketball vs. Duke: Game preview, info, prediction and more

The biggest rivalry in college basketball is here, as the North Carolina Tar Heels will host the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday, March 4th.

The stakes for North Carolina could not be any higher as they fight for a chance to dance. North Carolina could desperately use another quad-one victory, especially when you consider the possibility of Virginia dropping again in the NET rankings, resulting in that 71-63 win no longer being a quad-one victory.

UNC lost the first meeting 63-57 against Duke. However, if you recall, North Carolina was in the ideal position to win despite the lack of calls. As a team, UNC only went to the free-throw line three times. Meanwhile, Duke had 15.

A benefit for UNC is where this game is being played, giving belief that the outcome will look much different in Dean Dome. The Tar Heels have had their ups and downs this season, but at home, they have shown dominance posting a 12-2 record on their court.

The first game was chippy, and with so much on the line, another fast pace start is expected.

Let us get into our preview of college basketball’s biggest rivalry.

Stephen A. Smith chooses Pitt over UNC

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith went with the Pittsburgh Panthers over the North Carolina Tar Heels on College Game Day.

The 6-1 North Carolina Tar Heels are set to hit the field Saturday night to take on 4-3 Pitt, but Stephen A. Smith throws some shade their way before they do.

Despite UNC riding a three-game win streak and being ranked in the Associated Press Poll Top 25, Smith went with Pitt to win tonight on college game day. On the other hand, his reasoning came off more as a jab at Pitt, picking them comedically.

Smith, known for his loud sports takes, did not hold back on why he picked Pitt to win by saying, “Somebody in Pittsburgh has to win.”

Three points favor North Carolina in this ACC Coastal showdown as they look to continue their impressive season.

Kickoff is set for 8 pm in Chapel Hill as it’s a sold-out game for the Tar Heels at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

ESPN host highlights the frustration of the 2021 season

Just how bad were the Huskers in one-score games last year?

It’s been highlighted repeatedly that the 2021 Nebraska Cornhuskers finished with a 3-9 record and lost all nine games by single digits. Close games were not friendly to the Huskers last year, and a recent stat was recently brought to my attention that highlights just how bad Nebraska has been in one-score games. In recent years, Chris Fallica, also known as The Bear, has become a fixture on ESPN’s College Football.

He stated via social media that since 2018 Nebraska has been “5-18 in games decided by 7 points or fewer and has a -20 TO margin in those games. 0-7 last year with -8 TO margin in those games.” He also notes that Nebraska “outgained their opponents by 26.4 YPG in those seven games last year.”

With a repeat performance of those stats in 2022, Scott Frost will be looking for a new job heading into the 2023 season. Hopefully, the latest additions to the coaching staff will clean those errors up, but only time will tell.

Relive the frustration of the 2021 season below.

College Gameday picks for biggest games of rivalry weekend

What upset are you predicting today?

It’s one of the best but most bittersweet days of the year as the Saturday of rivalry weekend is upon us.  Plenty of questions remain in regards to the postseason outlook and College Football Playoff (CFP) and although we won’t get complete clarity today, we’ll get a good amount of it.

Notre Dame doesn’t play until Saturday night at Stanford but will certainly be paying attention to what happens elsewhere as they’re sixth in the latest CFP rankings.

Michigan hosts Ohio State as the loser in all likelihood will be eliminated from College Football Playoff contention while the same goes for Bedlam between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Then can Auburn pull off some magic against Alabama despite being a massive home underdog?

And what else might throw this Saturday for a loop?
