Gabriel Davis, Cody Ford added to Bills’ Reserve/COVID-19 ahead of Patriots matchup

#Bills add Gabriel Davis, Cody Ford to COVID list ahead of facing the #Patriots:

The Buffalo Bills have made two more additions to their Reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of facing the New England Patriots in Week 16.

On Friday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said via the team’s radio partner, WGR-550, that wide receiver Gabriel Davis and offensive lineman Cody Ford were added to the designation.

The duo join an already growing list of players on the Bills’ COVID list. The highlighted member of the group is wide receiver Cole Beasley, who already has been ruled out of the Patriots (9-5) meeting.

Others on Buffalo’s designation include:

  • LT Dion Dawkins
  • G Jon Feliciano
  • DE A.J. Epenesa

Once more, all these designations come down to each individual’s vaccination status. If unvaxxed, they are out for 10 days, that’s how we know Beasley will not play.

If vaccinated, once they have no symptoms and produce a negative test result, the player can return.

That portion of it likely involves just the bottom three at this time. Considering how close it is to game day, it’s unlikely that Davis and Ford will have enough time to produce a negative test.

Beyond that, signs point to Davis being unvaxxed. In August, he and Beasley were placed into the COVID protocol because they were unvaccinated and came into close contact with a training staff member who tested positive for COVID.

However, there is a chance Davis has gotten vaccinated since then.

Against the Pats, the Bills (8-6) will certainly be hamstrung without Davis in the lineup.

Davis has made an impact throughout the season on offense. Most recently, he had two touchdowns last week against the Carolina Panthers.

Bills’ Tre’Davious White, Cody Ford injured vs. Saints

Not good:

The Buffalo Bills went down one player on each side of the ball within minutes of each other against the New Orleans Saints (5-5).

The first came from the Bills (6-4) offense. Offensive lineman Cody Ford went down with an arm issue and he is questionable to return.

The one in worse shape is cornerback Tre’Davious White. With a knee injury, he is classified as doubtful to return:

It’s unclear exactly when Ford’s injury occurred.

Some spotted that Ford was replaced by Ryan Bates in the lineup, and it was unclear if it was performance based or injury related until now.

White was spotted being attended to by trainers.

It appeared his left knee slightly buckled under him on a play.

Here’s a look at White’s injury:

Bills Wire will provide updates as information is made available.

Report card: Bills stomped by Colts, 41-15

Report card: #Bills stomped by #Colts, 41-15 (via @NateMendelson);

Not sure many, if any, people saw this one coming. The Buffalo Bills have failed to win consecutive games for six weeks now and their schedule only gets more difficult.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-5) ran all over the Bills (6-4), literally, with running back Jonathan Taylor scoring five touchdowns.

Here’s how Bills Wire graded Buffalo after their 41-15 loss in this week’s report card:

Sean McDermott says Cody Ford ‘improving’ as Spencer Brown battles injury

#Bills’ Sean McDermott says Cody Ford ‘improving’ as Spencer Brown battles injury ahead of facing #Dolphins:

The Buffalo Bills might be without their new-ish look offensive line against the Miami Dolphins.

After having last week off due to their bye, when the Bills (4-2) returned to practice this week, rookie tackle Spencer Brown wasn’t there. He has missed time due to a back injury.

On Friday via WGR-550 radio, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott did not rule Brown out of playing on Sunday. However, not practicing for most of the week is not a good sign.

If Brown can’t go, the easy guess would be Cody Ford heading back into the lineup.

When the Bills did change around their O-line, Ford was sent to the bench. Brown began starting.

Considering that, if it is Ford that takes starting reps for Brown pending his health vs. the Dolphins (1-6) on Sunday, there does appear to be some confidence in the benched player.

McDermott acknowledged that Ford is “fighting for his job” and the coach added that there has been improvement in Ford’s game.

Here’s what McDermott said on Friday:

We might not know about the decision on who starts until just prior to kickoff. If Ford does play, we will see if his improvement in McDermott’s eyes is accurate or not.

According to Pro Football Focus, it might be easy to tell.

Overall, the football analytics outlet grades Ford as a brutal 41.1 mark so far this season.

Brown’s grade is an average one for PFF’s standards, but by comparison, is much better at 59.9.

In addition to Ford potentially playing, there could be movement in other places on the offensive line.

Ford could be put back into the lineup at guard, not Brown’s tackle spot. Doing so would move Daryl Williams to tackle.
