Watch: Seahawks rookie cornerbacks impress again vs. Cardinals

It’s still far too early to turn in any kind of definitive verdict, but through six games the Seahawks’ 2022 draft class looks absolutely sensational.

It’s still far too early to turn in any kind of definitive verdict, but through six games the Seahawks’ 2022 draft class looks absolutely sensational.

While there’s several standouts in this class, nobody has been more impressive than Seattle’s two rookies at cornerback. In Sunday’s 19-9 win over the Cardinals, Coby Bryant forced another fumble, bringing his season total to four – which leads the league. Meanwhile, Tariq Woolen notched another interception – his fourth in as many games. That ties him with Jordan Poyer for the high mark in the NFL.

Watch Brian Baldinger break down yet another exciting performance from Nos. 8 and 27.

3 Studs and 3 Duds in Seahawks 19-9 win over Arizona Cardinals

Here are the three studs and three duds from the Seattle Seahawks 19-9 win over the Arizona Cardinals Week 6 at Lumen Field.

Show of hands, who saw this one coming? The Seattle Seahawks have improved to 3-3 after outlasting the Arizona Cardinals in a 19-9 defensive struggle in Week 6.

Given how porous Seattle’s defense has been, and how dominant the Cardinals typically are at Lumen Field, it was easy to predict the game being another shootout for the Seahawks. It couldn’t have been further from reality. The Seahawks defense completely shut down the Cardinals, holding Kyler Murray and Co. to a lone field goal. Seattle sacked the elusive Heisman winner six times and forced two turnovers out of him.

The Seahawks offense wasn’t as high-octane but did more than enough to earn a much-needed win. Rookie running back Kenneth Walker (more on him shortly) paved the way and was a major reason Seattle is back in a tie for first place in the NFC West.

That set up a late touchdown pass from Geno Smith to Tyler Lockett. The Seahawks lead the Saints 19-17 at halftime.

On Saturday the Seattle Seahawks announced a few roster moves ahead of today’s matchup with the division rival San Francisco 49ers.

Veteran slot corner Justin Coleman was listed as questionable in the team’s final injury report of the week due to a calf issue. He has been downgraded to out for this game, as well as rookie free safety Joey Blount (hamstring). In addition, the team has elevated cornerback Xavier Crawford from the practice squad.

With Coleman ruled out the Seahawks will look to rookie Coby Bryant to play the nickel position, one of many good reasons to tune in.

Seahawks 2022 roster cuts: S Marquise Blair is getting released

The Seahawks are releasing safety Marquise Blair, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler at ESPN.

The Seahawks are releasing safety Marquise Blair, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler at ESPN.

Blair was a second-round pick by Seattle in the 2019 NFL draft. He showed promise as a rookie. Unfortunately, he missed most of the last two regular season due to a variety of injuries.

This year Blair switched from playing safety to the slot, but he bombed in Seattle’s first two preseason games this month. While he bounced back with a stronger peformance against the Cowboys, it apparently wasn’t enough.

Blair’s recent play and issues with injuries certainly didn’t help, but the development of Josh Jones as the third safety option may be what truly sealed his fate.

This is the closest thing to a surprise move as we have seen so far. The Seahawks are up to 11 cuts with a little more than an hour left to go before the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline.
