Baldy Breakdown: Jermaine Eluemunor a huge addition for Giants

Brian Baldinger believes Jermaine Eluemunor is a “huge” addition for the New York Giants and not just because of his play.

The New York Giants may have solved some of the issues along their offensive line with two key free agent signings last week, adding guard Jon Runyon Jr. and the versatile Jermaine Eluemunor.

NFL Network analyst and former trench warrior, Brian Baldinger, recently broke down Eluemunor’s game in the way he can only do.

“This guy has played seven years, started 45 games, played 2,900-plus snaps, got two total holding calls in seven years,” Baldinger said, via Giants.com. “The guy doesn’t hold. The guy has great hands.”

Eluemunor can play both guard and tackle but played right tackle under line coach Carmen Bricillo (now the Giants’ offensive line coach) with the Raiders last year in Las Vegas.

“He got to study under one of the best O-line coaches, if not the best O-line coach that ever coached in the NFL, (Former Patriots Offensive Line Coach) Dante Scarnecchia,” continued Baldinger.

“To have that experience, that’s huge. I think that will be really huge for the young guys to learn from him and take his coaching to help them take that next step in their progression as an offensive lineman.”

The Giants hope the 39-year-old can come in a provide an upgrade and/or depth to a unit that has experienced both injuries and inconsistency.

Brian Baldinger breaks down Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.’s game

The 2024 NFL draft features a deep and talented class of prospects at the quarterback position.

The 2024 NFL draft features a deep and talented class of prospects at the quarterback position. There are a few who are ranked higher than him, but our favorite in the bunch is Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., who just led the nation in passing yards this past season under new Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Penix also finished second in Heisman voting behind LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.

While there are legitimate concerns about Penix’s knees given his injury history, wherever he winds up going at the next level that team will be getting a polished and poised QB who has all the skills he needs to succeed in the NFL. Watch Brian Baldinger break down some of the things Penix does well on the field.

Brain Baldinger breaks down Chiefs’ win over Ravens in AFC Championship Game

NFL analyst Brian Baldinger took to Twitter to break down the #Chiefs’ win over the #Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl-bound after defeating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Exceptional efforts from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and the Chiefs’ entire defensive unit helped lift Kansas City to its second-consecutive Super Bowl appearance, and NFL analyst Brian Baldinger was ready to break down the game shortly after the final whistle blew.

Baldinger has made a name for himself as one of the most respected members of the media, making digestible breakdowns of key moments and matchups on Twitter to teach fans about the intricacies of the game of football.

His analysis of Kansas City’s win over Baltimore was one for the ages and gave context to all of the events that helped the Chiefs take down the top-seeded Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.

Check out Baldinger’s breakdown of all the action from Sunday’s hotly-contested AFC Championship Game below:

Brian Baldinger breaks down Chiefs’ Wild Card win vs. Dolphins

NFL analyst Brian Baldinger broke down the #Chiefs’ Wild Card win over the #Dolphins on Twitter after Saturday’s game.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ exceptional win over the Miami Dolphins was a heartening display for the defending Super Bowl champions. Both sides of the ball got in rhythm early for Kansas City, and NFL analyst Brian Baldinger gave his full breakdown of all the action from the Chiefs’ victory on Sunday.

From their lockdown defense to the quietly dominant offensive display by Patrick Mahomes and Rashee Rice, Baldinger had his hands full getting all the best film uploaded to Twitter.

While he commented on several ways that Miami successfully attacked Kansas City, his notes for the Chiefs were overwhelmingly positive, and hinted at a deep respect for Andy Reid’s squad.

No win comes easily in the NFL, and few pundits know more about the brutal conditions of playoff football than Baldinger, who made a point to applaud Kansas City’s toughness in the game.

Check out some of his best breakdowns from the game below:

Baldy Breakdown: Giants’ Dane Belton a defensive star in Week 17

Brian Baldinger broke down Week 17 film and focused on New York Giants safety Dane Belton, who he called the “defensive star” of the game.

New York Giants safety Dane Belton was thrust into unexpected action against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17 after Jason Pinnock left the game with an injury.

Belton responded with three takeaways — two interceptions of Matthew Stafford and a recovered fumble. It should have been enough to secure a Giants victory, but self-inflicted wounds ultimately led to their doom.

Retired offensive lineman and current NFL analyst, Brian Baldinger, broke down the film and honed in on Belton specifically. What he saw impressed him — and the most impressive thing he witnessed had nothing to do with Belton’s takeaways.

“Backups are just one play away from being a starter,” Baldinger said. “Dane Belton was a defensive star (for) the Giants. The backup who stepped up, who was all over the field all day.”

Giants head coach Brian Daboll, like Baldinger, was impressed with the takeaways but appreciated Belton’s effort above all else.

“I know he had the turnovers, but the one play that I was really impressed with is the play that they broke out for the long gain on the hitch route and his chase, to run down there and to finish, he showed some good long speed. Again, running to the ball when you think a guy might score, I just thought the effort he had on that play was indicative of what the young man is about,” Daboll said.

It was a relatively quiet season for Belton but he seems intent on going out on a high note.

Watch: Brian Baldinger shows why Rams O-line is playing like one of the NFL’s best

Brian Baldinger showed the Rams’ offensive line a lot of love with his latest breakdown, something Andrew Whitworth loved to see

Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp have gotten a lot of praise during the Rams’ recent hot streak, and deservedly so. They’ve been a huge part of the team’s turnaround, as have Ahkello Witherspoon, Kobie Turner, Aaron Donald and Ernest Jones.

However, the offensive line should get some love for the way that unit has played, too.

In a season when the O-line wasn’t expected to be one of the best in the NFL, the Rams’ group up front has exceeded all expectations. When healthy, it’s a top-10 O-line, once again keeping Stafford clean in Thursday’s win over the Saints.

Brian Baldinger of NFL Network shared a film breakdown of the job Los Angeles’ offensive line did against New Orleans, explaining why it’s one of the best units in football. Andrew Whitworth saw Baldinger’s breakdown and showed some love for the Rams’ big men, too.

“These men deserve the love!!!” Whitworth tweeted.

Baldinger is one of the best analysts in the business so when he talks ball, you should listen. The fact that he praised the Rams’ offensive line is a great indication of the way this group is playing.

Baldy Breakdown: Giants are proving they’re a prideful bunch

Brian Baldinger breaks down film of the New York Giants’ victory over the Green Bay Packers and concludes, “There’s pride in New York!”

The 2023 season for the New York Giants has fallen short of what was expected.

The start of the season derailed the team for several weeks during which time they lost a slew of players to injury. When the Giants pegged Tommy DeVito to replace the injured Tyrod Taylor who had already replaced Daniel Jones, most thought the team’s season was over.

As an undrafted rookie, the expectations for DeVito weren’t high. The hope was he wouldn’t turn the ball over and the Giants could keep from getting blown out while waiting for Taylor to return. But DeVito had other ideas and now there’s hope in New York.

Retired offensive lineman and current NFL analyst, Brian Baldinger, broke down film from Monday’s 24-22 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Referencing DeVito’s moniker as The Passing Paisano, Baldinger focused on the Giants’ game-winning drive against the Packers and broke down exactly how they made it happen. He also illustrates DeVito’s football IQ on this play:

DeVito is certainly proving that he belongs on an NFL team, but he’s not the only reason the Giants have reason to be prideful. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Saquon Barkley are both huge factors in that pride.

“Every team needs a Glowinski,” Baldinger says in the below video. “When did all this blocking take place?”

“What a day! What a weekend in New York it was for football,” Baldinger said.

But perhaps the best and most accurate part of his review came during the end of the above video when Barkley is shown cutting through the middle of the line, eventually going down right on the Giants logo at midfield:

“Bam, look at that Giant logo. There’s pride in New York! There’s pride with the Giants. Big Blue looking strong down the stretch,” he said.

DeVito and the way this team has turned its season around have given the Giants fresh hope. Four wins in a row now, and five is a real possibility on Sunday in New Orleans.

Baldy’s Breakdowns: Week 14 dubbed the ‘Will Levis Experience’

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger breaks down some great plays from Titans QB Will Levis and dubbed Week 14 the “Will Levis Experience.”

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger has done a lot of his signature “Baldy’s Breakdowns” on a variety of Tennessee Titans players and/or position groups over the last few years.

The majority of those breakdowns have often revolved around the trenches on both sides of the ball. However, after the performance rookie quarterback Will Levis had on Monday night against the Dolphins, it was impossible for someone like Baldinger not to share his opinions.

Baldy stated that Monday night in Miami was the “Will Levis Experience.”

The Titans’ rookie quarterback displayed everything you could possibly want in a franchise quarterback in Week 14.

The Kentucky product showed off his ridiculous arm strength, natural athleticism, undeniable toughness, pinpoint accuracy, pocket presence, disciplined eyes, different arm angles, and a clutch gene.

The former offensive lineman also shouted out more Titans rookies, praising a handful of key plays made by Peter Skoronski, Tyjae Spears and Jaelyn Duncan.

In fact, Baldinger’s exact words were, “what a class this is right here for Tennessee as they rebuild this.”

This may be a lost season in terms of the playoffs, but I don’t know how any Titans fan isn’t excited about the bright future this team has, especially with another draft class under general manager Ran Carthon coming, and a ton of cap space to work with.
