Ravens vs. Browns: ATS pick, props and betting preview for Week 16

The Baltimore Ravens take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 16 of the 2019 NFL season. Here is our betting preview for the game.

The Baltimore Ravens are on the road this week for a Week 16 meeting with the Cleveland Browns. The purple and black will be looking for some revenge as the Browns were the last team the Ravens lost to this season.

It was without a doubt the worst showing of the season for Baltimore. They entered the game as a seven-point favorite, but the Browns came into M&T Bank Stadium and looked like a team that could be a playoff hopeful. Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb and Jarvis Landry all had terrific games, while the Ravens turned the ball over three times. With a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs the week prior, the Browns and Ravens each had a 2-2 record and it looked like the fight was on to decide the winner of the AFC North.

Fast forward 12 weeks later and the Ravens have not lost since. They have the MVP frontrunner, the NFL’s top rushing attack and sending a league-high 12 players to the Pro Bowl.

The Browns? They did not live up to the preseason hype and they’ll be home watching the playoffs. Just do not expect them to lay down in this one

The Ravens enter this meeting at FirstEnergy Stadium as a 10-point favorite and are 8-6 ATS this year after walloping the New York Jets last week. Should we back Baltimore again? Continue on for the best bets of Week 16.

The Ravens have been nearly unstoppable since the start of this 12-game winning streak. They had the benefit of a mini bye with their last game being on Thursday. Cleveland is coming off a loss to the Arizona Cardinals. So why the Browns this week?

There has been a ton of talk coming out of Cleveland this week and most of it is not good. Landry and Freddie Kitchens got into it on the sidelines last week. Browns players are now asking their opponents to sign them in the offseason. Kareem Hunt was blunt when he said, “everybody didn’t leave their 110 percent out there.” Kitchens made headlines with his, “I don’t care about my future” quote. No one knows if Odell Beckham wants to be with them next season. Things look to be unraveling for a team many felt could compete for a Super Bowl.

The drama surrounding the team is drawing headlines, but the reality is the Browns have won four of their last six games and four in a row at home. A lot has changed since their last meeting, but Cleveland will rally the troops to give Baltimore all they can handle. They will not make the playoffs, but they would absolutely love to beat the Ravens twice this year. They won’t, but keep this game close and cover the spread. Kitchens’ job security could be in question otherwise.

Ravens vs. Browns injury report: DT Brandon Williams given day off Thursday

The Baltimore Ravens saw the addition to defensive tackle Brandon Williams to the injury report against the Browns, but not with an injury.

The Baltimore Ravens have continued their run of good luck this week with injuries. After seeing no players actually miss Wednesday’s practice with an injury, Thursday was the same.

Defensive tackle Brandon Williams was added to the injury report but was listed with a non-injury related designation. Like the four players on Wednesday, Williams is typically given a day off each week to help keep him fresh this late in the season.

Take a look at the latest injury report for the Ravens and Browns in Week 16.

It’s the most important game of the season for the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns, the Ravens can clinch the No. 1 seed, which will come with a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

As a rematch of Week 4 — the last loss Baltimore had this season — it’s not going to be an automatic win. But the writers here at Ravens Wire believes Baltimore will still do plenty of big and bold things this week.

Take a look at our bold predictions for Week 16 when the Ravens take on the Browns.

The Ravens lose

This is all about bold predictions and what’s more bold for a team that has destroyed quality opponents than losing to a 6-8 team? But there’s a real reason to be concerned about this week, even if losing is considered shocking to some.

As we saw in Week 4, Cleveland has the defensive talent to limit Baltimore’s offense a little bit. And if the Browns can get out of their own way, their offense could arguably be one of the best in the league with deep talent at all the skill positions. They have all the right parts to deal the Ravens their first loss in 11 weeks but it’ll take Cleveland playing angry, physical and efficient football for all 60 minutes — something they haven’t done very often this season.

WATCH: Odell Beckham Jr. says he’s ‘not going anywhere’

Now it is official, well, it is if you believe Odell Beckham Jr. is a man of his word. The receiver is in Cleveland to stay.

Now it is official, well .. it is if you believe Odell Beckham Jr. is a man of his word. The receiver is in Cleveland to stay.

The star spoke on the swirling rumors about his potential offseason departure following Wednesday’s practice.

“I’m not going anywhere, I’ll be here,” Beckham said, via the Akron Beacon Journal. “We’re going to figure this thing out, it’s just too special to leave.”

In his first season in Cleveland, Beckham averages 13.6 yards per catch on 67 receptions for 910 yards. He has just two touchdowns on the season.

After being acquired in March via trade from the Giants, with whom Beckham spent the first five years of his career, the Browns wideout has laughed about reports from the NFL Network and other outlets, which have said that the 27-year-old has spoken to a few NFL teams saying, “Come get me.”

But, as the 6-8 Browns prepare for Sunday’s rematch with the 12-2 NFC North Champion Ravens, Beckham says he is staying put.

Ravens vs. Browns injury report: Ravens as healthy as possible Wednesday

The Ravens are as healthy as any team could reasonably be in Week 16 against the Browns, seeing no players miss practice due to injury

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a bit of a rest after playing the New York Jets on Thursday in Week 15. That’ll give them 10 days from last week’s game to this week’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Thanks to that rest and a little bit of luck, Baltimore’s injury report to start this week is squeaky clean. Though four players did not practice on Wednesday, all were for non-injury reasons — likely a veteran’s day off to keep those specific players fresh for the postseason.

Let’s take a look at Wednesday’s injury report for the Ravens vs. Browns in Week 16.

Baltimore Ravens injuries:

Player Position Injury Wed Thur Fri Game status
Mark Ingram RB NIR DNP
Jimmy Smith CB NIR DNP
Earl Thomas S NIR DNP
Marshal Yanda G NIR DNP
Chris Board LB Concussion FP
Ronnie Stanley T Concussion FP

It’s beyond rare for an NFL team to be this healthy at this point in the season and it’s something that could seriously benefit the Ravens in the playoffs. With a chance to clinch the No. 1 seed this week, Baltimore could have nothing to play for in Week 17 allowing them to rest their starters. And with a first-round bye, in that case, the Ravens could actually head into the playoffs with two weeks of rest to get even healthier.

Cleveland Browns injuries:

Is Cleveland imploding and other questions for Browns Wire in Week 16

The Baltimore Ravens get a chance for a little revenge in Week 16. They’ll take on the Cleveland Browns, the last team to beat them this season (back in Week 4). Not only can Baltimore right a wrong, but they can also clinch the No. 1 seed this week.

With such an important game and one against a division rival currently in flux, I wanted to get some insider information on what’s going on. So I turned to Browns Wire managing editor Jeff Risdon to get the scoop on what Cleveland has going on this season and what they could be looking at this offseason.

1) Cleveland has been arguably the most inconsistent team in the NFL this season on both sides of the ball. Why is that?

It’s patently unfair to pin everything on Freddie Kitchens, but the rookie head coach has his tentacles in every level of the Browns’ failures in 2019. The team has the NFL’s best running back in Nick Chubb but Kitchens will go several series without using him. They have Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr. but throw more designed passes in the red zone to Demetrius Harris. They’re a poorly coached team far too often.

Defensively, injuries and the Myles Garrett suspension have definitely been factors. They played one week with just four of their Week 1 starters on the field and will be missing at least three this Sunday. The entire pass rush was built around Garrett and with him and Olivier Vernon gone, it’s fallen to pieces.

Odell Beckham trolls Giants: I didn’t buy a house in Cleveland to sell it

Browns WR Odell Beckham poked a little fun at the New York Giants on Wednesday, saying he didn’t buy a house in Cleveland just to sell it.

Shortly before the New York Giants traded wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, general manager Dave Gettleman was quoted on multiple occasions saying, “we didn’t sign him to trade him.”

Obviously that rung hallow when OBJ was dealt, and it’s a quote that has haunted Gettleman from the moment is escaped his lips.

On Wednesday, amid rumors that he’d like to leave Cleveland and has been telling opponents to come get him, Beckham went back to the well and used Gettleman’s own quote to not only troll the Giants, but express his desire to remain with the Browns.

“I didn’t buy a house here to sell it,” Beckham told Cleveland reporters.

Ice cold.

Beckham has taken pot shots at the Giants with remarkable frequency since even prior to his trade, but has quieted down quite a bit this season — probably because the Browns have done a nosedive.

To Beckham’s credit however, this latest troll is actually quite humorous. As were some of his other responses to the rumors that he wants out of Cleveland.

Most of Beckham’s shtick has grown old and tired, but you’ve got to give credit where it’s due… Beckham came across as quite amusing and genuine on Wednesday, even if some of that humor was used to poke fun at the Giants.

Well done, OBJ. You win the day… This time.
