Top Swimming Recruit Chris Guiliano Commits to Notre Dame

Notre Dame suffered a blow in April when Zach Yeadon, an All-American distance swimmer, entered the NCAA transfer portal after three years.

Notre Dame suffered a blow in April when Zach Yeadon, an All-American distance swimmer, entered the NCAA transfer portal after three years. A month later, there’s some good news to be had. It won’t help the program right away, but there’s more hope for the future now.

Chris Guiliano, the top sprint swimmer from the Class of 2021 who had yet to commit anymore, has verbally committed to Notre Dame. During his junior season at Daniel Boone High School in Douglassville, Pennsylvania, he won a state championship in the 200-yard freestyle. He might have won more events were it not for the cancelation of the rest of the meet.

There’s a good reason Guiliano is regarded as Notre Dame’s top recruit from the Class of 2021. He’s already putting up times that would blow past most of the team. His personal best of 20.27 seconds in the 50 freestyle would have been the second-best on the Irish, his 1:351.81 would have been third, and his 44.29 in the 100 freestyle would have been fourth. For an Irish team that struggled in sprint events last season, Guiliano can’t arrive in South Bend soon enough.

Four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin includes Ohio State in top ten

It’s down to ten for four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are one of his ten finalists.

It’s down to ten for four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are one of his ten finalists. McCutchin is the tenth-ranked cornerback in the nation and thee 14th-best recruit in Texas according to 247Sports.

Losing both Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette this season to the NFL Draft, the Buckeyes will be bringing in just one four-star cornerback to tag team with Shaun Wade. Though Cam Williams could also end up there.

They’ll eventually need strong reinforcements, and that could come in the form of the Class of 2021.

Along with a pair of safeties, the Buckeyes have one four-star and one three-star cornerback also committed to the Class of 2021. That said, McCutchin would be a big-time get for the star-studded program.

Here are the other finalists for the Texas-native who surprisingly kept the Longhorns out of his top ten.

Several of these programs are among the best in the nation, but looking at the list, one thing pops out.

The bulk of them are southern schools. Over half are from the SEC, making the conference many view as the best top to bottom the ultimate favorite for McCutchin.

However, 247 Sports’ lead expert on McCutchin, Brandon Drumm, gives Oklahoma an 83% chance at securing his talents.

Let’s hope the legacy of Ohio State cornerbacks can get them to the top of the race before the potential star commits.

Talented safety Dakota Mitchell makes commitment

Talented three-star 2021 safety Dakota Mitchell has reached his commitment. Mitchell chose between LSU, Georgia, and Florida.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators were in another recruiting battle over this time over talented recruit Dakota Mitchell. Both teams missed their mark in this one as Dakota Mitchell committed to the LSU Tigers.

Mitchell is a three-star safety in the class of 2021. Mitchell announced his commitment via his Twitter account:

Georgia, Florida and LSU made his top three via Twitter:

For now, Mitchell is finishing his junior year in high school. He plays high school football at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida.

Mitchell is another talented recruit to be lured out of the state of Florida. Kirby Smart and Georgia have had previous success luring elite talent out of Florida, but this time coach Ed Orgeron and LSU lured Mitchell to Baton Rouge.

Dan Mullen and Florida are trying to prevent Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Clemson and others from taking over the state, but Florida, FSU and Miami have lost the battle over the past decade.

Jon Kitna’s son, Jalen, receives offer from Oregon State

Jalen Kitna, the son of former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Jon Kitna, received a scholarship offer to play quarterback at Oregon State.

Jon Kitna’s football career started in nearby Tacoma, before continuing at Central Washington University and eventually landing him in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.

It wasn’t until he was 28 years old and in his fifth NFL season that he played somewhere outside of the state of Washington, in 2001 when he started for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The same story will not be told for his son, Jalen Kitna, who stars at Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas and is among the 20 best quarterback recruits in the Class of 2021.

Kitna certainly won’t follow in his dads footsteps at Central, but he recently visited Oregon State University and received a scholarship offer – so there’s at least a chance he plays some of his college games in Washington.

“I really liked it,” Kitna said. “The whole offensive staff was there to meet me and I really feel like they are a great coaching staff that does it right.”

Kitna originally committed to Boston College last summer, but has reopened his plans and has now received offers from a ton of big name schools, including Florida, Yale, Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee and Georgia Tech.

Kitna may not take the same path to the NFL as his dad, but he’ll hope to have the same level of success after Jon played 14 seasons and threw for just under 30,000 total yards, with 7,552 of them coming in a Seahawks uniform.

UGA football among Bralyn Oliver’s top schools

Bralyn Oliver, a three-star safety, out of Honea Path, South Carolina put Georgia, Tennessee, Louisville, and others in his top schools.

Bralyn Oliver, a class of 2021 recruiting target for Georgia, is from Honea Path, South Carolina. Oliver plays at Belton Honea Path High School.

The three-star was the first player to commit to Georgia in the class of 2021. The safety announced his de-commitment on November 25th via Twitter:

Now, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisville, Duke and others were in the safety’s top ten. Oliver later deleted the Tweet.

Georgia is still building the class of 2021. Kirby Smart and Georgia is putting together a solid class of 2020, which has the early signing day this Wednesday. Oliver could help replace the loss of JR Reed after this season and the eventual departure of Richard LeCounte and Lewis Cine. Oliver likely wants to stay close to his South Carolina home.
