Alabama Football: Offensive newcomers who could make an impact this spring

Offensive newcomers who could make an instant impact for Alabama this spring!

Spring football practice is starting to heat up and take center stage for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

All eyes of the Crimson Tide faithful now will focus on what Alabama will look like in the 2023 football season and the first glimpse that Tide fans will receive will be on April 22 in the annual A-Day game.

Although Alabama finished the 2022-23 season with 11 wins, you get the feeling that coach Saban and Alabama are looking to make a statement this fall.

Alabama will start week three of spring practice on Monday and will conclude the week with the spring’s first scrimmage on Friday.

With all of the hype of football being back in Tuscaloosa, here are some names of newcomers who could make an impact this spring on the offensive side of the ball for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama lands Maryland transfer TE CJ Dippre

Maryland transfer tight end CJ DIppre announced that he was transferring to Alabama on Tuesday. He chose the Tide over Ohio State.

On Tuesday, Alabama landed a commitment from Maryland transfer tight end CJ Dippre. He chose the Tide over Ohio State.

The Pennsylvania native took an official visit several weekends ago to Tuscaloosa. He then visited Columbus to check out the Buckeyes. In the end, Alabama was able to win a much-needed recruiting battle for Dippre. With starting tight end Cam Latu possibly leaving for the NFL, his commitment could be more crucial for the Tide.

In two seasons in College Park, Dippre hauled in 33 receptions for 339 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

It is unclear how the Alabama coaching staff plans to utilize Dippre in their offense. However, he could prove to be very vital to the Tide’s offensive success next season. He is a reliable, big-bodied tight end at 6-foot-5, 260 pounds. Dippre is another big-time player added to an already star-studded roster for whoever Alabama’s next offensive coordinator is.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football and the transfer portal.

Ohio State once again can’t close on a transfer portal prospect, commits to Alabama

The search for a transfer tight end continues

The Buckeyes have not had much luck with transfer portal prospects this cycle. Two of their offensive line targets ([autotag]Ajani Cornelius[/autotag] and [autotag]Jeremiah Byers[/autotag]) visited but opted to go elsewhere.

[autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] had a chance to change that narrative with Maryland tight end [autotag]CJ Dippre[/autotag], who was choosing between the Buckeyes and Alabama. Unfortunately, this one did not go Ohio State’s way. On Tuesday, Dippre chose the Crimson Tide as his next destination.

This isn’t how Day saw this going. Tight end might not be at the forefront of team needs, but it is on the list.

The Buckeyes will most likely lose [autotag]Cade Stover[/autotag], and there is not much returning depth behind him. It looks like Ohio State is back to searching for another tight end.

Alabama target transfer TE CJ Dippre to decide between 2 top programs

Could Alabama land the Maryland transfer TE?

With the 2022 college football regular season over, the NCAA transfer portal has been very active. One name in the mix is former Maryland tight end C.J. Dippre.

Dippre joined Maryland as a three-star prospect in the 2021 class.

In two seasons with the program, he amassed a total of 33 receptions for 339 yards and three touchdowns.

The 6-foot-5 tight end announce via Twitter that he has narrowed his transfer search to two schools: Alabama and Ohio State.

The Crimson Tide has an interesting history with tight ends, as they haven’t been utilized all too much. O.J. Howard was the last prominent pass-catching tight end to come through the program. In 2021, Cameron Latu stepped up as a key receiver, but di not rise to the level of Howard.

Dippre will announce his decision on Dec. 27 and Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow him and other potential Alabama transfers as the 2023 offseason approaches.

Transfer tight end will select between Ohio State and Alabama next week

The tight end will pick from two national powers #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team is looking to bolster its tight end room and has turned its sights to the transfer portal to do so. With [autotag]Cade Stover[/autotag] being a senior and most likely making the move off to the [autotag]NFL[/autotag], there isn’t much depth behind him.

Backup [autotag]Gee Scott Jr.[/autotag] got some run but what sticks out in all of our minds was his stupid head-butt that lead to a personal foul penalty against our rivals. His five catches for 28 yards and a score aren’t too inspiring either, and Scott Jr. is still learning the position after entering the program as a wide receiver.

Enter [autotag]Maryland[/autotag] transfer [autotag]CJ Dippre[/autotag], who was just a bit short of what Stover accomplished this fall, catching 30 passes for 314 yards and three scores. He visited Columbus this past weekend and also took a trip to Tuscaloosa to visit Alabama, his other finalist.

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has not had much luck in the transfer portal this season but that could all change if Dippre chooses the Buckeyes on December 27th. The opportunity for playing time is there and he is obviously familiar with the conference as well.

Alabama extends offer to Maryland TE transfer CJ Dippre

Maryland tight end transfer CJ Dippre took an official visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend and received an offer from the Tide.

After taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa, Maryland tight end transfer CJ Dippre announced that he had received an offer from the Tide. This is the first player from the transfer portal that the Alabama coaching staff has offered this offseason.

Dippre spent two seasons in College Park playing for former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley, the head coach of the Terrapins. As a member of the 2021 recruiting class, his role was relatively small.

However, the Pennsylvania native caught on to the offense and played an exclusive role in the Terrapins’ offense. This season, Dippre hauled in 30 receptions for 314 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Since entering the transfer portal, Dippre has received offers from numerous programs. Several that have offered him thus far are Ole Miss, South Carolina, Illinois, Nebraska, and Rutgers. The biggest threat appears to be the Scarlet Knights as he almost committed to Greg Schiano’s program out of high school.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football’s involvement in the NCAA transfer portal.
