Giants waive Chris Myarick from injured reserve

The New York Giants have waived tight end/fullback Chris Myarick from injured reserve (IR).

On Monday evening, the New York Giants waived tight end (H-back) Chris Myarick off of injured reserve (IR).

Myarick was placed on IR at the time of final cuts after suffering a broken hand in the Giants’ preseason finale. He was expected to miss the season.

The 28-year-old Myarick originally signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 2019. He spent two seasons in South Florida before signing with the Giants in 2021.

Myarick was waived at the end of the 2021 season but was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals, placed on the practice squad, and remained with the team through their Super Bowl run.

At the conclusion of that season, Myarick re-signed with the Giants on a reserve/futures deal.

In 27 career games (11 starts), all with the Giants, Myarick has hauled in 10 receptions for 82 yards and two touchdowns. He saw his most significant number of snaps a season ago after he was converted from tight end to fullback/H-back.

Once he clears waivers, Myarick will be free to sign with another team.

Giants place Chris Myarick on season-ending injured reserve

The New York Giants have placed tight end Chris Myarick (hand) on season-ending injured reserve (IR) and made thee other roster moves.

The New York Giants continue to pare down their roster ahead of Tuesday’s 4:00 p.m. ET deadline, placing tight end Chris Myarick on injured reserve, ending his season.

They also released three other players with injury designations.

Myarick has been with the Giants since being signed as a free agent back in 2020. He has played in 27 games over three seasons, starting 11.

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound former Temple star was unlikely to earn a spot on the Giants’ 53-man roster as the tight end room is quite crowded with Darren Waller, Daniel Bellinger, Tommy Sweeney, and Lawrence Cager ahead of Myarick on the depth chart.

Giants fall to Jets, 32-24, in Week 3 of preseason: 7 takeaways

The New York Giants fell to the New York Jets in Week 3 of the preseason and here are 7 quick takeaways from the game.

The New York Giants dropped their preseason finale to the New York Jets, 32-24, on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Here are seven takeaways from the final game of their exhibition season.

Giants fall to Jets in preseason finale as injuries pile up

The New York Giants dropped their preseason finale to the New York Jets and lost several players to injury in the process.

The New York Giants faced off against the New York Jets on Saturday night at MetLife Stadium in the final preseason game for both teams.

The game held significance in several ways. It was the Jets debut for superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the final game for many young hopefuls on both sides who are competing for roster spots to strut their stuff as final cuts are due Tuesday afternoon.

The Giants, as the ‘home’ team, wore their blue jerseys while the Jets wore all white. Two veterans — wide receiver Sterling Shepard and linebacker Jihad Ward — served as game captains for Big Blue.

Gametime temperature was a balmy 84 degrees with 49 percent humidity and a slight wind of six miles per hour.

7 Giants on the roster bubble heading into first preseason game

Here’s a look at seven New York Giants players on the roster bubble headed into their Friday night preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

The New York Giants open their preseason on Friday night against the Detroit Lions following two joint practices earlier this week.

It remains unclear who head coach Brian Daboll will play and who he won’t, but it’s a safe bet that players on the roster bubble will see extended time. The Giants have several tough decisions to make in a few weeks and would like to compile as much information as possible.

It’s make-or-break time for a number of players, including the following seven who are firmly on the bubble. Some will play, potentially helping their chances, and at least one will not.

Giants activate Xavier McKinney from NFI, release David Sills

In an unexpected turnaround, the New York Giants have activated safety Xavier McKinney from NFI and he will play on Sunday versus the Colts.

New York Giants safety Xavier McKinney returned to practice this week, officially opening his 21-day window to return from the non-football injury (NFI) list.

McKinney last played in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks before fracturing several fingers on his left hand in an ATV accident during the team’s bye. The injury required surgery and stabilizing pins.

Head coach Brian Daboll said the chances of McKinney playing in a Week 17 game against the Indianapolis Colts were not good, but that outlook changed over the past 48 hours.

On Saturday evening, the Giants activated McKinney from NFI and gave him the green light to play on Sunday.

“Man, I want to get back big time. The coaches know that, and the trainers know that. They know that I really want to get back and I’m kind of running out of patience here,” McKinney said on Thursday.

In order to clear space for McKinney on the 53-man roster, the Giants released wide receiver David Sills. He is likely to return to the practice squad next week.

Additionally, the Giants elevated tight end Chris Myarick and defensive back Zyon Gilbert from the practice squad to the active roster.

Myarick had been waived and re-signed to the reserve unit earlier in the week. That swap allowed the Giants to claim offensive lineman Wyatt Davis off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

Gilbert’s elevation likely means that cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (knee) will be inactive against the Colts. He was previously listed as doubtful to play.

Giants claim OL Wyatt Davis, waive TE Chris Myarick

The New York Giants have claimed OL Wyatt Davis off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals and waived TE Chris Myarick.

The New York Giants have claimed offensive lineman Wyatt Davis, who had a cup of coffee with the team in September, off of waivers from the Arizona Cardinals.

Davis was signed to the Giants’ practice squad shortly after final cuts but was poached by the New Orleans Saints just a few days later.

The Saints waived Davis in early November, which is how he found his way to Arizona. They then waived him on Tuesday.

Davis was a third-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2021 NFL draft. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder had a stellar career at Ohio State and was named Rimington–Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2020.

The decision to claim Davis likely came with the future in mind. He will become an exclusive rights free agent in March, which will provide the Giants an opportunity to keep him at a cheap cost.

In order to clear room for Davis on their 53-man roster, the Giants waived fullback/tight end Chris Myarick.

In 15 games this season, Myarick had seven receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown.

Provided he clears waivers, it’s likely the Giants will re-sign Myarick to their practice squad.

Giants fall to Cowboys: Winners, losers and those in between

The New York Giants fell to the Cowboys, 28-20, in Week 12 and here’s a look at our winners and losers (and those in between) from the game.

The New York Giants fell to 7-4 on the season with a 28-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. It wasn’t as ugly as some anticipated, but it wasn’t necessarily pretty, either.

The Giants blew an early second half lead and couldn’t seem to get anything going again until it was too late. In a game of inches, they came up a few short entirely too many times.

The opportunities were there but Brian Daboll’s group just couldn’t capitalize.

Here’s some winners, losers and in-betweens from Thursday’s loss.

Giants injury report: Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay remain sidelined

New York Giants wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Kenny Golladay continue missing practice, while QB Tyrod Taylor returned on Thursday.

The New York Giants practiced indoors on Thursday due to the inclement weather in East Rutherford, and were once again saddled with a lengthy injury list.

On the positive end of the spectrum, quarterback Tyrod Taylor cleared concussion protocol and rejoined his teammates. And despite being limited for the second consecutive day, head coach Brian Daboll said he had no concerns about running back Saquon Barkley handling a full workload in Week 6.

Unfortunately for the Giants, not all news was good news. Wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney continue to be sidelined by injury, and were joined by tight end Tanner Hudson.

The Giants’ Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring), DB Tony Jefferson (foot), DB Jason Pinnock (ankle), TE Tanner Hudson (illness), DL Jihad Ward (not injury related)

Limited participant: WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), DL Leonard Williams (knee), LB Azeez Ojulari (calf), CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee/neck), RB Saquon Barkley (shoulder), CB Darnay Holmes (quad), TE Chris Myarick (ankle)

Full participant: P Jamie Gillan (not injury related), QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion)

The New York Giants returned to practice on Wednesday but remain without wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday following their stunning victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.

However, they were noticeably shorthanded as the injury list continues to grow. Saquon Barkley, Adoree’ Jackson and Tony Jefferson were among the new additions, but all participated on at least a limited basis.

The same could not be said for wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney, who remain sidelined with their respective injuries.

The Giants’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), CB Cor’Dale Flott (calf), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring), P Jamie Gillan (not injury related), DB Tony Jefferson (foot), DB Jason Pinnock (ankle)

Limited participant: WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), DL Leonard Williams (knee), QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion), LB Azeez Ojulari (calf), CB Adoree’ Jackson (knee/neck), RB Saquon Barkley (shoulder), CB Darnay Holmes (quad), TE Chris Myarick (ankle)
