How Georgia football’s elite signing class ranks

Where the Georgia Bulldogs’ No. 1 recruiting class stacks up compared to the rest of the nation a week from the beginning of early signing period.

247Sports released its latest rankings for the 2025 recruit class. All teams are looking to beef up their class ahead of Dec. 4, the beginning of the early signing period.

The Georgia Bulldogs are the nation’s best recruiting class. The Bulldogs earned the SEC’s top spot after cornerback Dominick Kelly reclassified from 2026 to 2025. Georgia earned the distinction of the nation’s top overall class after four-star edge rusher Chase Linton committed.

Despite having the best recruiting class, Georgia is still looking to improve it. The Bulldogs are in contact with an elite Boise State quarterback commit to find a 2025 replacement for Carson Beck. Georgia is also expecting a big announcement from a four-star offensive tackle prospect.

There have been notable changes in the rankings. Alabama holds the No. 2 spot instead of Ohio State after the Crimson Tide flipped a four-star running back recruit from Michigan State. The Michigan Wolverines soar to No. 10 after five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU.  The Florida Gators enter the rankings at No. 17 after they flipped a four-star linebacker from USC and landed two three-stars.

Georgia’s recruit class includes five five-stars, including Elijah Griffin, and 19 four-stars. It’s an incredible feat, especially since the SEC has six of the nation’s top 10 recruiting classes.

Who has the top 10 football recruiting classes of 2024?

Florida is the only team with a top 10 recruiting ranking that has a higher average commitment rating than the Georgia Bulldogs

It is still early in the process for the class of 2024 recruiting cycle. However, several college football programs are laying down excellent foundations for their signing classes.

The Ohio State Buckeyes recently surpassed the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2024 recruiting rankings. Georgia had held the recruiting crown for a while with the class of 2024. Both the Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines are very hot on the recruiting trail.

The Alabama Crimson Tide usually start slowly in the recruiting process. However, Nick Saban and company typically finish with a top recruiting class. True to form, the Crimson Tide have the nation’s No. 19 recruiting class, per 247Sports. Notably, Alabama has more commitments from five-star recruits than any of other program.

Here’s where the college football recruiting rankings for the 2024 cycle stand:

Georgia football is a recruiting machine at this point. The Bulldogs have three No. 1 classes in the last five years and finished with the No. 4 ranked class in the country in 2021 (247Sports).

A look at where Georgia football ranks in the 2021 recruiting rankings

Where does Georgia football rank in the 2021 CFB recruiting rankings?

Despite what you may hear from Georgia fans, the Bulldogs are actually in great position for the 2021 recruiting class.

You can say what you want about Kirby Smart – he can’t coach quarterbacks, he’s wasting talent, etc. – but if there’s one thing you can’t say it’s that he does not know how to recruit.

Georgia has the No. 5 recruiting class in the country for the class 2021, trailing Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Oregon.

On Wednesday, the Bulldogs picked up a five-star outside linebacker, Smael Mondon out of Paulding County.

Georgia’s class consists of three five-stars, 11 four-stars and 5 three-stars.

5 stars:

OT Amarius Mims

QB Brock Vandagriff

OLB Smael Mondon

Social media reacts to 4-star RB Daijun Edwards committing to Georgia football

Social media reacted to the news of Daijun Edwards picking Georgia football.

On Thursday, Georgia football received a commitment from 4-star running back Daijun Edwards, out of Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia.

The commitment of Edwards gives the Bulldogs 22 players in 2020 and helped moved UGA to the No. 1 spot in the class rankings, overtaking Alabama.

The commitment of Edwards likely means 5-star ball carrier Zachary Evans will not be a Dawg after all. Evans signed with Georgia originally but Kirby Smart granted the No. 1 back’s request and released him of his National Letter of Intent.
