Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher pulled off the recruiting coup of the summer after landing 2024 five-star wide receiver Cameron “Cam” Coleman on July 4, which may have come as a surprise to most of us. Still, after developing a lasting relationship with Fisher and his staff since his freshman year at Central (AL), the Aggies were always in the running.
In the first two games during his final senior season, Coleman helped lead Central to wins over Hewitt-Trussville while recording nine receptions for 140 yards and two touchdowns in their season opener, following it up with six receptions for 115 yards and three touchdowns, including a 54-yard score in Central’s 51-0 shutout vs. Smith’s Station.
After a so-so showing (3 receptions, 48 yards) in the 48-7 victory against Enterprise last week, Coleman once again created a single-game highlight reel in Central’s 28-18 win over Opelika to reach 4-0 on the young season, reeling in a 37-yard touchdown to pad the lead with two minutes remaining in the first half.

For those who only pay attention to the five-star designation, Coleman’s consistent playmaking ability, coupled with his deep speed and twitchy athleticism, separates him from most of his fellow 2024 wide receivers in the cycle and joins Drelon Miller, Debron Gatling, Jaylan Hornsby, and Earnest Campbell at the position in one of the more loaded wide receiver stables.
While Coleman remains fully committed to the Maroon and White, first-year Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, who has already pulled off several notable recruiting flips since his arrival, joined Texas A&M WR coach Dameyune Craig on the sideline to take in Coleman’s outing, so definitely something to watch out for ahead of National Signing Day in February.
