Zombies are back in ‘Call of Duty: Vanguard’

More like, Call of the Living Dead.

Zombie mode is making its glorious return in Call of Duty: Vanguard, Activision announced Thursday.

“Zombies,” as it’s more commonly known, is one of the series most popular modes — and we’ve not seen it for several years. So its return in Call of Duty: Vanguard is a welcome surprise. After all, who doesn’t love grouping up with some friends to crack some undead skulls of the concrete? Nobody, that’s who.

Zombies in Call of Duty: Vanguard  looks like it’ll be pretty similar to how it was in past entries in the series. At least, if the trailer is any indication, check it out for yourself below.

There’ll be an extended gameplay reveal for the mode tomorrow for anyone that can’t wait to see more. Though Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch, co-developers of Call of Duty: Vanguard, did leave us with some interesting nuggets of information today. Chiefly among them that this will continue the Dark Aether storyline.

Vanguard Zombies reveals that entities from the Dark Aether dimension had contact with humans going back centuries,” Treyarch said  on Call of Duty’s  blog. “We’ll get a better sense of what was happening in the Dark Aether before the events at Projekt Endstation changed everything.”

It’ll be interesting to see the full breakdown from Sledgehammer and Treyarch tomorrow. Yesterday, Activision announced its new Ricochet anti-cheat would be coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard as well. So at least we know none of those undead buggers will be cheating!

Call of Duty Warzone: The biggest changes in Season 4

All you need to know about Warzone’s season 4 update.

A new Call of Duty: Warzone update has arrived, which means you’ll need to clear out some hard drive space for another massive download. Activision’s mega-popular battle royale game is entering Season 4, and developer Infinity Ward is making some huge changes to the game to keep things fresh. Here’s a quick rundown of all the things you need to know before dropping into your next match:

Mid-game events

Season 4 adds new Warzone events that can trigger midway through a game and have a dramatic effect on the outcome.

A Jailbreak allows every player who has died up to that point to return to the game, even if you’ve failed to win your Gulag match. (This should hopefully reduce the amount of people who quit games early.)

A Fire Sale reduces the cost of nearly everything at a buy station for a span of 60 seconds (except for loadout drops), and makes teammate buybacks free.

A Supply Chopper spawns a tanky helicopter on the map that players can shoot down to drop valuable loot – but even if you manage to take down the chopper, other players can steal your loot on the ground, so be careful.

Contraband

Contraband is a new special type of contract where you’ll need to deliver a package to a helicopter extraction point. You have a chance to earn a blueprint for completing a contraband contract.

Warzone Rumble

There’s a new mode in Season 4 called Warzone Rumble, which is a 50 vs. 50 team deathmatch style game.

New Weapons

Season 4 introduces the Fennec (SMG), CR-56 Amax (AR), and Renetti (pistol).

Call of Duty adds ‘Black Lives Matter’ screen to Modern Warfare, Warzone

“Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.”

One of the most popular video games in the world is making a statement in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Overnight, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its standalone Warzone mode – which has over 50 million players – was updated with a “Black Lives Matter” screen that appears each time you launch the game. The screen also appears in Warzone while each match is loading.

Earlier this week, developer Infinity Ward announced that it was taking measures to eliminate racist and hate-oriented names and clan tags by improving filters and making it easier to players to report offensive content.

“Our community is hurting. The systemic inequalities our community experiences are once again center stage. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward stand for equality and inclusion. We stand against the racism and injustice our Black community endures. Until change happens and Black Lives Matter, we will never truly be the community we strive to be.”

Here’s your chance to play video games with Chris Godwin

Chris Godwin is offering fans the chance to play “Call of Duty” with him to help save homeless dogs.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin proved to be a star on the field last season, catching 86 passes for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.

While we may never get the chance to line up and play alongside Godwin on the field, the Bucs receiver is offering fans a chance to play along with him in Call of Duty.

Check out this screenshot from Godwin’s Instagram story.

Playing video games with the Pro Bowler and helping animals? Sounds like a win-win all around.

Josh Hart and Team NBA beat Team NFL in SLAM Call of Duty tourney

Pelicans guard Josh Hart had some adversity, but he kept his perfect Call of Duty tourney record intact Saturday.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart is passionate about Call of Duty.

Hart competed in SLAM’s sixth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament Saturday, and he had to express his emotions — after all, his undefeated record was on the line.

In a video that’s gone viral, Hart smashed his keyboard after a bout of frustration over the game. Despite the close series, though, Hart’s record remained flawless. He and Team NBA defeated Team NFL, 4-3, coming back from a 3-1 series deficit.

The keyboard suffered defeat when the Hart and Team NBA were at their lowest.

The two teams were playing Search and Destroy on the map Hackney Yard, and it was the fourth game of the series. Team NFL had been up 2-1 in the tourney, and the NBA squad needed a win. Team NFL went on to win Search and Destroy, 6-4, and took a commanding 3-1 lead.

Warning: The video below contains explicit language.

Though it resulted in a loss, the match was one of Hart’s best of the series. He had nine kills, the second-highest on the team behind Golden State Warriors rookie Eric Paschall.

The rest of the NBA team included Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. Team NFL included Cleveland Browns receiver Jarvis Landry and Browns running back Kareem Hunt. In addition, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds competed, along with Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton.

Hart was an important part of Team NBA’s comeback. During Capture the Flag on Rammaza, he finished with 18 kills and tallied a capture.

The hoopers won Capture the Flag, 4-1, and then Hart had another good performance in Game 6 of the series, a game of Headquarters on Crash. Hart had 19 kills and two captures, along with a team-high two defends. Team NBA won, 200-33, on Headquarters.

With Hart keeping his perfect record intact, even through some adversity, he’s shown he’s one of the most reliable and consistent Call of Duty players in the NBA.

Eric Paschall helps lead Team NBA to win in SLAM Call of Duty tourney

Warriors rookie Eric Paschall had a solid performance in his first SLAM Call of Duty tournament.

Golden State Warriors rookie Eric Paschall and a group of fellow NBA players were on the brink of a virtual loss.

Paschall and some other hoopers played against Team NFL on Saturday in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament.

With the series tied at 3-3, the two squads had been going back in forth during the last match, a game of Search and Destroy on the map Shoot House. Team NBA defeated Team NFL, 6-5, to win the tournament.

Paschall was pivotal in the series clincher. He tallied 11 kills, the second-highest number on the squad.

The rest of the team included Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart and Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell.

The team of mostly NFL players included Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds, along with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Cleveland Browns receiver Jarvis Landry, Browns running back Kareem Hunt and Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton were also on the team.

During the second game of the series, Team NBA was routed 200-90 in Headquarters on Talsik Backlot. But this game was perhaps Paschall’s best performance. He had a team-high 26 kills and a team-best two defends.

Before the final game of the tourney, the teams had split two games of Search and Destroy.

The NBA took the tournament’s opening match, winning 6-5 in Search and Destroy on Gun Runner. The NFL won 6-4 during the second Search and Destroy game, which was on Hackney Yard; the football players took a 3-1 lead in the series with that win.

Paschall had a team-high 11 kills in the Hackney Yard game, and he continued to be a valuable player as the NBA squad rallied back from a 3-1 series deficit.

He had nine kills when Team NBA won, 4-1, in Capture the Flag. Then, when the NBA needed to force Game 7, Paschall contributed with 12 kills on Headquarters. His team won, 200-33, on the map Crash to tie the series at 3-3.

Paschall was a newcomer in SLAM’s tourney, and with his solid performance, perhaps he will be invited back to have some fun on the sticks.

Alvin Kamara set to guest-star on ‘Call of Duty’ Twitch stream

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara will guest-star in the debut of a new Twitch stream video game channel from Bleacher Report.

[jwplayer cfFkvnkH-ThvAeFxT]

Many Americans have responded differently to various stay-at-home and shelter-in-place orders due to the novel coronavirus, and the New Orleans Saints are no exception. Drew Brees has used his new free time to negotiate a post-retirement broadcasting contract with NBC, while Sean Payton has gotten active on Twitter and taken to cyberbulling the NFC South-rival Atlanta Falcons.

As for Alvin Kamara: he’s playing a lot of “Call of Duty,” as are many other 24-year-olds around the country. But he’s not just honing his skills in the popular video game. Kamara agreed to become the first guest on “The Warzone,” a new Twitch-streamed program from Bleacher Report, where he’ll be joining senior writer Master Testfatsion for a few hours of mayhem and casual conversation.

Kamara is scheduled to appear from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT on Monday; you can follow along at this link. The Saints’ Pro Bowl running back recently debuted his own Twitch channel where he can be seen chatting with fans while competing with friends and other pro athletes. With most of the early offseason program canceled and Saints players staying at home, this might be the most we’ll see of Kamara for quite some time.

Josh Hart helps snag a win in SLAM’s latest Call of Duty tourney

Josh Hart is one of the most reliable and consistent Call of Duty gamers in the NBA.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart maintained his perfect record Saturday in SLAM’s fourth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare tournament.

The tourney was close, with the squad of NBA players defeating a team made up of mostly high school players, 4-3, in a seven game series.

Hart’s team included Miami Heat big man Meyers Leonard, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Kevin Porter Jr. Ben Simmons played in a couple of the games, but he wasn’t able to play for the first three matches. He was out in the latter half of the series because of technical difficulties.

The other team was made up of Kentucky commits Terrence Clarke and Isaiah Jackson, along with fellow high school hoopers Jalen Suggs and Adam Miller. Former Duke point guard Tre Jones also was on the team.

Hart wasn’t the star of the NBA team, but he was a solid contributor. The NBA squad had one of its closest games in the third game of the series. The two teams played Domination on the map Vacant.

Hart finished with 24 kills, and his team won 200-195. Booker, who was the MVP of last week’s tourney, had a team-high 40 kills in Domination.

One of Hart’s best performances came when the two teams played Capture the Flag on Rammaza. The NBA team won 2-0, and Hart had 15 kills, the third-highest mark on the team behind Booker and Fox. He also had one of the two captures, with Simmons snagging the other one.

As a regular in the Call of Duty tourneys, Hart has been a staple for his teams. With Hart being around other skilled gamers such as Leonard, Fox and Booker, he can be a viable sidekick for players who are just as good or better than him.
