Brandon Miller named to Midseason Wooden Award Watch List

Brandon Miller’s outstanding play has landed him on the midseason Wooden Award watch list!

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been incredible out of the gate starting the season 12-2 with a handful of top-10 wins already. A large reason for that success is five-star true freshman [autotag]Brandon Miller[/autotag].

Coming out of high school, Miller was the No. 5 small forward in the country and the No. 14 player overall. Upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa, Miller has been nothing short of the best player for the Tide this season averaging 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists through his first 14 collegiate games.

For his outstanding efforts to start the Tide’s 2022-2023 campaign, Miller has been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 watch list. The Wooden Award is given out annually to the most outstanding men’s and women’s college basketball players.

If Miller continues to carry the Tide and push for a No. 1 seed come March, he will have a very legitimate case!

Where Alabama ranks in ESPN’s Basketball Power Index ahead of matchup with Kentucky

According to ESPN’s BPI, Alabama continues to be viewed as one of the top teams in the country.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team currently sit with a 12-2 overall record and a 2-0 record within the SEC.

Up next for the Tide is a matchup with SEC powerhouse Kentucky. Fortunately, Oats and the Tide will be in the friendly confines of Coleman Coliseum for the contests with the Wildcats.

Before the Tide tips things off with Kentucky on Saturday, let’s look at where Alabama ranks in the latest update of ESPN’s Basketball Power Index.

According to ESPN, the BPI is a “measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of performance going forward. BPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Strength of Record (SOR) is a measure of team accomplishment based on how difficult a team’s W-L record is to achieve. Game predictions account for opponent strength, pace of play, site, travel distance, day’s rest, and altitude, and are used to simulate the season 10,000 times to produce season projections. Numbers update daily.”

Here is a breakdown of where Alabama ranks in the BPI.

Everything Nate Oats said following Alabama’s 84-62 win over Ole Miss

Everything Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats said following the Tide’s 84-62 win over Ole Miss on Tuesday night.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team improved to 12-2 on the season Tuesday night with an 84-62 drumming of SEC rival Ole Miss.

Alabama is now 2-0 in SEC play and now has a massive matchup with Kentucky at home on Saturday.

To the surprise of no one, Alabama was led by Brandon Miller (17), Mark Sears (16), and Jaden Bradley (14) in the win over the Rebels.

Following the Crimson Tide’s dominating win on Tuesday night, coach Oats would discuss his team’s performance with members of the media.

Here is everything coach Oats had to say after his team took care of business on Tuesday night.

Crimson Tide jump to No. 7 in latest MBB AP Poll

Crimson Tide continues climbing in the top 10 in this weeks rankings

The Crimson Tide only saw action once last week in a 78-67 victory over No. 21 Mississippi State, but it was enough to move up to No. 7 in the most recent AP Poll. Alabama has expectations of an SEC Championship this year and now is when they will really be put to the test.

Alabama has been outstanding to start the season. Currently an 11-2 record with a couple of massive wins that will help come seeding time in March. Brandon Miller has arguably been the best player in the country to start the year.

Alabama will next face Ole Miss at home before taking on Kentucky.

How to watch Nate Oats and Alabama take on Ole Miss in their SEC home opener.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team will be back on the hardwood Tuesday night to take on the Ole Miss Rebels for their second SEC game of the season.

Alabama is a double-digit favorite over the Rebels who have had an up-and-down season so far in Oxford.

Ole Miss dropped their SEC opener last week against Tennessee in heartbreak fashion with a 63-59 loss to the Vols.

Alabama began SEC play with an impressive win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road in Starkville.

Brandon Miller and Mark Sears will try and help lead the Tide to victory in their SEC home opener. Here is everything you need to know to catch all the action between the Tide and the Rebels.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team had one of the most impressive non-conference performances in the country. Now, the Tide hoops team will look to carry that positive momentum into SEC play when they travel to Starkville to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Wednesday night’s matchup will not be easy for No. 9 Alabama as the Bulldogs are also off to an impressive start and are currently ranked No. 20.

Alabama and Mississippi State have long been hoops rivals and under coach Oats and new Bulldog head coach Chris Jans, I expect that to continue.

Here is everything you need to know to catch all the action between Alabama and Mississippi State.

LOOK: Alabama basketball statistical leaders entering SEC play

With SEC play right around the corner, who has been Alabama’s statistical leaders

The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team wrapped up out-of-conference play with an 84-64 victory over Jackson State on Tuesday. The Tide enter SEC play at 10-2 and ranked No. 9 in the country. The Tide’s only two losses have come against No. 2 UConn and No. 11 Gonzaga.

Noah Clowney is averaging just shy of nine rebounds a game and JQ leads the way with 4.1 APG. Below, see the statistical leader breakdown by each category.

Everything Nate Oats said following win over Jackson State

Everything Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats said following the Tide’s 84-64 win over Jackson State.

Alabama’s 84-64 win over Jackson State on Tuesday night was not always the best-looking performance from the Crimson Tide, but it was enough to get the job done.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Tide are now 10-2 on the season as we dive into the Christmas break before kick-starting SEC play next week against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Alabama had five players score in double figures with a pair of those being a little bit surprising in Noah Gurley and Nick Pringle.

A strong second-half performance was the difference in the matchup as the Crimson Tide outscored the Tigers 51-32 in the final 20 minutes.

Here is everything coach Oats had to say following win No. 10.

Crimson Tide Hoops falls to No. 9 in AP Poll

Tide hoops fall to No. 9 in AP poll after second loss of the season

The Alabama Crimson Tide suffered their second season loss of the season in Birmingham on Saturday to the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Tide, who were ranked No. 4 last week, now fall to No. 9 in this week’s AP poll and stand at 9-2 on the year.

The Tide defeated the Memphis Tigers earlier in the week, but couldn’t hold off a very good Gonzaga side to complete the week’s sweep. Alabama turned the ball over 21 times and certainly did themselves no favors all evening. However, Brandon Miller is a blooming superstar as he erupted for a career-high 36 points.

The Tide have one more out-of-conference game against Jackson State on Tuesday evening before starting SEC play at No. 15 Mississippi State three days after Christmas.
