LOOK: Auburn fans are upset over Nate Oats’ comment on Neville Arena

Ahead of Alabama’s game at Auburn, head coach Nate Oats ruffled some feathers with his comment on the Tigers’ Neville Arena.

Alabama men’s basketball head coach Nate Oats is not one to back down from confrontation, as Tide fans have grown to become fond of. His passion for the game sometimes leads to a technical foul and even a rare ejection.

Ahead of Alabama’s second contest of the regular season against Auburn, which will be a road game for the Crimson Tide, Oats attempted to compliment the Tigers’ home court, Neville Arena. However, it seemed to have backfired.

Oats, who got his start coaching high school basketball, said that Neville Arena reminded him of a high school environment where they pack a couple thousand people into a smaller gym, according to Tony Tsoukalas of Tide Illustrated. It was a commentary on the noise level and energy in the building.

Auburn fans did not take too kindly to Oats’ comment and responded with thoughts of their own.

WATCH: Alabama AD Greg Byrne addresses building new basketball arena

Greg Byrne addresses the desire of fans to get the Crimson Tide basketball programs a new home.

Alabama athletics have used Coleman Coliseum as the home for various sports and as an event space since 1968. With the success of the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team, fans have been asking for a new home.

Though renderings and potential future plans have been floated by official social media accounts and quotes from athletics administrators, not much solid information has become available to fans.

Recently, Alabama Athletics Director, Greg Byrne, joined The Next Round Live and talked about the plans for a new arena.

“I wanted our fans to know that we have not sat still. We continue to work on it,” said Byrne. “We work on it every single day. We have a fiduciary responsibility where I can’t jeopardize the rest of our department based off of one facility.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama basketball and the process of getting the team a brand new home to play in.

Alabama vs. Ole Miss: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Tue., Jan. 3

How to watch Nate Oats and Alabama take on Ole Miss in their SEC home opener.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team will be back on the hardwood Tuesday night to take on the Ole Miss Rebels for their second SEC game of the season.

Alabama is a double-digit favorite over the Rebels who have had an up-and-down season so far in Oxford.

Ole Miss dropped their SEC opener last week against Tennessee in heartbreak fashion with a 63-59 loss to the Vols.

Alabama began SEC play with an impressive win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road in Starkville.

Brandon Miller and Mark Sears will try and help lead the Tide to victory in their SEC home opener. Here is everything you need to know to catch all the action between the Tide and the Rebels.

Alabama announces record-breaking basketball season ticket sales

Huge news coming out of Alabama Athletics today!

In sports, there is an insatiable hunger for both fans and the program fielding the team. The fans pang for success in the form of wins, titles and recruiting domination, while the program trying to feed those fans what they want has a craving for even more fans to feed.

When that hunger is satiated in the form of success, more people will want to be a part of the “revolution” that they’re witnessing.

Alabama basketball has announced that Coleman Coliseum will hold more than 6,700 season-ticket holders, more than any other season in program history.

This news is huge for Crimson Tide sports lifers like myself. The energy inside the Coliseum should prove beneficial.

Alabama MBB F Javian Davis enters NCAA transfer portal

Alabama redshirt sophomore forward Javian Davis enters the NCAA transfer portal, potentially opening up two additional scholarship spots.

Alabama men’s basketball’s redshirt sophomore forward, Javian Davis, has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.

Davis appeared in 31 games in the 2019-2020 college basketball season, where he averaged six points per game, a field goal percentage of 59.4% and averaged almost four rebounds per game.

With the addition of recent top commit Alex Tchikou, Nate Oats doesn’t have any available scholarships to give out. However, if Davis does decide to transfer, and John Petty stays in the NBA Draft, there would be two potential scholarships to offer.

Davis is not the first player from the 2019 team to transfer before the start of the 2020 season. Former Alabama forward Galin Smith announce he will be transferring to Maryland to continue his basketball career, guard Jaylen Forbes transferred to Tulane, while center Raymond Hawkins will be playing at Long Beach State.

While it is sad to see players leave the Crimson Tide, it’s an amazing sight to see Nate Oats recruit elite talent to Tuscaloosa. Rivals.com has the 2020 Alabama basketball recruiting class listed as No. 9 in the nation.

LOOK: Coleman Coliseum gets updated court

Alabama basketball’s home court receives a bit of a makeover heading into the 2020-2021 college basketball season.

The Crimson Standard renovations have yet to hit the home of Alabama Basketball, Coleman Coliseum, but the Crimson Tide’s court did receive a bit of a makeover.

Less than a month ago, Wayne James, who works at Coleman, posted these three pictures of the court been stripped of it’s stain and paint, as well as the seats being covered in tarp.

The makeover referenced in the tweet was unveiled via Alabama Athletics’ Twitter earlier today.

The ‘Script A’ at half-court is now surrounded with a silhouette of the state of Alabama. The baselines that cover the court also appear to be a deeper crimson.

There’s no word yet on when the Crimson Standard renovations will begin on Coleman, but the finished product is expected to look like the renditions in the tweet below.

Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated as more renovations and updates become available!
