Ohio State wide receiver confirmed 100% healthy

Looks like he is good to go! #GoBucks

No one is questioning the talent that Ohio State has at the receiver position with Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, and freshman phenom, Jeremiah Smith likely to start, but the depth behind them is suspect. Every receiver on the three-deep was highly recruited, but there is simply not a ton of experience. Even though most fans feel comfortable with Smith and Tate, the reality is that there are only 18 collegiate receptions between the two and they all come from Tate.

This leads us to Brandon Innis. The former four-star receiver had only one reception last season, but it was for a 58-yard touchdown. The Florida product is expected to be a key contributor at receiver and it was devastating when he was diagnosed with a hairline fracture on his right foot during the early portion of spring practices, which resulted in him missing the remainder of spring.

Despite rumors of this injury lingering into the season, Innis has confirmed that he is 100% healthy and competing in summer workouts. This is a huge boost for a positional group that is big on potential, but lacking experience.

Ohio State named top wide receiver unit in college football by On3

No surprise really here. #GoBucks

It’s no secret that there’s no position group Ohio State has developed better in recent memory than wide receivers.  That’s not changing anytime soon as even after losing Marvin Harrison Jr. to the NFL, the Buckeyes are still projected to have a very talented group of playmakers at wide receiver in 2024.

On3 college football analyst, Jesse Simonton, ranked Ohio State as the top wide receiver unit in college football in 2024 in his article last week. Between Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, Brandon Inniss, and others, the Buckeyes have elite high-end talent as well as great depth at the position.

Not many true freshman around college football make an impact on their team but Jeremiah Smith is an exception. He has put his remarkable talent on display in spring practices and in March, became the first Buckeye to shed his black stripe after just four practices.

Emeka Egbuka has been one of the best wide receivers in college football over the last two season. He has is an elite route runner with good elusiveness after the catch. In 2024 he is expected to step into an even bigger role for the Buckeyes.

Also projected to step into a bigger role is Carnell Tate who made a good impact in his true freshman season. He made 11 appearances where he was fifth on the team in receiving with 264 yards.

Brandon Inniss is also expected to make an impact next season. He was a part of a talented group of receivers in the 2023 class and flashed his potential when he hauled in a 58-yard touchdown catch against Purdue.

The day after: Lasting thoughts on Ohio State football’s win over Purdue

What still sticks out in your head Buckeye fans? #GoBucks

It wasn’t the biggest win in [autotag]Ohio State footbal[/autotag]l history, but it’s win on the road against Purdue did carry some significance.

It somewhat exorcized some West Lafayette demons, kept the Buckeyes undefeated and was a great tune up ahead of their tilt at home against Penn State. Both major pregame shows will be in attendance, so you know it’s a big game.

We wait six days every week for Buckeye football to return on Saturday during the season, so there is always plenty of time to think about what transpired the previous game. Here are my day after thoughts following Ohio State football’s impressive road 41-7 win against Purdue.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day updates wide receiver Emeka Egbuka’s status

It could be worse #GoBucks

Unfortunately for [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag], it’s become all too common for a star player to get injured.

Last year it was Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and although [autotag]Marvin Harrison Jr.[/autotag] toughed it out against Maryland, he was hobbled the week prior with an ankle injury even if it didn’t look like he was.

[autotag]Emeka Egbuka[/autotag] was injured while playing against the Terrapins and on Tuesday Buckeye head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] updated his status. He told the media that Egbuka’s injury isn’t long term, but that is extremely vague. As Dave Biddle put it, if you take what Day said, it doesn’t seem like the junior will play this weekend.

There is a silver lining to potentially missing Egbuka this weekend against Purdue: Some of the younger receivers such as [autotag]Carnell Tate[/autotag], [autotag]Brandon Inniss[/autotag] and [autotag]Jayden Balland[/autotag] will get extended looks.

Ohio State freshman receiver Brandon Inniss has black stripe removed

Zone 6 just keeps getting better and better. #GoBucks

Black stripe alert! Brandon Inniss made waves last year when he decommited from Oklahoma and flipped to Ohio State. Other teams continued to pursue Inniss throughout the year, but he stayed committed to the Buckeyes. The four-star receiver was officially welcomed to the Brotherhood today after losing his black stripe.

Inniss comes to Columbus as a very highly touted receiving prospect. He was ranked as the No. 5 wideout in the 2023 recruiting cycle and the No. 35 ranked player overall.

On top of Oklahoma, Ohio State beat out the likes of Alabama, USC, and his home state schools of Florida State and Miami.

Inniss joins a loaded class of freshman receivers to lose their black stripes including Carnell Tate, Noah Rogers, and Bryson Rodgers.

Ohio State: The top-10 ranked recruits in their class of 2023

The Buckeyes should remain competitive for the foreseeable future, having recruited 10 of the top 150 players in the 2023 cycle going by the composite rankings.

Ohio State may have lost the commitment of the top overall 2024 recruit, quarterback Dylan Raiola. However, the future is still bright for this program that just missed out on playing in the national championship game last season by a matter of inches.

Even after they lose starting quarterback C.J. Stroud in the upcoming 2023 NFL draft, the Buckeyes should remain competitive for the foreseeable future, having recruited 10 of the top 150 players in the 2023 cycle going by the composite rankings. Here’s who they are and where they rank compared to the rest of their class.

Ohio State football class of 2023 scouting report: Brandon Inniss

Brandon Inniss has elite potential and compares to an intriguing former Ohio State star #GoBucks

The Ohio State football recruiting class of 2023 is complete and despite some murmurs of negativity in the crowd, this class is fantastic from top to bottom. One of the gems of the class is a five-star receiver from the state of Florida, Brandon Inniss.

Inniss is widely regarded as a top 35 recruit in the country and one of the top five receivers in the nation. It will be hard for a young receiver to crack the depth chart in the loaded Buckeye receiver room, so patience is key, but Inniss should develop into something special. Let’s dive into what he is capable of:

Name | Brandon Inniss

High School | American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, Florida)

Height | 5 feet, 11 inches

Weight | 198 pounds

Where each Ohio State signee landed on ESPN’s final 2023 recruiting rank update

What do you think about these rankings? #GoBucks

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that certainly is the case with [autotag]ESPN[/autotag] and the 2023 [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] football recruiting class.

There are certain attributes that prospect evaluators like over others, and that is why you often see significant disparities between the major recruiting services. One might like a prospect much more than the other but it still gives you a good idea of how much potential the player has.

Now that the high school season is over and the all-star games have been played, ESPN made the final update to its class of 2023 rankings. Find out below where each Buckeye signee was ranked in the top 300 and a quick takeaway of the rankings.

Thoughts on Ohio State’s signees after All-American Bowl

These seven were very impressive

The Buckeyes were very well represented at the [autotag]All-American Bowl[/autotag] on Saturday afternoon. [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] had the most players of any school in the country playing in the game, seven, and each of them got their opportunity to play.

Some shined a bit brighter due to being a focal point of the East and West’s offense. Keep in mind, this is an all-star game, the coaches try to get everyone playing time so it’s  bit scarce.

It was still a very impressive showing for Buckeyes who will be on campus soon. The future is very bright with these seven and here are some thoughts on each of their performances during the All-American Bowl.

Three Ohio State signees named Gatorade State Football Winners

Three incoming freshmen will now have a chance to be named the Gatorade National Player of the Year. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team had quite an excellent early signing period. Even though the Buckeyes missed out on a few key prospects, Ryan Day was still able to sign a consensus top-ten class. Among that class is a pretty strong contingency, at least according to the fine people at Gatorade.

Gatorade has been awarding the Gatorade State Player of the Year award since 1985. Gatorade states that the award was created to “recognize the nation’s most outstanding high school student-athletes for their athletic excellence, academic achievement, and exemplary charter.” Past winners have included the likes of Julian Fleming, Kyle McCord, Gabe Powers, and Joe Burrow among others.

This year, Ohio State had three players who signed in December win the state-level award and are now eligible to be recognized as the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year.

Let’s take a look at this year’s winners who have signed with the Buckeyes and give them a hand for such an outstanding achievement.
