Alabama No. 20 in SEC-loaded preseason top 25 by D1 Baseball

Alabama baseball lands inside the top 25 in D1 Baseball’s preseason poll.

The college baseball season is now less than a month away so preseason polls are beginning to drop by various syndications.

Earlier this week, D1 Baseball dropped its preseason top 25 rankings and to the surprise of no one, the SEC is well represented.

Even Brad Bohannon and the Alabama Crimson Tide cracked the top 25, coming in at No. 20.

Nine teams from the SEC are represented inside the top 25 including seven of the top ten teams.

LSU and Tennessee are considered the cream of the crop, not just in the SEC, but nationally so there isn’t much shock at who came in at No. 1 and No. 2.

In all, six of the College Wire sites are represented in this edition of the preseason top 25.

Stay tuned to Roll Tide Wire for all the latest on the Alabama baseball team.

To get things started this morning we will take a look at coach Brad Bohannon’s and the Alabama baseball team’s 2023 schedule.

Coach Bohannon is entering his sixth season as the head coach of the Crimson Tide and has shown strides of improvement throughout his tenure in Tuscaloosa.

The season will get underway in just a little over a month and below is the complete 2023 schedule for the Crimson Tide.

Here are a few other stories Tide fans should know about on this Monday morning.

Alabama pitcher Garrett McMillan selected in Round 19 by Twins

Alabama pitcher Garrett McMillan was selected in the 19th round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins.

Alabama pitcher Garrett McMillan saw several of his teammates’ names get called before hearing his own. On Tuesday, the Minnesota Twins chose McMillan with the No. 564 overall pick in Round 19 of the 2022 MLB draft.

After being signed as a two-way player out of Shelton State Community College, head coach Brad Bohannon called on McMillan to be the game-one starter for the Tide this past season. He had a 4-5 record in 86 innings pitched while holding a 4.29 ERA. He provided great leadership and effort for the Tide and almost helped them reach the post-season.

This season he will look to improve on the mound with hopes to upgrade his draft stock for next year. Throughout the summer, McMillan has been playing in the Valley Baseball League for the Strasburg Express. At the plate, he has hit .222 with one home run and 13 runs batted in. It will be interesting to see how Bohannon chooses to use McMillan next season.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama baseball and those who could potentially find their way into the major leagues.

Alabama baseball lands promising catcher from SEC rival via transfer portal

Alabama baseball lands Florida transfer catcher Mac Guscette!

The Alabama baseball team received some good news via the transfer portal on Saturday as Florida transfer catcher Mac Guscette announced that he was transferring to Alabama on Twitter.

He is the third player to transfer to the Tide this off-season along with Tenessee Tech transfer Ed Johnson and UAB transfer Aidan Moza.

Some Alabama fans may remember Guscette’s three-run home run against the Tide in the 2022 SEC Tournament to seal the win for the Gators.

Guscette spent two seasons in Gainesville. He played in 57 games for the Gators and held a .259 batting average with five home runs and 27 runs batted in.

Along with being fairly productive at the plate, he also had a .992 fielding percentage over two years in Gainesville. Alabama will likely return last season’s starting catcher Dominic Tamez. However, he will soon decide whether or not to enter the upcoming MLB draft. If both are on the Tide’s roster come fall, the two will likely rotate behind the plate.

It certainly creates intrigue for the program heading into the 2023 season. Head coach Brad Bohannon had the Tide on the fringe of a post-season appearance. Alabama will likelyhave a stronger season next year with the addition of several premier recruits and the numerous transfers.

Guscette is a nice addition to a program that appears to be trending in the right direction.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Alabama baseball as the offseason continues.

Alabama Baseball: Projected last four in

Alabama baseball makes late season push to make final 64

[autotag]Brad Bohannon[/autotag] and Alabama Baseball are making a late season push to make the 2022 field of 64 and continue their pursuit of a college world series appearance.

The Tide currently stand at 31-27 after making a nice run in the SEC tournament. The tide won three straight before dropping back to back games against Texas A&M and Florida. Florida plays Tennessee today for the conference title.

Despite having a conference record of 12-17, the SEC is a different animal in comparison to other conferences. The conference is slated to have ten teams make the tournament if Alabama and Ole Miss can sneak in. So a marginal conference record needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

As of right now, the prediction is that Alabama will be one of the last four teams to make the tournament according to d1baseball. Which would be a big step in the right direction in Bohannons third year with the program.

After being eliminated from the SEC tournament, all the Tide can do is wait until judgement day.

One of the nation’s top linebackers for the class of 2023 has trimmed his list of schools down to eight and [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Tide made the cut. Troy Bowles, a four-star prospect from Tampa dropped his top eight on Monday. Joining Alabama inside Bowles’ top eight are Ohio State, Florida, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Rutgers, and Auburn.

Let’s take a look at some of the other major storylines Alabama fans should be watching this Tuesday morning.

Alabama baseball blasts past No. 5 Arkansas in regular season finale

Alabama scorches Arkansas in regular-season finale 18-5.

The 2022 regular season for [autotag]Brad Bohannon[/autotag] and the Alabama baseball team was a bit of a roller coaster ride. When you look at their resume, you see some real quality wins and also see some head-scratching losses.

To end the regular season the Crimson Tide showed just what they were capable of with an 18-5 thrashing of No. 5 Arkansas. The Tide scored six runs in the second inning, six runs in the fourth, and then another five runs in the fifth inning.

[autotag]Bryce Eblin[/autotag] drove in a team-high five runs while [autotag]William Hamiter[/autotag] was not far behind, driving in another four.

The win on Saturday made for back-to-back wins over the Razorbacks and has the Tide on a roll before the start of the SEC Baseball Tournament on Tuesday when Alabama will take on Georgia.

With the win, Alabama finishes the regular season with an overall record of 29-25 with a 12-17 conference record.
