10 potential candidates to replace Brad Bohannon as Alabama’s next head baseball coach

Alabama fired head baseball coach Brad Bohannon on Thursday amid sports betting probe in Ohio. Roll Tide Wire takes a look at 10 candidates to replace Bohannon next season.

Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne decided to fire Alabama head baseball coach Brad Bohannon on Thursday. This news comes mere days after an alleged suspicious wager was placed on the Alabama-LSU game in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Tide currently have a 31-15 record while going 10-12 in the conference.

In the wake of Bohannon’s firing, the Tide defeated No. 5 Vanderbilt by a final score of 11-2. Interim head coach Jason Jackson picked up his first win just hours after Bohannon was fired.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at 10 potential candidates to replace former Alabama head baseball coach Brad Bohannon. Some of the options might be surprising, but don’t be too quick to dismiss these possible head coaches.

Alabama Baseball HC Brad Bohannon fired amid sports betting probe in Ohio

Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne announced the termination process for Alabama baseball head coach Brad Bohannon. This comes just days after sports bets in Ohio were halted following some suspension after the Alabama-LSU series over the weekend.

Alabama baseball head coach Brad Bohannon was fired on Thursday morning. Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne initiated a statement regarding the decision to terminate Bohannon. The statement reads the following:

“Alabama director of athletics Greg Byrne announced he has initiated the termination process for head baseball coach Brad Bohannon for, among other things, violating the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees. Bohannon has been relieved of all duties and Jason Jackson will serve as the interim head coach. There will be no further comment at this time pending an ongoing review.”

The news comes just days after ‘suspicious wagering activity’ took place in the state of Ohio. Following the Alabama-LSU baseball series over the weekend, suspicion arose from LSU’s Game 1 victory. The suspicion caused the state of Ohio and its sportsbook bettors to halt sports betting on the Alabama baseball program for the time being.

Bohannon began his seventh season at Alabama in 2023. As Alabama’s head coach, he attained a 166-124 record. With his departure, pitching coach Jason Jackson will serve as the interim head coach. Jackson has been a part of the coaching staff since 2017.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Alabama baseball program.

Recapping Alabama baseball’s sweep of the Missouri Tigers!

After a much-needed series win last weekend over arch-rival Auburn in Tuscaloosa, coach Brad Bohannon and the Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team got another SEC series win with a road sweep of the Missouri Tigers.

Thanks to winning consecutive conference series, Alabama now sits with a 9-9 record in SEC play before back-to-back series against the SEC’s top schools, the LSU Tigers and the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Before we shift our focus to the midweek matchup against Samford and then the Bayou Bengals in Baton Rouge, let’s take a quick look and recap this weekend’s series win in Columbia over the Missouri Tigers.

Alabama baseball drops first midweek game of season with 4-3 loss to UAB

Errors lead to Alabama’s first midweek loss of the season!

Alabama baseball’s midweek winning streak in the 2023 season has officially come to an end. After an error-filled out on Tuesday night, the Crimson Tide dropped an extra inning matchup to the UAB Blazer, 4-3.

Alabama took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run by Andrew Pinckney in the top of the second. The Tide would hold that lead until an error in the fifth allowed the Blazers to score two unearned runs to tie things up.

The Tide and Blazers would battle it out for 11 innings until a grounder to first was missed, allowing the winning run to score.

Alabama drops to 26-12 on the season and has a crucial SEC series on the road at Missouri this weekend.

Alabama baseball evens series with Auburn with 4-2 win on Saturday

Alabama baseball gets a huge win on Saturday to even the series with Auburn!

Thanks to a strong five-inning showing from senior pitcher Garrett McMillian, the Alabama baseball team was able to even the three-game series against Auburn, 4-2 on Saturday.

Despite being on a pitch count, McMillian tossed 5.0-plus scoreless innings surrendering just one hit while striking out four batters.

Offensively, Alabama was only able to muster five hits on the night but thanks to eight walks and three hit-by-pitch, the Tide was able to outscore the Tigers.

Alabama and Auburn will play for the series on Sunday. Alabama will send right-hander Jacob McNairy to the hill with Auburn calling on Christian Herberholz, also a righty. Fans can catch the series finale live on SEC Network+.

Alabama baseball drops series opener against Auburn in embarrassing fashion

Not the way Alabama needed the series to start!

In a pivotal home series against arch-rival Auburn, Brad Bohannon and the Alabama baseball dropped the series opener 8-4.

The Tigers held an 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth until the Alabama bats finally decided to wake up, but the comeback attempt was too little, too late.

With the loss, Alabama falls to 24-11 on the season and an abysmal 4-9 in SEC play.

If the Crimson Tide has hopes of winning its first series in conference play this season, Alabama will have to play much better on Saturday and Sunday.

This is do-or-die time for the boys on the diamond!
