REPORT: Five-star Boogie Fland has Alabama basketball among his potential visits

Alabama basketball could potentially host five-star guard Boogie Fland on a visit this summer!

Nate Oats has turned the Alabama men’s basketball program into not only an SEC power but a national contender as well.

Part of Oats’ success is greatly due to his elite ability to haul in some of the nation’s top talent and then develop that talent into NBA draft picks.

It doesn’t appear that coach Oats will be falling off on the recruiting trail any time soon either. According to a report from Travis Branham of 247Sports, Oats and the Tide are a strong contender for class of 2024 five-star guard Boogie Fland.

Fland has intentions of visiting some schools in June telling 247Sports; “I am trying to schedule a couple of visits in June and get them over with. I want to see what the schools are like and get a feel for it.”

According to the report, Fland has hopes of visiting Tuscaloosa among other schools such as UCONN, Kentucky, Indiana, and Oregon.

Michigan basketball has five-star 2024 prospect on campus

Nice to get him on campus! #GoBlue

Michigan basketball lost Hunter Dickinson, officially, on Thursday after he announced he would attend Kansas for the upcoming basketball season. There was doubt the 7-footer would return to the Wolverines after entering the transfer portal, but Michigan fans were holding out hope Dickinson would change his mind after Juwan Howard brought in a solid transfer class to Ann Arbor.

While there was somber news on the Michigan front on Thursday, there was also positive news in terms of the 2024 recruiting class.

According to 247Sports’ Dushawn London, five-star combo guard Boogie Fland was on campus to take a visit with the Michigan basketball squad.

The 6-foot-3 guard hails from White Plains (New York) Archbishop Stepinac and is the sixth-ranked prospect in the class of 2024 according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the No. 2 combo guard and the second-ranked prospect in the state.

Michigan currently has one prospect committed to it for the 2024 class: four-star guard Christian Anderson.

With the losses of Kobe Bufkin, Jett Howard, and Hunter Dickinson, the Wolverines need to replenish the cupboard for future success. Landing a prospect of Fland’s caliber would go a long way.

UNC basketball program still recruiting five-star 2024 prospect

The UNC basketball program is still in pursuit of a five-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are in the middle of a very busy time between the transfer portal and recruiting for future recruiting classes. And the two often are tied together.

With two scholarships open for the upcoming season, UNC could see one or two members from the talented 2024 class move into 2023. If that happened, it would open spots in 2024 for another recruit and UNC still has its eyes on a top prospect.

Five-star combo guard Boogie Fland has yet to make a decision and has programs, including blue bloods Kentucky and UNC, still after him. While Fland is in the process of scheduling an official visit to the Wildcats, he told Kentucky Sports Radio that he’s still hearing from North Carolina:

Outside of Kentucky, he’s not sure who else he wants to see. North Carolina is still recruiting him, despite taking commitments from Ian Jackson and Elliot Cadeau.

“Yeah, I hear from them still,” he said. “They’re still telling me that they want me, and stuff like that. … I have a strong relationship with Ian Jackson. Me and Elliot are cool, but I haven’t talked to him like that.”

That’s certainly good news to hear that he has a relationship with Ian Jackson and does talk to Elliot Cadeau as well.

For now, we have to wait and see what either Jackson or Cadeau do in terms of a reclassification, which would open up a spot in 2024. And it appears to be a waiting game with dominos ready to fall.

UNC commit Ian Jackson recruiting fellow five-star to Chapel Hill

UNC basketball commit Ian Jackson is recruiting one fellow 2024 five-star guard to Chapel Hill.

The 2024 recruiting class for the UNC basketball program is already the top class in the country. And, it could be getting better, thanks to the recruiting efforts of one five-star commit.

Current UNC commit [autotag]Ian Jackson[/autotag] has been in the news for the past few weeks … thanks to the rumors involving Rick Pitino and a potential flip from North Carolina to St. John’s. After Jackson reaffirmed his commitment to UNC for a third time, he also had other things to say.

Jackson made it known he is targeting one player to join him and the rest of the Tar Heels’ class in Chapel Hill: five-star point guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag]. Fland took an official visit to North Carolina, his only official visit to this point.

After the commitment of five-star guard Elliot Cadeau, the recruiting process seemed a bit shaky between UNC and Fland, despite the Tar Heels being given the ‘leader’ designation in the recruitment process.

Now, UNC seems to be back on the board after the news of Cadeau’s potential reclassification.

“I’m trying, I’m trying, I’m talking to him,” Jackson told ZagsBlog.com of Fland. “Come win a national championship. We both (are) from New York, we get a chance to play each other in high school (in the New York Catholic League), so let’s try to do it in college … I’m swaying him a little bit,”

The two players are both from New York and played together on the U17 Team USA FIBA World Cup team last summer.

Kentucky, St. John’s and Michigan are some of the new programs pushing for Fland at the moment.

North Carolina has a four-man class in 2024 of Jackson, Cadeau and four-star prospects James Brown and Drake Powell.

Alabama MBB extends offer to 2024 CG Boogie Fland

The Alabama men’s basketball team has seen a lot of success lately. Great success can bring about elite recruiting. The Tide recently offered 2024 5-star combo guard Boogie Fland.

Alabama’s coaching staff recently extended an offer to 2024 5-star combo guard Boogie Fland. 247Sports’ Travis Branham was the first to report the offer given to Fland.

The Tide have emphasized establishing their success on the court through recruiting prospects that fit their style of play. At 6-foot-3, Fland can play both guard positions and present some challenges on both ends of the floor. Alabama head coach Nate Oats likes to have bigger, quicker guards. Fland fits the profile for sure.

At this time, North Carolina is the favorite to land Fland at 60.3% likelihood, according to On3’s RPM. However, Alabama hopes to be able to make a push to land the New York native.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Boogie Fland’s recruiting profile.

UNC an ‘important visit’ for one key 2024 five-star target

The UNC basketball program is hosting an ‘important visit’ for one five-star prospect, a key target in the 2024 class.

After rescheduling an official visit due to the impact of Hurricane Ian a few weeks ago, 2024 five-star guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag] is set for an important visit with the UNC basketball program.

It was announced earlier this week that Fland would be headed to to Chapel Hill on October 28 for his rescheduled visit. It was originally set for the weekend of September 30.

Fland is the No. 12 overall player in the 2024 class and the No. 2 combo guard per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

According to Rivals National Recruiting Director Rob Cassidy, this upcoming visit for Bland is a very important one in his recruitment.

“Johnuel “Boogie” Flandhas scheduled his first official visit, a trip to North Carolina that is set to take place on Oct. 28. And while Fland is miles away from a decision about his college future, the New York-based star’s trip to Chapel Hill feels important because the Tar Heels have long been appealing to Fland and his family.”

Fland is from Archbishop Stepinac (NY) High School, the same high school that current guard RJ Davis attended in high school.

Though Fland is not close to making a decision at this time, the Tar Heels have picked up a lot of steam in his recruitment ever since extending an offer this summer.

Boogie Fland announces visit date to UNC

Five-star guard Boogie Fland has re-scheduled his official visit to the UNC basketball program for late October.

The next several weeks will be busy for Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program

The program is set to host multiple recruits for visits on campus as they hope to add to recruiting classes. Already we have seen a few recruits on campus and the schedule continues to get busy.

Five-star guard [autotag]Boogie Fland [/autotag]has officially rescheduled his visit to UNC after postponing it due to weather. The White Plains, New York native will now be on campus on October 28th for his official visit to the program per Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com.

Fland was set to be on campus in late September.

Top 2024 prospect rescheduling his UNC official visit

The top 2024 prospect is rescheduling his official visit to the UNC basketball program until later this year.

One key prospect for the UNC basketball program has rescheduled his official visit for later this season.

No. 1 overall prospect [autotag]Ian Jackson[/autotag] was originally scheduled to be on campus for an official visit the weekend of October 28. But, according to Rivals analyst David Sisk, that visit is being rescheduled.

Now, Jackson will look to take a visit sometime in January. He has another scheduled to LSU on November 4.

Instead, fellow five-star guard Boogie Fland, who had to reschedule his official visit from September 30, will be visiting the weekend of October 28.

There is an intriguing storyline with Jackson, as he’s been open about the potential to reclassifying to 2023. While nothing is set in stone, it is something that is on the table.

Jackson plays for Cardinal Hayes (NY) and New York Wiz Kids on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.

Currently, UNC has one commitment in the class of 2024 with four-star wing Drake Powell.

Key five-star 2024 prospect in no rush to make decision

This top UNC basketball recruiting target is in no rush to make a decision in terms of a commitment. But when should we expect one?

The UNC football program is in pursuit of five-star combo guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag] and the recruit will be on campus later this month for an official visit.

With UNC offering back in August, they became a serious contender to land the Archbishop Stepinac product. Fland has a total of 20 offers so far in his recruitment and is considered a top 10 prospect per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

But with his upcoming visit to UNC, it’s the start of what is expected to be a very busy Fall and Winter for the guard. And he’s in no rush to make a decision anytime soon.

In an interview with Adam Zagoria of Zag’s Blog, Fland told the reporter that he is in no rush to make a decision and is targeting sometime next year for a commitment:

Now he’s back at Stepinac hosting coaches and planning visits.
Still, he’s in no rush to make any commitment.

“Yeah, next year most likely,” he said.

It’s no surprise that there is a long way to go in this recruitment and Fland certainly wants to see more schools before he does make a decision. Still, UNC can make a big impact early on with the upcoming visit.

UNC basketball to welcome five-star recruit for Live Action visit

The UNC basketball program will host five-star recruit Boogie Fland for an official visit at the end of September.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program will unofficially begin the 2022-23 season with the annual Live Action With Carolina Basketball event, formally known as Late Night at the end of September.

And when the Tar Heels do hit the court for the season tipoff for the event, they will do so in front of a very important recruiting target.

Five-star combo guard [autotag]Boogie Fland[/autotag] will be in attendance for the event, taking his official visit to UNC per Inside Carolina. The 2024 recruit is one of the top players in the class and has drawn significant interest from North Carolina in his recruitment recently.

Davis and Jeff Lebo were at Stepinac on Thursday for the coaches clinic and had the chance to watch Bland and his teammates. The Tar Heels offered the prized recruit back in August and have made him a priority moving forward in this class.

With just one commitment in the 2024 class, UNC is hoping to build a stellar class. In addition to Fland, 2023 recruit Zayden High will also be in attendance for the event as it will be a big recruiting opportunity for the program.
