WATCH: Bo Nix magically escapes a sack and rushes for a touchdown

Auburn quarterback Bo Nix pulled a Cam Newton on this touchdown, escaping a certain sack and then rushing for the score.

This was one special play by Bo Nix.

The Auburn quarterback was seemingly going to be sacked by half of the Texas A&M defense but somehow escaped, found his footing and then rushed for a touchdown to put Auburn up 10-7.

Alabama throws shade at Bo Nix over Mac Jones’ game manager comments

Auburn quarterback Bo Nix created quite the uproar last week when he referred to Alabama quarterback Mac Jones as a game manager ahead

Auburn quarterback Bo Nix created quite the uproar last week when he referred to Alabama quarterback Mac Jones as a game manager ahead of the Iron Bowl.

Nix’s comments were likely not meant to disrespect Jones and the incredible season he is having, but Alabama players didn’t appreciate them nonetheless.

In No. 1 Alabama’s dominating 42-13 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday, Jones was flawless, completing 18 of 26 passes for 302 yards and five touchdowns.

His play was a major reason why the Crimson Tide handled the Tigers with such ease.

Meanwhile, Nix completed 23 of 38 passes for 227 yards and two interceptions.

Jones left no doubt who the better quarterback was in the Iron Bowl.

On Monday, Alabama football’s official Twitter account joined in on the fun and sent some shade Nix’s way.

Game, set, match.

It was a fun response by the Crimson Tide that will likely put that silly notion to rest.

Twitter reacts to Auburn getting embarrassed in Iron Bowl

Auburn got embarrassed by Alabama in the 2020 Iron Bowl and Twitter was not happy.

Behold, Twitter reacts to Auburn’s most pathetic showing all year against Alabama. If you are an Auburn fan who stuck it out by watching the whole game then kudos to you. This one got real ugly real fast when Auburn failed to do anything but kick field goals in the first half.

In summary, blown coverage + a mediocre offensive line = a 42-13 loss to Alabama.

I mean seriously, that was horrifying. The Tigers are going to need to make adjustments if they don’t want to lose by 30+ to Texas A&M next weekend.

WATCH: Najee Harris turns on the jets for 39-yard TD

Najee Harris scores a nation-leading 17th rushing touchdown to build on Alabama’s lead over Auburn to make the score 35-6 with time left …

Alabama continues to roll over Auburn in the 2020 Iron Bowl as Najee Harris scores on a 39-yard run to extend the Crimson Tide’s lead over the Tigers, 35-6.

The Auburn defense has not been able to stop, let alone slow down, the Alabama offense.

Whether it’s the heat of the rivalry driving the team forward, or having offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian at the helm today with Nick Saban out, either way, this team is proving they deserve to be No. 1 in the nation.

Harris had a beautiful cut to get through Auburn’s defensive front, then there was nothing but open field between him and the end zone. This is touchdown No. 17 for Harris, who leads the nation.

With plenty of time remaining in the third quarter, who know what may happen before the end of the game.

You can watch Harris’ run below:

WATCH: Mac Jones can’t stop throwing touchdowns

Alabama extends their lead, 28-6, over Auburn in the 2020 edition of the Iron Bowl. Mac Jones and DeVonta Smith are having great games.

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones is having a pretty good game in his second Iron Bowl appearance, making up for last year’s loss where he threw two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.

Today, Jones has not thrown a single interception against Auburn, but has thrown for four touchdowns. DeVonta Smith has caught half of them.

The most recent Jones-to-Smith touchdown came on a 58-yard catch and run.

Smith’s speed and elusiveness were put on full display. After making the catch on the run, Smith weaved through traffic and turned on the jets to showcase his breakaway speed.

That touchdown extends Alabama’s lead, 28-6.

Steve Sarkisian is leading the team today with Nick Saban out with COVID, and he’s not dissappointing.

Iron Bowl Halftime: Alabama rolls over Auburn at the half

Alabama has an 18 point lead over the Auburn Tigers at the half. A handful of touchdowns by Mac Jones, and some stellar defense…

The Alabama Crimson Tide seem to have full control over Bo Nix and the Auburn Tigers, despite Nick Saban not being present.

Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian has Alabama in a good position to finish out strong, as the contest’s first half comes to a close with a score of 21-3.

Mac Jones is having an amazing day, completing nine of 13 passing attempts for 174 yards and three touchdowns. All three passes to result in scores for Alabama were thrown to different receivers: DeVonta Smith, Malachi Moore and Jahleel Billingsley.

Najee Harris has been contained, only rushing five times for 25 yards, but has also seen a one reception for an additional 25 yards.

Pete Golding and the Crimson Tide defense have held Bo Nix to a very ineffective first half in the air, only allowing 12 completions for 96 yards and an interception to close out the half.

On the ground, Auburn has not had much luck, 20 total carries for 57 yards.

There’s still an entire half remaining in the game for Auburn to stage a comeback; however, the same argument could be made for Alabama to extend the lead, essentially ending the game far before the four quarters conclude.

The biggest star of the first half is true-freshman defensive back Malachi Moore, who has an interception and a handful of big-time plays to help Alabama on the defensive side of the ball.

WATCH: Mac Jones eludes pressure, throws perfectly placed pass for TD

Alabama keeps putting points on the board as the lead extends over Auburn in the 2020 Iron Bowl.

Mac Jones and the Crimson Tide are rolling in the first half of the 2020 Iron Bowl with a score of 21-3 with time remianing in the second quarter.

A 24-yard completion by Jones to Jahleel Billingsley helps extend the lead. The pass was dropped perfectly into Billingley’s hands, despite an Auburn defender right behind him and a collapsing pocket.

This was Billingsley’s first touchdown of his Alabama career.

The Alabama defense is doing a good job of maintaining a steady pace of play, offering the offense time to rest, while holding the Auburn offense to only three points.

With plenty of time remianing, there’s no telling what Steve Sarkisian and the Alabama offense might try.

You can watch the touchdown pass below:

WATCH: Mac Jones fakes out Auburn defense, throws 66-yard TD

Mac Jones completes a 66-yard pass to DeVonta Smith for the first touchdown of the 2020 Iron Bowl against the Auburn Tigers.

Mac Jones and the Alabama Crimson Tide strike first in the 2020 Iron Bowl against in-state rival Auburn.

Both teams’ first posessions ended as three-and-outs, but Alabama did not let their second time with the ball go to waste.

Jones with a hard pump fake had the Auburn defense move up, thinking the ball was, or would be, thrown. Instead, DeVonta Smith continued running straight, uncovered and scored a 66-yard, uncontested touchdown to put the Crimson Tide up by seven.

Plenty of time left in the game, but the Alabama defense looks promising, and a team now led by offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, due to Nick Saban being home with COVID, this game could get interesting.

Why Alabama still has edge over Auburn in 2020 Iron Bowl

Alabama’s potent offense and the Tigers’ inability to get off the field on third down are two reasons the Crimson Tide are favored.

It has certainly not been a smooth ride, but we made it to the Iron Bowl.

Auburn and Alabama are just a day away from their annual matchup, and while Nick Saban will be unable to coach the game after testing positive for COVID-19, all signs point to the game being good to go, something that is not a given in 2020.

While the loss of Saban could help Auburn, the No. 1 Crimson Tide are still massive favorites thanks to ranking sixth in total offense with 548.6 yards per game and third in scoring offense by putting up 49.4 points per game and have the advantage of the game being played in Tuscaloosa.

Here’s why Crimson Tide should be expected to come out on top Saturday afternoon.

Did Bo Nix throw shade at Mac Jones?

Bo Nix has things to say about Mac Jones. Were they compliments or was Nix throwing a little shade?

The Iron Bowl is one of college football’s biggest rivalry games. There is always trash talking going on between the Alabama and Auburn fan bases, but we really do not see it from players too often.

That is why a comment made by Auburn quarterback Bo Nix on Tuesday was interesting. The sophomore was asked about Alabama’s starting quarterback Mac Jones, and here was his answer:

It is hard to gauge tone through a tweet, and it might have been completely harmless. But some might take it as Nix saying two things: 1) Jones is a game-manager and 2) he is a product of his surrounding talent.

Admittedly, that could be a major reach, but it is hard to know based off that one quote. Nothing Nix said is inaccurate, though.

Jones is incredible at managing games (and dominating them, to be honest) and he has one of the best supporting casts in the entire country. That doesn’t, however, mean that he still isn’t one of the best quarterbacks in college football right now.

We’ll see if this quote comes up later.

Alabama welcomes Auburn to Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday for the 2020 edition of the Iron Bowl. The Crimson Tide are major favorites, but will be without head coach Nick Saban due to COVID-19.
