Four-star defensive back prospect Blake Woodby set to visit Auburn

The 5-foot-10 All-American is a consensus top 100 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class.

Highly touted 4-star defensive back [autotag]Blake Woodby[/autotag] is reportedly set to take an official visit to Auburn at the end of May. The Baltimore, Maryland native, who recently re-opened his commitment after verbally committing to Ohio State, will be in the Plains from May 31-June 2.

The 5-foot-10 All-American is a consensus top 100 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, while ESPN, On3, and 247 all have the four-star ranked as a top 3 prospect in Maryland. Outside of Auburn, Woodby has shown major interest in SEC rival Georgia, Music City Bowl nemesis Maryland, and Oregon.

Woodby described his recent visit to Athens as “great” and will take official visits to Maryland and Oregon along with Auburn in the coming weeks. We’ll see if the 2025 recruit is ready to announce his commitment after his visits this summer.

4-star cornerback recruit Blake Woodby decommits from Ohio State

UGA football could be in consideration for Ohio State’s latest decommitment

Four-star cornerback recruit Blake Woodby has decommitted from Ohio State. Woodby, a member of the class of 2025, received a scholarship offer from the University of Georgia in 2022.

Woodby plays football for St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. St. Frances is one of the best high school football programs in the nation. Former Georgia linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson played at St. Frances.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back has excellent speed and runs track for his high school. Woodby is the No. 66 recruit in the country and the No. 7 cornerback. Woodby is the second-ranked player in Maryland, per 247Sports.

Georgia could be in the mix for Woodby along with Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson and Oregon. The four-star received several scholarship offers after decommitting from Ohio State.

Ohio State should be alright without Woodby. The Buckeyes have commitments from the nation’s two top ranked defensive back recruits in Devin Sanchez and Na’eem Offord.

Ohio State football loses 2025 cornerback commitment

Good luck young man

If you follow recruiting closely, you had to assume that it was going to be tough for Ohio State football to keep [autotag]Blake Woodby[/autotag].

With commitments from 5-stars in Na’eem Offord and Devin Sanchez, he was already playing second fiddle to his future teammates. The three of them lining up in the same secondary won’t happen, as Woodby decommitted on Thursday afternoon.

It’s not as if this isn’t a loss for the Buckeyes, as he is considered as one of the top players in the nation, ranking as the No. 66 overall prospect and 7th cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Woodby’s quote of a social media post may anger some of Buckeye Nation, as the literal worst place he could end up at would be Michigan. They’ll be in a battle with multiple other schools as he received four new offers since the news broke.

Ohio State in the long run should be fine with recruiting cornerbacks going forward, even without Woodby.

Oregon in the mix to land Ohio State decommit CB Blake Woodby

The Ducks could be a team to watch for CB Blake Woodby, who decommitted from Ohio State.

The Oregon Ducks have made some key transfer additions since the portal opened in April, but we’re also in the middle of high school recruiting season, giving Dan Lanning and the Ducks opportunities to improve their future.

Blake Woodby, a four-star cornerback in the class of 2025, decommitted from Ohio State on Thursday, and Oregon is immediately in the mix to land the premier prospect. While he was committed to the Buckeyes, Woodby attended the Ducks spring game last month.

247Sports ranks Woodby as the No. 9 CB in his class and a top 100 player overall, while On3 has him as the No. 7 CB and No. 65 overall. Woodby measures in at 5 feet 9 inches and 175 pounds, but he makes up for his small size with speed. As a junior, Woodby ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at a high school skills day, an elite time for a CB at any level of football, but especially elite for a junior in high school.

Before committing to Ohio State in the fall of 2023, Woodby attended summer camps at Oregon and Alabama, and he took an unofficial visit with the Tennessee Volunteers according to 247Sports. After decommitting, there’s no way to know where Woodby will end up, but look for those schools as potential landing spots.

Oregon is set up well at the cornerback position in 2024, with Washington transfer Jabbar Muhammad, a senior, set to lead the position group. It’s not clear who will be the Ducks’ second starting corner, but they have plenty of experienced talent at the position. If Woodby chooses Oregon, he will not be in a situation where he plays right away, but he’d be able to develop his game and, hopefully, see the field after a season or two.

Ohio State offers 2025 defensive back out of Baltimore

Ohio State football is hitting the recruiting trail and offered another young defensive back #GoBucks

Despite the Ohio State football team prepping for one of the biggest games in their history against Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in the College Football Playoff, they continue to work the recruiting trail. Another offer was made, but this time in the class of 2025. On Monday, Blake Woodby, a cornerback in the class of 2025 from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, received a scholarship offer.

Woodby does not yet have a star rating from most recruiting services but is viewed as a likely five-star prospect and already has offers from other heavy hitters like Georgia and Georgia Tech. Ohio State safeties coach, Perry Eliano, has been communicating with Woodby after his fantastic sophomore year and he finally received an offer from the Buckeyes.

Ohio State is widely regarded as DBU, but that reputation has taken a hit since 2019 and this staff is working as hard as possible to regain that reputation. The Ohio State program is hoping to pick up a few stars from St. Frances Academy as they offered Woodby, and Edrees Farooq, a three-star in the class of 2024, Kevyn Humes from the 2025 class, and Ify Obidegwu, who is a three-star in the 2024 class.
