Bevo is Back! Texas mascot will return to sideline for CFP Semifinal in Cotton Bowl

Bevo is Back! After being barred from the SEC Championship Game and Peach Bowl, Texas’ mascot will be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington

After being banned from the sidelines for the SEC Championship Game and the CFP Quarterfinal at the Peach Bowl, both held at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Bevo will be back for the CFP Semifinal in the Cotton Bowl. It seems AT&T Stadium in Arlington is more accommodating than Mercedes-Benz.

In a statement when Bevo was barred from the SEC title game, the SEC said in a statement, “The reality is there is limited sideline space at the stadium. We can’t jeopardize the safety of Bevo or the game participants. With the narrow sidelines, location of multiple sets for television and camera carts, there is not enough space. While we want to honor tradition across the conference, the space limitation is a reality.”

The Peach Bowl VP of communications Matt Garvey made a very similar statement when it was announced Bevo couldn’t go to Atlanta, “For the safety of Bevo and the players and the media and the camera crews that are on site there, it doesn’t look like we’re going to be able to accommodate him.”

Of course, before the SEC championship, there was a thought the conference was fearful of another Bevo-Uga incident. Bevo famously changed Georgia’s bulldog mascot at the 2019 Sugar Bowl during a summit between the two icons.

The Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium is familiar with Bevo. He was last year’s Big 12 Championship win over Oklahoma State.

If Texas beats Ohio State to advance to the CFP National Championship Game, don’t bet on Bevo being there. The game is at … you guessed it … the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Will Bevo be allowed at AT&T Stadium for the Cotton Bowl?

The Texas Longhorns mascot has been barred from two of the last three playoff games.

The Texas Longhorns defeated the Arizona State Sun Devil’s on Wednesday in Double-OT. They’ll go onto the College Football Playoff semifinals in Arlington, TX at AT&T Stadium.

If Jerry Jones loves anything more than his beloved Dallas Cowboys, it’s certainly having bigger and better things. AT&T Stadium, affectionately known as Jerry World, is no exception. Texas is known for its grandeur, and this stadium is no different. It’s massive, as everything in Texas tends to be.

The home of the Dallas Cowboys and the UIL State Championship has hosted the Longhorns three times in the past decade, including two Big 12 Championships and the UCLA game back in 2014. Surprisingly, Bevo, the beloved mascot of the Longhorns, was allowed to attend both games.

However, the spokesperson for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic has clarified that the Cowboys have no influence on the game operations of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. Regarding Bevo’s attendance, the spokesperson stated that they currently lack an answer and that it will be evaluated and determined once all logistics surrounding the game are finalized.

If history is any indicator of the future, it means that Bevo will for sure be in attendance at the College Football Playoff semifinal next Friday.

Bevo unwelcome at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Peach Bowl

Will Bevo be able to support Texas at the Peach Bowl?

It is beginning to feel like college football’s hierarchy has it in for Bevo.

On Monday, it was announced the legendary Texas Longhorns mascot will not be allowed to attend the Peach Bowl between Arizona State and the Longhorns.

Wonder if it is because they want people to think about eating more chickin?

Texas students, fans start petition to SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey over Bevo ban

Longhorn fans aren’t thrilled that the face of the University won’t be in attendance at their SEC Championship.

The decision to prohibit Bevo, the University of Texas’s live longhorn steer mascot, from attending the SEC Championship Game due to sideline space constraints has sparked significant reactions among students and fans. In contrast, Uga XI, the University of Georgia’s bulldog mascot, will be present at the game.

This disparity has led to widespread discussions on social media platforms, with many expressing their dissatisfaction and advocating for Bevo’s inclusion. A Change.org petition demanding Bevo’s attendance garnered over 3,000 signatures within the first five hours of its launch. The petition itself is directed to Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey.

“We believe this to be an unbalanced decision by the SEC, favoring Georgia by permitting their mascot while barring ours. Bevo is a symbol of our school spirit and unity, a rallying point for our team that cannot be sidelined or silenced. We wish to underscore the fact that this imbalance tarnishes the sporting spirit of the SEC Championship.”

In the event that the Longhorns advance from the SEC Championship and College Football Playoff victorious, the National Championship game will also be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Bevo, will be barred from that event, too. The Texas Longhorns will take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship on Saturday from Atlanta, the game will be broadcasted on ABC for those who will be unable to attend, like Bevo.

Former photographer is suing Texas Longhorns mascot Bevo, well sort of

The owners and handlers of the Texas Longhorns mascot Bevo are being sued by former Austin-American Statesman photographer.

The year of 2020 has been a wild one. From basketball tournaments being cancelled, baseball and softball as well. Not to mention it has been the most odd football season as well. From week to week no one is certain which football games will be played, cancelled or even postponed to a later day. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that we have another wild story. This one involved a former photographer suing Bevo. Well at least suing for an event that transpired during the 2018 All State Sugar Bowl.

During the meeting of the mascots, Bevo cleared everyone out of the area. The photographer Nick Wagner was one of those who had to move quickly. He is now asking for damages of between $200,000 and $1 million.

According to the report from Brian Davis of the Austin-American Statesman, the owners and handlers of Bevo are being sued according to the lawsuit filed in Travis County.

A former Austin American-Statesman photographer has filed a lawsuit against the owners and handlers of Bevo XV for negligence that caused “permanent injury” when the longhorn steer surged from his holding pen at the 2019 Sugar Bowl.

According to a petition filed in Travis Country district court in Texas on Friday, Nick Wagner was acting in his role as a Statesman photographer on Jan. 1, 2019. He was taking pictures of Uga X, Georgia’s bulldog mascot, prior to the Texas-Georgia game at the New Orleans Superdome.

On Bevo’s Birthday Relive The Sugar Bowl Moment

For the birthday of the big guy, relive Bevo’s meeting with the Georgia Bulldog in 2018-19 Sugar Bowl.

Today the Texas Longhorns celebrate the birthday of Bevo, Texas most beloved mascot. His lineage dates all the way back 1916, the current mascot if the 15th Bevo in school history. Originally named Bo before the Thanksgiving game in 1916.

On the birthday of the big guy, we remember a moment from the Sugar Bowl in 2019. During the pregame festivities, Bevo got a chance to meet the Georgia Bulldog mascot and it would be fair to say the big guy wasn’t a fan.

So here’s to the birthday of Bevo and hope that many more of them are on the horizon.

One year ago today: Texas’ Bevo comes at Uga

One year ago today, at the 2019 Sugar Bowl, Texas’ mascot took a run at Georgia’s Uga. The longhorn steer plowed through barriers toward Uga

One year ago today, at the 2019 Sugar Bowl, Texas’ mascot, Bevo, took a run at Georgia’s Uga. The longhorn steer plowed through barriers to try to crush Uga.

Was it a case of mascot jealousy that provoked Bevo? We’ll never know, but this was arguably the most memorial moment of the year for UGA football:

This moment will be forever remembered. Both Georgia fans and Texas fans have seen some interesting mascot moments over the years, but this may be the worst mascot on mascot crime in Bevo’s history.

Uga’s most famous moment occurred when he nearly bit Auburn’s Robert Baker in 1996. In this year’s match-up versus Baylor, Uga won’t have to worry about Baylor’s Bear mascots as they’ll stay on campus.

Uga won’t fear Bruiser the Bear one bit:
