The Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings have released their inactives lists for today’s matchup in Minneapolis. Both teams will be missing some key players on either side of the ball.

Here is the list for Seattle.

WR Dee Eskridge
RB Rashaad Penny
OT Brandon Shell
DE Benson Mayowa
QB Jake Luton
DL L.J. Collier
S Marquise Blair

The Seahawks elevated Robert Nkemdiche from the practice squad yesterday, so he should help make up the absence of both Mayowa (injury) and Collier, who is a healthy scratch for the second time in three games.

And here’s the list for Minnesota.

RB Dalvin Cook
LB Anthony Barr
OT Christian Darrisaw
CB Harrison Hand
DT James Lynch
DE Patrick Jones
QB Kellen Mond

Cook is perhaps the most critical piece for this offense, so missing him is a big blow. Barr being out is also a significant loss for the Vikings’ defense.

Russell Wilson reacts to Seahawks bringing back Carlos Dunlap

Russell Wilson has taken to enthusiastically tweeting about notable players joining the Seattle Seahawks. This time it’s Carlos Dunlap.

Russell Wilson has recently taken to reacting enthusiastically on Twitter to the Seahawks signing notable players.

After tweeting a zealous response to the organization re-signing Benson Mayowa and picking up Kerry Hyder a few days ago, he more or less did the same when reports of defensive end Carlos Dunlap re-signing came out.

The Wilson trade speculation has settled down considerably and all signs seem to indicate that he will remain a Seahawk next season, which means, well, everything to this team’s chances to contend. However, the NFC West is looking to be stacked again for the 2021 season, so Seattle will need all the help it can get even with Wilson in the fold.

Seahawks to sign former 49ers defensive end Kerry Hyder

The Seahawks bolstered their pass rush on Tuesday, signing a breakout weapon from the division-rival 49ers, defensive end Kerry Hyder.

The Seattle Seahawks have a new pass-rushing threat in town.

Hyder, who played in all 16 games with 14 starts in 2020, posted a career-best 8.5 sacks and became arguably the Niners’ top threat off the edge after Nick Bosa’s season-ending injury. He also compiled a total of 49 tackles, 18 QB hits, and a fumble recovery during his year-long stint with the team.

With Carlos Dunlap not re-signed as of Tuesday, Hyder helps to fill a key need for Seattle’s defense. The 30-year old defensive end went undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2014, spending that season on the New York Jets practice squad, before spending the 2015-18 seasons as a member of the Detroit Lions. Hyder played as a backup for the Dallas Cowboys in 2019, signing with the 49ers in Mar. 2020 on a one-year contract.

The Seahawks did not act very aggressively during the first few days of free agency, but with the Hyder pickup and the re-signing of defensive end Benson Mayowa, they appear to be picking up steam.

The Seattle Seahawks are re-signing one of their own, defensive end Benson Mayowa, as confirmed by his agent, DEC Management.

Numerous media outlets are reporting the contract is for two years.

Mayowa first came to Seattle as an undrafted free agent in 2013 but played with multiple other teams before returning last season on a one-year deal.

He finished his 2020 campaign with the Seahawks logging six sacks, seven tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits. He also forced two fumbles, recovered one and tallied three deflected passes.

2 studs and 2 duds in Seahawks Week 17 win over 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks are 12-4 for the first time since 2014 after beating the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 to advance to the playoffs.

It’s a wrap! The Seattle Seahawks have officially concluded the 2020 regular season with a 26-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers . . . in Glendale, AZ. It is the first time since 2017 the Seahawks have swept the 49ers, and have now won 12 of the last 14 games against San Francisco.

In typical Seahawks fashion, Seattle made it about as difficult as possible. Despite leading this team 30-7 in Week 8, the Seahawks found themselves down 16-6 to start the fourth quarter.

The Seahawks turned on the jets late, and scored three touchdowns of their own to win their 12th game of the season and finalize their postseason position. The Seahawks have finished 12-4 for the third time in franchise history, with the other two occasions happening in 1984 and 2014, which ended with a trip to Super Bowl XLIX.

It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win. Here are two studs and two duds from the Week 17 revenge over the Niners.

4 studs and 2 duds in Seahawks 23-17 win over Eagles on MNF

Here are the four studs and the two duds from the Seattle Seahawks 23-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night in Week 12.

The Seattle Seahawks cemented their position atop the NFC West and improved to the No. 2 Seed in the conference with a 23-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football.”

The City of Brotherly Love has certainly shown the Seahawks plenty of love over the years. Seattle has now won seven-straight games in Philadelphia and hasn’t suffered a loss since 1989. Quarterback Russell Wilson has also improved to a blemish-free 6-0 record versus the Eagles in his career.

It wasn’t the flashiest performance from the high-flying Seahawks offense, but they did just enough to take advantage of easily the best performance all year from Seattle’s defense who suffocated the Birds all night long.

Monday night remains Seattle’s night, as the team with the best winning percentage on Monday night in NFL history notched another W under their belts. Here are 4 studs and only 2 duds from Seattle’s victory.

Week 10 inactives: Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams

The Week 10 inactive player lists as the Seattle Seahawks take on the division-rival Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium.

The Seattle Seahawks are in Los Angeles Week 10 to take on the Rams for the first time this season. The NFC West is stacked this year and every divisional game is a must-win contest.

Ahead of the matchup, the Seahawks had already ruled out center Ethan Pocic (concussion), cornerback Shaquill Griffin (concussion/hamstring), cornerback Quinton Dunbar (knee) and defensive tackle Brian Mone (ankle – now placed on the injured reserve) on Friday’s injury report.

On Saturday, Seattle also downgraded running backs Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hayde (hamstring), as well as defensive end Benson Mayowa (ankle), to out as well. All three had been listed as questionable on Friday.

Here’s a look at the complete, Week-11 inactive lists for the Seahawks:

Week 9 inactives: Seattle Seahawks at Buffalo Bills

The inactive players for the Week-9 contest between the Seattle Seahawks and the Buffalo Bills.

The Seattle Seahawks take a trip across the country this weekend to square off against the Buffalo Bills. With a win, it would be the second 7-1 start to a season under coach Pete Carroll.

The Bills are having an impressive year themselves at 6-2 and will prove to be a formidable source on Sunday. That being said, Seattle will need to have all available hands on deck to get the Week-9 win.

Ahead of the matchup, the Seahawks already ruled out six players: running backs Chris Carson (foot) and Carlos Hyde (hamstring), guard Mike Iupati (back), cornerback Shaquill Griffin (concussion/hamstring), safety Ugo Amadi (hamstring) and defensive end Benson Mayowa (ankle).

To get to the required game-day roster, Seattle has also designated tight end Colby Parkinson as inactive.

The good, the bad, and the ugly from Seahawks’ loss to Cardinals

The Seahawks suffered their first loss of the season, falling 37-34 to the Arizona Cardinals in an overtime thriller on Sunday night.

The Seattle Seahawks are no longer undefeated, dropping to 5-1 after a 34-37 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals on “Sunday Night Football.” In true Seahawks fashion, the matchup was anything but boring, with highlights and horrors galore for both of the NFC West’s top teams. Here is just some of the good, the bad, and the ugly from yesterday’s primetime matchup.

THE GOOD

The receivers: Tyler Lockett thrilled both Seahawks fans and fantasy owners everywhere with his tremendous career night, catching 15 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns. DK Metcalf may not have lit up the stat sheet, but he prevented Cardinals safety Budda Baker from scoring a 98-yard pick-six early in the second quarter, sprinting at a recorded 22.64 mph to finally tackle the speedy DB at the Seahawks’ 8-yard line. David Moore did what he does best as the Seahawks’ WR3, appearing seemingly out of nowhere to create crucial first downs for the offense. Even without signing Antonio Brown, this unit should be set for quite some time.

Pass protection: While hardly elite, the Seahawks’ offensive line has played above expectations in 2020, and Sunday night was one of their better outings of the season. They did not surrender a single sack until overtime (in which they relinquished two), and Wilson often had plenty of time to make plays with his arm or his legs. A couple of false start penalties from RT Brandon Shell and a tripping call against RG Damien Lewis kept the unit’s overall performance from being truly great, but they were impressive in comparison to many of Seattle’s previous (recent) front fives.

Pete Carroll praises Seahawks involved in 4th-and-inches stop

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll praised the play that set up the team’s final drive, the red zone stop on 4th-and-inches Week 5.

Following the Seahawks’ improbable Week 5 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, coach Pete Carroll talked about the play that set up the Seahawks’ unforgettable final drive, the red zone stop on 4th-and-inches.

This defense has a tendency to make crucial plays with the game on the line regardless of prior struggles. Carroll praised them for doing just that with that play.

“It was awesome. A freaking great moment in the game and a great moment in football when you can stop somebody,” Carroll said in his Monday press conference. “And the whole game relies on that foot and a half that they’ve got to make, so we’re going crazy because we know we have a chance to win the game right there.”

On the play, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins handed off to running back Alexander Mattison. Seahawks linebacker Cody Barton pushed the RB’s lead blocker back, and a split second later, Bobby Wagner and Benson Mayowa crashed down on Mattison short of the line of scrimmage for the turnover on downs.

“Our guys kicked down in there and were ready for the sneak and both linebackers – Cody made a great scrape to turn the ball to Bobby – and a phenomenal job by Benson Mayowa when you really dig in to what he had to do and throw his body at that play and made it happen,” Carroll said.

The Seahawks found the perfect way to enter their well-deserved bye week at 5-0 atop the NFC. They will play the  Cardinals on the road in Week 7.
