Bears injury report: David Montgomery limited, Robert Quinn DNP on Wednesday

The Bears released their first injury report ahead of their Week 1 game against the Lions, and there are some notable names on the list.

The Chicago Bears released their first injury report of the season ahead of their Week 1 match-up against the Detroit Lions, and there are some notable names on the list.

Running back David Montgomery, who suffered a groin injury a couple of weeks ago, was limited in practice on Wednesday. Also limited were outside linebacker Khalil Mack, wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, offensive lineman Jason Spriggs and wide receiver Javon Wims.

But perhaps the biggest concern on the injury report was outside linebacker Robert Quinn, who, after barely practicing during training camp, didn’t practice in the team’s first practice of the regular season. Quinn was listed with an ankle injury, which will definitely be a storyline to watch as this week develops.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy has insisted all training camp that he’s not worried about Quinn. But with Quinn missing the first practice of game week, it’s hard not to be concerned at this point.

Bears camp: Allen Robinson, Akiem Hicks among those that did not practice on Saturday

There were several notable Bears that were absent from today’s practice, including WR Allen Robinson, DT Akiem Hicks and TE Jimmy Graham.

The Chicago Bears returned for their fourth padded practice on Saturday, which kicked up the tempo with a scrimmage between the offense and defense.

But there were several notable players that were absent from today’s practice, including receiver Allen Robinson. Robinson suffered an ankle injury during Friday’s practice, but head coach Matt Nagy didn’t sound too concerned.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks didn’t practice for the second straight day following a quad injury, although Nagy said Friday that he wasn’t worried. Tight end Jimmy Graham also did not practice Saturday on a veteran rest day.

Receiver Anthony Miller didn’t participate in team drills on Saturday, which was a day off. Nagy said “he’s in a good spot, there’s nothing going on with him.”

Bears offensive tackle Jason Spriggs did suffer a right knee injury during practice, which Nagy didn’t elaborate on.

Bears CB Artie Burns out for season with torn ACL

The Bears have had brutal luck when it comes to cornerbacks this offseason. They’ve now lost Tre Roberson and Artie Burns to injuries.

The Chicago Bears have had brutal luck when it comes to cornerbacks this offseason. After CFL star Tre Roberson broke his foot training for the upcoming season, the Bears have lost another cornerback to injury.

Cornerback Artie Burns tore his ACL during Tuesday’s padded practices, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The injury comes just one day after Burns practiced with the first-team defense opposite two-time Pro Bowler Kyle Fuller.

Burns, who Chicago signed to a one-year prove-it deal this offseason, was looking for a fresh start with the Bears. Now, he’ll be sidelined until 2021.

The attention turns to rookie Jaylon Johnson and veteran Kevin Toliver, who are the next men up. Toliver will likely assume the starting role for now, given he was working with the second team during Monday’s practice.

But that doesn’t mean the second-round rookie out of Utah won’t get a crack at the starting job. Johnson, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, was expected to get a chance to make an impact as a rookie. And the Bears will be counting on him to win the starting job perhaps as early as Week 1.

Bears CB Artie Burns left Tuesday’s practice with left knee injury

Bears CB Artie Burns suffered a left knee injury during Tuesday’s padded practice, the extent of which is unknown.

As the Chicago Bears search for a starting cornerback opposite two-time Pro Bowler Kyle Fuller, they’re currently down a cornerback following the second day of padded practices.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy informed reporters that cornerback Artie Burns left Tuesday’s practice with a left knee injury. Nagy said the team doesn’t know the full extent of the injury and is awaiting further information.

Burns, who Chicago signed to a one-year prove-it deal this offseason, opened training camp with the starting defense during Monday’s padded practice.

The cornerback competition is one that will draw a lot of eyes in camp as Burns competes with rookie Jaylon Johnson and veteran Kevin Toliver. With Burns currently down, Toliver should assume the starting role as he worked with the second-team on Monday.

While there hasn’t been a lot of Johnson, as he’s recovering from shoulder surgery and acclimating, Nagy expects that to change as the days go on.

Bears injury report: Robert Quinn, Sherrick McManis did not practice in team drills

OLB Robert Quinn and S Sherrick McManis did not practice during the team drills in Chicago’s first padded practice of training camp.

With the first padded practice in the books, there weren’t any major injury concerns for the Chicago Bears. Which is encouraging given some news around the NFL involving some significant injuries. But there were some small hiccups.

According to head coach Matt Nagy, outside linebacker Robert Quinn and safety Sherrick McManis did not practice in Chicago’s first padded practice on Monday.

Quinn, who the Bears signed to a massive five-year, $70 million deal, did participate in Monday’s padded practice. But he didn’t practice during the team portion of drills. Nagy said it was a “personal issue” and that Quinn is still ramping back up to practice.

As for McManis, he was also on the practice field Monday, but he was limited with a shoulder injury. Nagy said that it was “nothing to be worried about.”

Prince Amukamara questionable, Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman out vs. Vikings

The Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s game vs. Vikings, and several starters are out or doubtful.

The Bears released their final injury report ahead of the game against the Vikings, where several starters are out or in doubt for Sunday.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (elbow) did not practice all week, and he’s been ruled out against Minnesota. Hicks finishes the 2019 season with five starts, after dealing with an elbow injury that landed him on injured reserve for eight weeks.

Nose tackle Eddie Goldman remains in concussion protocol after sustaining one in last week’s game against the Chiefs.

On the offensive line, Bobby Massie was limited in practice for the first time since suffering a high ankle sprain against the Giants in Week 12. But Massie is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game, as is right guard Rashaad Coward, who suffered a knee injury last week against Kansas City. This could open the door for rookie Alex Bars to play at right guard in Chicago’s season finale.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara was limited for the second straight practice, and he is listed as questionable against the Vikings. Amukamara’s future in Chicago is cloudy, especially considering second-year cornerback Kevin Toliver has impressed in the short time he’s been on the field this season. If Amukamara can’t go, look for Toliver to get the start. Even if Amukamara plays, look for him to split reps with Toliver.

The Bears and Vikings kick things off at noon CT on FOX.

Bears Injury Report: Prince Amukamara limited, Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman DNP Thursday

The Bears released their Thursday injury report, and once again Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman didn’t practice. Prince Amukamara was limited.

The Chicago Bears released their injury report following Thursday’s practice, and it was more of the same for the Bears following estimations from Wednesday.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (elbow) and nose tackle Eddie Goldman (concussion) did not practice Thursday. Considering the Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention and the severity of head injuries, both aren’t expected to play in Sunday’s season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Then there’s cornerback Prince Amukamara, who was limited Thursday after being listed as a full participant on Wednesday as he nurses a pesky hamstring injury. The Bears would do well to also rest Amukamara and get another good look at second-year cornerback Kevin Toliver in a job that might be his come next season.

Right guard Rashaad Coward was once again limited on Thursday after suffering a knee injury against the Chiefs. Like with Amukamara, if Coward can’t go on Sunday, they’d do best to insert rookie Alex Bars into the starting lineup to get a look at him in live game action ahead of 2020, which is sure to bring some changes to the offensive line.

The Bears and Vikings kick things off at noon Sunday in Chicago’s season finale.

Bears Injury Report Wednesday Estimates: Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman DNP

The Bears didn’t practice on Wednesday, but they released an injury report estimate, where Akiem Hicks and Eddie Goldman didn’t practice.

While the Chicago Bears didn’t practice Wednesday, they released an injury report estimation heading into a Week 17 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who didn’t play against the Kansas City Chiefs, was listed as “did not practice,” along with nose tackle Eddie Goldman, who suffered a concussion against the Chiefs that likely ends his season.

Right guard Rashaad Coward, who suffered a knee injury against Kansas City, was listed as limited. He was replaced by Ted Larsen in that game. But if Coward can’t go Sunday, it would be a good opportunity to see rookie Alex Bars in his first regular-season action.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara was listed on the injury report as he recovers from a hamstring injury. He was listed as a full participant, but he could wind up splitting reps with second-year cornerback Kevin Toliver in Chicago’s season finale.

The Bears will play the Vikings in their season finale Sunday at noon.

Bears DT Akiem Hicks, CB Prince Amukamara questionable vs. Chiefs

The Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s game vs. Chiefs, and DT Akiem Hicks and CB Prince Amukamara are questionable.

The Chicago Bears released their final injury report ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and two defensive starters are questionable.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks, who returned last week against the Packers after battling a dislocated elbow suffered in Week 5, seemed to reaggregate the injury last Sunday.

Hicks was a full participant in practice all week and wasn’t listed on the injury report. He was designated a questionable status on Friday, but Bears coach Matt Nagy expects him to play against the Chiefs.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara is also questionable for Sunday as he deals with a hamstring injury suffered against the Lions in Week 13. Amukamara started last week’s game against the Packers, but reserve Kevin Toliver also saw playing time in his place.

Amukamara was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday, and his status is in question for Sunday. If that’s the case, Toliver would make his third career start.

Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols was limited Friday, as he usually is when the Bears practice indoors.

Bears Injury Report: CB Prince Amukamara limited Thursday

The Bears released their Thursday injury report, and DT Akiem Hicks looks to be good to go for Sunday against the Chiefs.

The Chicago Bears released their Thursday injury report ahead of Sunday’s primetime game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and there were some defensive standouts.

Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks once again did not pop up on the injury report, and Bears coach Matt Nagy said that Hicks will play Sunday against the Chiefs. Nagy has insisted that these final two games will be treated like the others in terms of starters playing.

Cornerback Prince Amukamara was listed as limited during Thursday’s practice. Amukamara continues to nurse a hamstring injury suffered against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. He played last week against the Green Packers, but second-year cornerback Kevin Toliver saw some playing time, as well. If Amukamara can’t go, expect Toliver to get his third career start.

Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel (concussion) and right tackle Bobby Massie (ankle) did not participate in practice for the second straight day this week. They haven’t played since Week 12, where they suffered injuries against the New York Giants.
