Watch: Notre Dame’s impressive practice snow ball fight

PLAY like a champion today, indeed!

In case you missed it, the snow didn’t wait until senior day on Saturday to reach Notre Dame’s campus this week.  Instead, South Bend and St. Joseph’s county as a whole were blasted by snow early and often this week.

In prepping for Boston College this week, Notre Dame practiced outdoors and in the elements.  They certainly seemed comfortable in those elements as they cruised to a 44-0 victory over their step-brother.

What got the Irish to perform so well on game day?

Sure the practices outdoors may have helped but their snowball fight earlier in the week certainly seemed to set the proper tone.  Check it out courtesy of the Notre Dame football Twitter feed.

I would like to go back to college right about now.  Alright, thanks.  Check out our postgame coverage of the Boston College massacre at the links below.

Five keys for Notre Dame to defeat Boston College

What are your keys?

It was a tale of two halves for each of these two teams last week, the Irish narrowly hanging on to grab a road victory against Navy while BC scored the upset against NC State. Even with a less than stellar record, the Eagles have obvious talent to hang with the Irish. These five keys will help Notre Dame stave off the upset hungry visitors.

Know your foe, Boston College: Which Eagles could give Notre Dame problems

The Irish will have their hands full with these five

The Irish have another home game against an undermanned team but this year nothing is a given. Each win this year has been earned and that will be the same this Saturday. The Eagles are fresh off an upset victory over NC State, so they’ll be flying high when the face the Irish. [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] will have to have his team ready as this team is better than their 3-7 record and these are five Eagles that have the potential to give Notre Dame problems.

When a game with a funky shaped ball is created you expect strange things to tend to happen when games are played.

Saturday was exactly that as No. 2 Notre Dame traveled to Boston College and although it probably won’t win any awards for best picture in the 2020 Fighting Irish season, it certainly was enough enough to move to 8-0 on the year, something they’ve done just five times since 1990, three of which have no occurred under Brian Kelly.

Here are five instant takeaways from Notre Dame’s Saturday win over long-time nuisance, Boston College.

Must See: Brian Kelly’s reaction to ’93 Notre Dame-Boston College

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly had the same reaction every Notre Dame fan does whenever they hear about the ’93 Boston College upset.

If you’re a Notre Dame fan you already know the heartbreak and pain that comes with thinking about the series with Boston College.

Sure, Notre Dame leads all-time head-to-head with the Eagles 16-9, but the most memorable moment of the series came in 1993 when Tom Coughlin, Glen Foley and Boston College came to South Bend a week after the Irish upset No. 1 Florida State and ruined the title dreams.

If you’re a Notre Dame fan, regardless of age, you’re undoubtedly sick and tired of hearing about that game.

The good news for you is that so is Brian Kelly.

During his Thursday media availability Kelly was asked about the ’93 meeting with Boston College and his reaction was exactly that of every Notre Dame fan whenever that game is brought up.

Kelly eventually responded to being asked about that game by saying:

“It’s more about where your mind is at and and who you’re playing. If we were playing a JV team, it wouldn’t matter. That BC team that Notre Dame played, I think it was a nationally ranked team. It was a really good football team. This is a really good football team we’re playing, so it matters who you’re playing. We’re playing them in their red bandanna game, which is their most sacred game, if you will. There’s certainly a lot to the BC-Notre Dame game. We talk about much more in terms of how we’re preparing for a team that is a really good football team and certainly that you’re the No. 2 team in the country, you have a target on your back. That’s really much more relevant than the historical significance of the game and if they understand that, then you’re going to get the preparation that you need so you’re prepared to play at the level you need to play at.”
