Even though it wasn’t the Badgers’ best defensive game against USC, they were finally able to find a rhythm among the starters on offense. This included point guard Chucky Hepburn, who was able to find his jump shot after a rough few games and finished with a game-high 17 points while also hitting 3-5 from three-point range.

It wasn’t necessarily the result that the Badgers may have hoped for, but they certainly impressed the country with their impressive defensive performances in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Five insane stats from Wisconsin’s low-scoring win over Dayton

Some wild stats from a strange win in The Bahamas

Wisconsin’s 43-42 win over Dayton provided some statistical shocks, but it all ended in a Badger victory.

This was low-scoring Wisconsin basketball on steroids, as neither team could find anything on offense, both struggled from three, and there were long stretches without any scoring.

There are final numbers from this game you simply don’t see in a win, but you might see in a lopsided loss. We will dig into some of those numbers in just a second.

With the win, Wisconsin improved to 4-0 and will meet Kansas tomorrow morning in The Bahamas. Here is a look at five wild stats from the win:

Photos from Wisconsin basketball’s 43-42 victory over the Dayton Flyers in the Battle 4 Atlantis:

The Wisconsin Badgers beat the Dayton Flyers 43-42 as underdogs in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Badgers shut down the Flyers’ offense and made the game a defensive battle. They will move on to face the No. 5-ranked Kansas Jayhawks at 10 a.m. CT on Thanksgiving Day.

The Badgers limited the Flyers to 14 points in the first half and only a 30.2 field goal percentage on the day. Wisconsin center Steven Crowl had a good defensive performance with nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Their leading scorer was true freshman Connor Essegian who racked up 13 points while going 2-4 from deep.

The Jayhawks will be a tough test for the Badgers on Thursday, and a victory would propel them to the final of the Battle 4 Atlantis and likely into the next USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
