Here are the best images from Arkansas’ 15-point loss to North Carolina on Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis third place game.

Arkansas hasn’t beaten North Carolina on the hardwood since the 1995 Final Four in Seattle.

The Tar Heels have won the last five meetings after Friday’s 15-point victory in the third place game of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.

Eric Musselman’s team will face UNC’s most hated rival, the Duke Blue Devils, in its next meeting on Wednesday night in Bud Walton Arena.

The status of Tramon Mark for that game will likely be up in the air, along with Jalen Graham, who didn’t make the trip to the Bahamas because of lingering back spasms.

Here are the best images from Friday’s third place tilt.

R.J. Davis anchors second-half comeback, helps UNC capture third in Battle 4 Atlantas

UNC dropped an overtime contest to Villanova on Thursday, but responded to dominate Arkansas in the second half of Friday’s 87-72 victory.

After struggling to hang with Villanova in yesterday’s Battle 4 Atlantis semifinal matchup, UNC needed to prove it could play with a good Arkansas team on Friday afternoon.

That was going to be significantly tougher to do, with starter Cormac Ryan being ruled out from Thursday’s ankle injury. Carolina trailed by three at halftime – a deficit easy to climb, but nonetheless concerning it was trailing.

Star guard R.J. Davis wasn’t about to let his Tar Heels lose a second straight game.

A day after shooting just 8-of-22 from the field, Davis led UNC to an 87-72, second-half comeback victory over Arkansas. He shot exactly 50 percent (9-of-18) from the field and earned a perfect, 10-of-10 mark from the free throw line.

The Tar Heels outscored the Razorbacks by a whopping, 52-34 margin in the second half, after being outscored 38-35 in the opening half.

Carolina’s defense had to endure yet another prolific scorer on Friday, this time in the form of Tramon Mark. The Houston transfer exploded for 34 points on 13-of-17 shooting, before being carted off on a stretcher late in the second half.

On Thanksgiving day, Villanova’s Eric Dixon enjoyed a 34-point outing on 11-of-19 shooting.

UNC big man Armando Bacot struggled shooting the ball again, scoring just nine points for his second-consecutive game in single digits, but his teammates picked him up today. Every Tar Heel scored at least five points – Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram (13 points) and sophomore guard Seth Trimble (12) both reached double-digits.

Player of the Game

I know we highlighted how productive he was above, but I have to give this honor to senior guard R.J. Davis.

He scored 22 points yesterday in the loss against Villanova, but he only shot 8-of-22 from the field. Davis rebounded today against Arkansas, tallying a season-high 30 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the field, plus a perfect 10-of-10 mark on free throws.

With no Cormac Ryan available, Davis was needed extra in the win. He delivered.

What’s next?

Carolina doesn’t have another game during Thanksgiving weekend, but it’ll turn around and host an SEC Power in Tennessee on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 p.m. This’ll be part of the ACC-SEC Challenge.

Tar Heels have three close wins in past three matchups vs. Arkansas

The UNC and Arkansas men’s basketball teams face off at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. They’ve provided a few thrilling, recent matchups.

When the UNC and Arkansas men’s basketball teams face off at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 24, it’ll be for third place in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament – held annually over Thanksgiving week.

It’ll also be the Tar Heels and Razorbacks’ third meeting since 2015, plus their second-straight November matchup. When Carolina and Arkansas last met – on Friday, Nov. 24 in the 2017 Phil Knight Invitational, it was the boys in baby blue who emerged with an 87-68 victory.

The most memorable matchup, if you recall, was likely the 2017 NCAA Tournament clash on Sunday, March 19 in Greenville, S.C.

UNC was the top seed and heavy tournament favorite, which gave it a huge target on its back. The Tar Heels rolled through their opening-round matchup against Texas Southern, but got a huge test from one of the SEC’s best.

Arkansas was up five points in the final three minutes, which is just enough of an advantage to make an opponent go into desperation mode. The Razorback were about to give Carolina a second-consecutive year of disappointment.

What UNC did next, was thanks to its veteran roster, led by the likes of Joel Berry, Kennedy Meeks, Isaiah Hicks and Nate Britt. . The Tar Heels closed the game out on a 12-0 run, putting themselves one step closer to their eventual, sixth National Championship.

Carolina could really use a win against this year’s Arkansas squad, as it lost a heart-breaker to Villanova last night.

Battle 4 Atlantis – No. 20 Arkansas vs. No. 14 North Carolina: How to watch, stream, listen and more

In the third-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis, the Hogs and Tar Heels will meet for just the 11th time ever. Here’s how you can catch all of the action later today.

After a rough outing in the semifinals on Thanksgiving, 20th-ranked Arkansas (4-2) will face 14th-ranked North Carolina (4-1) in the third-place game of the Battle 4 Atlantis.

The Hogs’ Bahamas journey got off to a dramatic start on Wednesday night as they needed two overtimes to beat Stanford, 77-74. In the semifinals, Arkansas renewed a 20-year rivalry with Memphis on Thanksgiving Day. Unfortunately, turnovers and mental mistakes proved too costly and they fell to the Tigers, 84-79.

The Tar Heels were able to blow past Northern Iowa in their first game on Wednesday. In their semifinal bout with Villanova, they built a nine-point lead early but it was a back-and-forth contest in the second half that eventually needed overtime. North Carolina would come up short in the extra frame, 83-81.

This is the 10th ever meeting between these two programs, but hasn’t been very kind to the Razorbacks. North Carolina leads the all-time series 7-3, with the last matchup taking place in 2017 when the Tar Heels defeated Arkansas 87-68.

Here’s how you can watch all of the action on Friday, listening options, key players and more.

Battle 4 Atlantis – No. 20 Arkansas vs. Memphis: How to watch, stream, listen and more

It’s been 20 years since Arkansas and Memphis have played but that changes today. Here’s how you can watch this rivalry finally be renewed.

Following the dramatic, 77-74 double-overtime win over Stanford on Wednesday night, Arkansas will renew a rivalry in the semifinals of the [autotag]Battle 4 Atlantis[/autotag] Tournament.

On Thanksgiving, the Hogs will face off against the Memphis Tigers for the first time in 20 years. The last time these two programs faced off was during the 2002-03 season, and Memphis won 72-67. Despite winning the most recent meeting, Arkansas holds the advantage in the all-time series record, 11-10.

In the past 20 years, both programs have been through their fair share of ups and downs. Now, with [autotag]Eric Musselman[/autotag] and Penny Hardaway leading their respective teams back into the national spotlight, it’s only fitting that this once great rivalry is finally renewed. While it’s only for one game, it could very easily lead to something more permanent down the road.

Here’s how you can catch all of the action between Arkansas and Memphis, how to stream it, listen, key players and more.

Beyond the Box: Defense, rebounding lead Hogs past Stanford in double-OT thriller

Arkansas had another abysmal shooting performance on Wednesday night. Let’s take a closer look at how they overcame that and beat Stanford in double-overtime.

A win is a win.

On a night defined by offensive struggles from both teams, Arkansas was able to lean on their defense and rebounding to grind out a dramatic double-overtime win over Stanford, 77-74, in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis. With the win, the Hogs move on and face Memphis tomorrow in the second round.

In last Friday’s loss to UNC-Greensboro, the Hogs struggled to get anything going offensively until the second half. However, they also failed to get stops in crucial moments, end possessions with rebounds and create second chances on the offensive glass.

On Wednesday night, the Arkansas offense was really the only issue as the Hogs shot 30.3% on field goal attempts for the entire game. That includes going 0-7 from the field during the first overtime period.

Let’s take a closer look at how the Razorbacks overcame an abysmal shooting performance to beat Stanford and move on in the [autotag]Battle 4 Atlantis[/autotag] Tournament.

UNC basketball vs. Villanova: How to watch Thursday’s game

Here’s how you can watch Thursday’s matchup between the UNC basketball program and Villanova.

The North Carolina men’s basketball team will play Villanova in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament second round taking place in the Bahamas.

It was quite a scare for UNC in round one of the tournament after falling behind Northern Iowa in the first half. Thankfully for Tar Heel fans, the scare didn’t last long, with UNC declawing the UNI Panthers in the second period.

There is a handful of exciting matching-ups that could come out of this tournament, and we already get a great second round with UNC looking for revenge from 2016. Let’s take a look at how to watch North Carolina’s second round.

Battle 4 Atlantis – No. 20 Arkansas vs. Stanford: How to watch, stream, listen and more

Arkansas and Stanford face off in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday. Here’s how to catch all of the action, key players and much more.

[autotag]Eric Musselman[/autotag]’s Hogs are once again breaking out their passports and participating in Feast Week.

Last year, Arkansas travelled to Hawaii and played in the Maui Invitational. This year, they’re at Paradise Island in the Bahamas to take part in the [autotag]Battle 4 Atlantis[/autotag]. First up for the Razorbacks – a rare match-up with the Stanford Cardinal (3-1).

This will be just the third all-time meeting between the two programs and Stanford owns victories in the two contests. The first came in 1948, where the Hogs fell to the Cardinal 60-53. Their most recent meeting came in 2015 as part of the NIT Tipoff, with Stanford edging out Arkansas, 69-66.

Stanford was picked to finish eighth in the Pac-12 during the conference’s media days. The Cardinal, like the Hogs, sit at 3-1 on the season with wins over Cal State Northridge, Sacramento State and Eastern Washington. Their lone loss came last Tuesday to Santa Clara, 89-77.

Here’s how you can catch all of Wednesday night’s action from the Bahamas, players to watch from both teams and much more.

Arkansas basketball: Battle 4 Atlantis schedule set, Razorbacks to face Stanford in first round

Arkansas draws Stanford in first round of Battle 4 Atlantis, but fans may look ahead to a possible rivalry game in the second round.

The games for the 2023 [autotag]Battle 4 Atlantis[/autotag] have been officially set. Arkansas will face Stanford in the opening round of the eight-team tournament. The full tournament features 12 games played from November 22-24 in the Bahamas.

Last season, Stanford went 14-19 (7-13) and missed out on postseason action in the seventh season under head coach Jerrod Haase. This season, the Cardinal were able to add McDonald’s All-American forward Andrej Stojakovic and top-40 guard Kanaan Carlyle. Expect Stanford to be much more competitive in 2023.

Like the Maui Invitational last year, this 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis field is stacked. Looking at the other three games and the group of teams is extremely competitive. North Carolina will face Northern Iowa in the first game of the tournament. Don’t scoff – Northern Iowa is a talented mid-major program that will probably make some noise

In the second game of the tournament, Villanova and Texas Tech will compete. Those two schools that are no strangers to deep tournament runs, usually in March. The other matchup is Michigan and Memphis, two programs with very rich basketball history.

The winner of Arkansas-Stanford will go on to play the winner of Michigan-Memphis the following day. Conversely, the losers of those two games will face each other also. If both the Razorbacks and Memphis Tigers are able to win, we could see the rekindling of an old, classic basketball rivalry this year.

Arkansas and Stanford are scheduled to tip-off at 6:30 p.m. CT on November 22 and can be seen on ESPNU.
