WATCH: Greg Gard previews Wisconsin’s upcoming road test

In what feels like a classic lookahead game to Sunday as the Badgers and Boilermakers meet in a top-ten matchup for the top of the Big Ten standings this weekend, Wisconsin begins the week by traveling to Nebraska.

Don’t look past the Huskers, who have a good chance of an NCAA Tournament berth as we head into the week. Nebraska sits at 5-5 in the Big Ten, and has been dominant at home. In fact, the Huskers have been a dominant 13-1 at home which includes a win over Purdue. Coach Greg Gard knows the Badgers have a tough test on Thursday night, and here is him previewing Nebraska earlier this week:

In last night’s win over Michigan State, Tyler Wahl joined an elite Wisconsin group

The Badger forward reaches the century mark

With Wisconsin’s 16th win of the season and a season sweep of Michigan State, Tyler Wahl earned his 100th win as a member of the Badgers. There have been very few Wisconsin players in history that have reached the century mark, as the Minnesota native is just one of seven Badgers all-time to accomplish the feat.

He joins an elite group that includes former Wooden Award winner Frank Kaminsky, his former teammate Brad Davison and several other Badger greats:

Wahl has a chance to add to his total next week as the Badgers visit Nebraska then have a showdown looming against Purdue at home.

ESPN college basketball inside Joe Lunardi updated his latest bracket on Friday and Wisconsin is cemented as a two-seed.

The Badgers will see the only Big Ten team ahead of them in the bracket next week as Purdue travels to the Kohl Center to take on Wisconsin. The latest update came yesterday just before Wisconsin took down Michigan State 81-66 in a dominant home victory.

Wisconsin basketball is currently a No. 2 seed in Lunardi’s bracket as they sit at 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Despite trailing Wisconsin in the league standings, Purdue is the lone Big Ten No. 1 seed in the ESPN bracket.

Greg Gard became one of the fastest coaches in college basketball history to do this

Earlier this week, Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard reached 100 wins in the loaded Big Ten conference.

With a 100-62 overall record in conference play as the Wisconsin head coach, Gard became the sixth-fastest coach to reach 100 conference wins over the last 50 seasons, and he isn’t the only Badger-friendly name on the list. Bo Ryan was the second-fastest to 100 wins as he went 100-40 during his time as the Wisconsin leader en route to the wins century-mark.

Nobody has done it faster than Bob Knight, who went 100-35 as Indiana’s head coach to begin his Big Ten tenure. Here is a complete look at the leaderboard:

Brad Davison returns to the Kohl Center

Wisconsin’s final non-conference matchup ended with a win over Chicago State and a salute to a Badger basketball alum. The Badgers welcomed back Brad Davison to the Kohl Center, who gave Wisconsin everything he had over his five-year playing career.

His Badger time ended after 2021-22, a season where he scored a career-best 14.1 points per game and grabbed over four rebounds per contest.

He received quite the ovation from the Badger crowd upon his return, as the Badger faithful welcomed back a player who was always a fan favorite. Check out Davison’s return to the Kohl Center as part of Wisconsin’s final win before Big Ten play resumes at home against Iowa next week:

Bo Ryan is officially on the Basketball Hall of Fame ballot

A Badger basketball legend is on the Hall of Fame ballot

Legendary Wisconsin basketball coach Bo Ryan is officially on the ballot for the Basketball Hall of Fame. The resume is stacked for a Badger legend and Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame inductee.

As a head coach at Wisconsin, Ryan led the Badgers to a 364-130 mark, including a pair of memorable Final Four appearances and a national championship game appearance. He won seven Big Ten championships as the head coach of Wisconsin basketball.

Ryan had Wisconsin fans numb to NCAA Tournament appearances, as it just felt like a given year in and year out. The Badgers went to 14 straight NCAA Tournaments under Bo Ryan. Here is more on the legendary Hall of Fame resume:

Wisconsin basketball starts the year with exhibition route of UW Stevens-Point

The Badgers start the season with an exhibition win

Wisconsin officially starts their season on Monday, November 6 when Arkansas State comes to town, but the Badgers were on the court for the first time on Wednesday in an exhibition win over UW Stevens Point.

The Badgers took down the Pointers 87-44, and were able to get minutes for the entirety of the active roster in the win.

St. John’s transfer AJ Storr led the way offensively with 14 points on 5-7 from the field and a pair of made threes. Steven Crowl and Connor Essegian were the other two Badgers in double figures. The starting five consisted of Storr, Crowl, Chucky Hepburn, Max Klesmit, and Tyler Wahl with Essegian as the first man off the pine.

Storr showed off his shooting and ability to get above the rim:

Andy Katz sees Wisconsin among dark horse Final Four contenders

Are the Badgers a dark horse for a deep run?

Wisconsin basketball season is just a week away, and with it comes renewed expectations for a team that has the talent to get back to the NCAA Tournament and make some noise once they get there.

A returning core of Connor Essegian, Chucky Hepburn, Tyler Wahl, Max Klesmit, and Steven Crowl headlines a roster that also adds St. John’s transfer AJ Storr among other exciting additions.

NCAA March Madness reporter, and Badger alum although we promise it didn’t play into any bias on this list, Andy Katz listed his top ten dark horse Final Four contenders earlier this week. While all of these teams may not be true deep dark horses, it’s a list of squads that could certainly make deep runs. It included Wisconsin, Illinois, and Maryland out of the Big Ten:

The Badger guard is going to give fans an inside look

Rising sophomore guard Connor Essegian is ready to give Wisconsin fans an inside look at what it means to be a Badger, specifically a Wisconsin Badger basketball student-athlete.

Essegian had a standout freshman season where he set the program record for made threes by a first-year player, and was one of the key Badger contributors down the stretch of the year. He spent this summer with the Armenian National Team as he was able to gain valuable experience playing a pair of exhibition games against France.

Essegian posted on Twitter that he was ready to give Badger fans the inside scoop on what it means to be a Wisconsin basketball player. Who is ready for an Essegian gameday vlog?

Wisconsin offers a 6-foot-4 small forward out of the Badger State

The Badgers made another 2025 basketball offer this week as Wisconsin extended an offer to LaTrevion Fenderson.

Fenderson plays his high school basketball at The Prairie School in the Badger State. The Badgers are his first offer on the record. He is only 15 years old, and Wisconsin is getting in early.

He had a fantastic sophomore campaign where he averaged 17.1 points per game and nearly 11 rebounds per game. At 6-foot-5 and as a player with an already well-developed all-around game, a number of big-time teams should be involved later on in his recruitment.

Wisconsin now has eight offers that have gone out in the 2025 class.
