From West to Bale, a ranking of the best movie versions of Batman

Who is the best Batman?

Robert Pattinson’s first foray as the Caped Crusader with The Batman is hitting theaters March 4. He’s the latest in a long line of actors to take on the iconic superhero, and early returns are good.

Reviews are praising the film, with Rotten Tomatoes giving the DCEU addition a “Certified Fresh” rating at 85 percent. Matt Reeves directs as Pattinson’s Batman faces off against the Riddler and the Penguin with the help of Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman).

It has a long run time — an impressive two hours and 56 minutes — but 92 percent of audiences have given the movie a thumbs up.

In honor of Pattinson donning the tell-tale mask, we decided to rank some of the previous Gotham defenders. Keep in mind, this only takes into account their performance as Batman, not as Bruce Wayne, and does not include Pattinson (yet).

Robert Pattinson wore an oversized suit to ‘The Batman’ premiere and NBA fans all made the same joke

“With the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, The Batman selects….”

European audiences finally got a look at the newest caped crusader as The Batman premiered in London. That meant the stars of the film were all there, too, with actor/model/spokesman Robert Pattinson getting the full red carpet treatment before his debut as Bruce Wayne.

Now, in the world of high fashion, Pattinson’s choice to wear an oversized suit on the red carpet was seen as just the latest installment of Pattinson’s distinct personal taste.

Here’s how Liam Hess of Vogue described the outfit:

“Pattinson wore a look designed by Luke and Lucie Meier for Jil Sander—and with the couple’s reputation for delivering slick but playful riffs on tailoring staples, it was a match made in red carpet heaven. Pattinson’s oversized gray suit carried all of the grunge-inspired flair the actor likes to bring to the classic red carpet suit, worn with a sleek black turtleneck, minimalist leather boots, and a thick silver chain bracelet by Chrome Hearts.”

Once the outfit made its way over to NBA Twitter, however, basketball fans could only assume Pattinson had traveled back in time to attend the 2003 Draft.

Lest we forget, the 2003 NBA draft class featured LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Kaman, Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, David West, Boris Diaw, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver and Mo Williams.

Hopefully the new Batman film will be just as good and Pattinson is paying homage to the greats who wore baggy suits before him.

Andre Drummond says he is the Alfred to Sixers star Joel Embiid’s Batman

Philadelphia 76ers big man Andre Drummond says he is the Alfred to Joel Embiid’s Batman.

The Philadelphia 76ers brought in Andre Drummond on a veteran’s minimum contract in the offseason in order to properly back up Joel Embiid and give him the proper rest he needs in order for him to be at his best.

Through two games with the Sixers, Drummond is only averaging 5.0 points, but he is averaging 13.5 rebounds with 2.5 assists and 2.0 blocks this far. He is allowing Embiid to be able to have the proper rest when needed and he looks like he can be a really solid addition to this team in the long run.

With Drummond here, he feels like he has an obligation to the big fella. Like he has to be able to give him the proper lookout when he needs it. So, he is like a fictional character who always comes through when a certain superhero needs it.

“The dynamic has been great,” said Drummond on Tuesday. “When Batman is out doing his stuff, he needs an Alfred. When Batman’s out there stopping crime, Alfred’s out there overseeing making sure everything is good. Whatever he needs, I’m there with the quickness. I think that’s a good analogy.”

Drummond had been a starter in the entirety of his career before coming to Philadelphia. That means nine seasons of being a consistent starter as well as being a 2-time All-Star before accepting a lesser role with the Sixers and while that would upset most players, he is just here to win and make an impact.

Even if that means being just Alfred rather than Batman.

“I’m here to win,” he said succinctly. “Whatever the capacity it may be and whatever role it needs to be in, I’m here to win, that’s why they brought me here to help this team in whatever way I can. Whether it’s to start when Joel needs a break or just to come off the bench and give a spark to our second unit. It’s a role I’ve embraced and it’s been very fun.”

Drummond has been dealing with an ankle sprain that caused him to miss Sunday’s matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder and he is questionable for Tuesday’s matchup with the New York Knicks. However, he looks as if he is ready to help the Sixers continue to move forward on their championship push.

The first issue of this collaboration features Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Batwoman teaming up with FaZe Clan to fight The Joker, Mr. Freeze, and The Riddler. At least, that’s what we can glean from the cover art, anyway.

“DC is excited to partner with FaZe Clan to share this custom Batman story with their amazing gaming fans,” Daniel Cherry III, general manager at DC Comics, said via Esports Insider. “This partnership is a great opportunity to invite even more fans into the iconic DC universe.”

Check out the teaser for this collaboration for yourself below.

“The limited-edition comic will feature popular FaZe Clan members like Banks, Apex, Temperrr, Rain, Adapt, Rug and Blaze in Super Hero form,” DC Comics said on its official blog. “And this is just the beginning. There’s even more FaZe Clan and Batman coming in Batman Month that fans won’t want to miss, including limited-edition Batman and FaZe Clan merchandise like esports jerseys, tees, hoodies and more.”

The comic will be out on Sept. 24 for those that dig these sorts of crossovers.

A brief history on the evolution of Pittsburgh Steelers uniforms

A look at how the Pittsburgh Steelers uniforms have changed since 1933.

The NFC South has recently seen two teams — the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — unveil new uniforms.

It’s been decades since the Steelers have had a complete overhaul of their jersey design. Let’s take a look at how it’s changed over the years.

During World War II, the NFL saw many men head off to the battlefields. For two consecutive seasons the Steelers, who had changed their name from the Pirates in 1940, merged with other teams to fill rosters.

In 1943, after merging with the Philadelphia Eagles, they were the Phil-Pitt Combine (better known as the Steagles) and donned uniforms with green uppers and gray lowers. In 1944, the team merged with the Arizona Cardinals to become the Card-Pitt Carpets and had two uniforms — white pants with red shirts and white pants with blue shirts.

Thankfully, the team changed its name back to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1945. Since then, they haven’t strayed much from their classic threads.

The last dramatic change happened in 1966 when the Steelers wore the “Batman” jersey.

With the exception of those worn from 2007-11, the throwback jerseys have been rather unpopular.

1994’s throwback resembled more of a soccer jersey and featured the Steelers’ very first logo, the city of Pittsburgh’s coat of arms. This was their home jersey in 1933 only when they were known as the Pirates. The 2007 throwback upper was used in a variation of the color rush uniform when the league unveiled them in 2015.

Let’s not talk about the dreaded bumblebee which met its demise in 2016.

Here you’ll find a snazzy GIF that will take you through the evolution of the jersey through 2015.

The Steelers have not done a complete redesign in decades. I’d like to see all gold with black names/numbers, a nod to the 1940 Steelers. Do you think it’s time the Steelers joined the craze? What would you like to see?

Jameis Winston embraces the villain role in latest Instagram post

Take a look at Jameis Winston’s latest Instagram post, where he takes some inspiration from Tom Hardy’s Bane.

Say what you want about Jameis Winston, but he’s one of the more exciting NFL players to follow on Instagram. From belting out the ABCs with his son to offering tips on parenting, the soon-to-be free agent QB certainly seems to have his hands full this offseason.

But let’s not forget that Winston is also a professional, and regardless of where he ends up once the free agency dust settles, he’ll be competing to play in 2020. Winston knows better than anyone the criticism that’s been swirling around him in Tampa Bay the last few years, and after a season in which he threw 30 interceptions, the Bucs might finally be ready to move on.

To his credit, Winston seems to know the deck may be stacked against him right now with the Bucs, which might be why he’s embracing the role of the villain in his latest Instagram post, quoting Tom Hardy’s Bane from the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises.

Take a look.

All right, so maybe Winston is just quoting Bane because he looks like him in the picture wearing that mask. Still, it’s good to see Winston putting in the work with his fresh set of eyes.

For those of you jonesing for some Tom Hardy Bane, I’ve got you covered.
