WATCH: Texas DB B.J. Foster intercepts Gerry Bohanon on Baylor’s first drive

B.J. Foster grabs a huge interception on Baylor’s first drive.

The Longhorns are looking to end their two-game losing streak, as they take on No. 16 Baylor in Week 9.

Contrary to what they have done when they have won the toss earlier in the season, Texas opted to kick first rather than start off with the offense.

Going into the game, Texas knew that they needed to stop the run, but more importantly prevent Gerry Bohanon from getting hot and beating them in the air.

After a nice completion on their first play of the game, Bohanon made a risky decision when he threw into coverage with four Longhorns around.  The throw ended with Texas defensive back B.J. Foster running the ball back, as he grabbed his third interception of the season.

This was a critical play as Bohanon is typically very smart with the ball, and that is only his second interception on the season. Foster gave the Longhorns the ball in premium field position, and a chance to take an early lead. Unfortunately, the lead was short-lived.

Texas and Baylor are now tied 7-7 with four minutes to go in the first quarter.

Studs and duds from Texas’ humbling loss to Arkansas

Here are the studs and duds from Texas’ loss to Arkansas.

Happy Monday, where the humiliation of Texas’ 40-21 loss to Arkansas is still lingering. A lot went wrong in game No. 2 of the Steve Sarkisian era and a lot is left to be desired.

“At the end of the day, I think our team is a gritty team,” Sarkisian said during his press conference. “I think they played hard. We didn’t play great Saturday night. We played hard. We didn’t do things right.”

Not only was the execution poor but the coaching staff did not seem to have the team ready for the moment. Arkansas came out of the tunnel and was ready to embrace the moment. Texas never seemed comfortable, even in the latter stages.

With a lot of poor performances, the Longhorns will have to do some reflection before facing Rice. At the same time, looking for some positive outcomes never hurts.

Here are the studs and duds from Texas’ loss to Arkansas.

Joseph Ossai leads defensive keys for Longhorns against Kansas State

These three defensive players will be paramount for the Texas Longhorns to leave Manhattan with a victory on Saturday.

After opening Big 12 Conference play with a 4-0 record, the Kansas State Wildcats have now lost four in a row. In their season finale on senior day they look to get back on the winning side and end the year on a high note. The Texas Longhorns defense under Chris Ash looks to continue their upward trajectory.

Against Iowa State, the defense was able to limit the big plays from Breece Hall and the offense for most of the game. When they needed to make a play the offense was able to drive the field after the offense failed to keep the ball from the Cyclones. Another effort from the defense like that and the Longhorns should be in a much better position with Kansas State.

The Wildcats offense does have a few players to key on, led by freshman running back Deuce Vaughn. Can the Longhorns defense force fellow freshman quarterback Will Howard into a few mistakes in the game?

Texas safety B.J. Foster ‘apologetic’ for his actions during UTEP game

Following the report that Texas safety B.J. Foster quit the team on Saturday, Tom Herman provided an update on his status with the team.

The last 48 hours have been a roller coaster for the Texas Longhorns and safety B.J. Foster. It was reported on Sunday morning by Anwar Richardson of Rivals that Foster quit the team in the third quarter of the Longhorns 59-3 win over UTEP. According to Pro Football Focus, Foster played just eight snaps on the night. In a bit of frustration, he allegedly quit the team. That was just the beginning of the roller coaster.

It was later reported by Chip Brown of 247Sports that Foster was in fact with the team during a lifting session at 12 pm Sunday. That was enough to cause a bit of confusion about what the status of B.J. Foster is with the team. Richardson later reported that he had met with the team and would remain a Texas Longhorn.

Head coach Tom Herman met with the media on Monday and provided an update on the former five-star recruit.

“B.J (Foster) obviously let his frustrations get the best of him,” Herman continued “was very contrite, very apologetic. We will handle the discipline in house. He knows what he did was wrong and let his frustration get the best of him. It’s ok to be frustrated but we need to be able to control our actions.” Herman went on to say “it would be water under the bridge for us and this team.”
