Georgia football commit bumped from 4-star to 5-star by 247Sports

Georgia football had a commit boosted from 4 to 5-stars by 247Sports.

On Tuesday, 247Sports put in its final rankings for the nation’s top 32 prospects, boosting a Georgia commit from 41st overall to 30th.

In the 247 rankings, Jones is officially a 5-star prospect and is the No. 3 offensive tackle in America and No. 4 prospect in Georgia.

Jones, a 6-5, 300 pounder out of Lithonia, Georgia has been committed to Georgia since April of 2018.

Despite his longtime commitment, he was not comfortable signing with Georgia during the early. Former UGA offensive line coach Sam Pittman’s departure for Arkansas likely had something to do with Jones keeping his recruitment open.

Jones was in Athens this past weekend, along with a plethora of elite recruits.

Following his visit, he posted on Twitter about what a great time he had and how he is still committed to the Dawgs.

He plans on visiting Auburn next weekend, Georgia’s biggest threat.

Four of those 5-stars utilized the early signing period to make things official. However, offensive tackle Broderick Jones decided to wait it out and will sign during the regular signing period which begins on February 5th.

Jones, a 6-5, 300 pounder out of Lithonia, Georgia, ranks as the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect and has been committed to Georgia since April of 2018.

Will Carroll be the next back at UGA? He announced his latest edition of his top schools today:

Carroll’s top eight of Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Penn State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Mississippi State was SEC heavy. He’s now trimmed Mississippi State, Tennessee, Alabama and Penn State from the list. He added the South Carolina Gamecocks to the mix as well.

Perhaps the 2021 RB wants to stay close to home? Regardless, Carroll will play against top competition in his time at IMG Academy.

Georgia’s class of 2021 features a mere two commits at the moment. The Dawgs will look to add numerous commits to both their 2020 and 2021 classes. For now, Kirby Smart and company are focusing more on filling up the remainder of the 2020 class, which is in the top five of classes nationwide. UGA has one RB signed in the class of 2020 in Kendall Milton.

Georgia football offers five-star Tommy Brockermeyer, make his top six

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a football scholarship to 2021 five-star recruit Tommy Brockermeyer of All-Saints Episcopal High School.

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to 2021 five-star recruit Tommy Brockermeyer. Brockermeyer plays high school football for All-Saints Episcopal. He’s from Forth Worth, Texas.

Kirby Smart and his staff are hitting the recruiting trails hard for the class of 2021, which has been offered numerous scholarships in recent weeks. Georgia will look to close out the class of 2020 with a strong National Signing Day this February.

When UGA offered Brockermeyer he immediately added the Dawgs to his top schools:

Brockermeyer is the third-rated recruit in his class per 247sports. The 6’6″ 285lbs five-star offensive tackle put the Alabama Crimson Tide, the LSU Tigers, the Auburn Tigers, the Clemson Tigers, and the Texas Longhorns in his top schools this December:

Now, UGA is joining the mix. Brockermeyer is rated as the best offensive tackle in his class.

Georgia misses out on elite safety; chooses Auburn

Georgia football lost a recruiting battle with Auburn for Eric Reed.

Georgia has a had another stellar Early Signing Day.

Most things have gone Georgia’s way, however, the Bulldogs did just lose a recruiting battle with Auburn and Gus Malzahn for 4-star safety Eric Reed.

Reed, the nation’s 175th overall player out of Shreveport, Louisiana, chose Auburn over Georgia and LSU.

The 6’1” 197 pound DB would have been a nice one to get, especially with Georgia losing J.R. Reed and possibly Richard LeCounte.

Luckily for Georgia, the Dawgs were able to pull off a big commitment from a different 4-star safety out of Louisiana, Major Burns, who signed today.

Report: Georgia tried to get 5-star commit to sign today; wants to visit Auburn first

Georgia football wanted 5-star OT to sign on Early Signing Day, but he wants to visit Auburn first.

According to a report from Chad Simmons of Rivals, one of Georgia’s top commits does not plan on signing in the Early Signing Period.

Broderick Jones, a 5-star offensive tackle who has been committed to Georgia since April of 2018, is the nation’s No. 19 overall player and 2nd ranked OT.

Out of Lithonia, Georgia, Jones is a 6-5, 275 pounder who possesses great length for the position.

According to Simmons, Georgia tried to get Jones to sign, sending him the papers needed on the first day of the early period, but Jones wants to take his time.

Simmons reports that Jones will visit both Auburn and Georgia in January.

Jones visited Auburn twice in the month of November.

Georgia football among DE Jeremiah Alexander’s top three

The Georgia Bulldogs made the top three to 2022 defensive end Jeremiah Alexander. Alexandes’s top three are LSU, Bama and UGA.

Alexander is picking between the three biggest powerhouses in the SEC at the moment: LSU, Alabama, and Georgia. Alexander would be an excellent fit an any other these schools with his excellent burst off the edge.

Georgia currently doesn’t have a commitment in the class of 2022. Despite this, the Dawgs have a very young commit from the class of 2023 in Treyaun Webb.

In 2020 SEC recruiting news, Auburn has boosted their class big-time following their win over Alabama. Georgia still needs to add around ten commitments to their 2020 class.

Hunter committed to Auburn following the Tigers’ massive upset victory over their rival Alabama in the Iron Bowl. The Crimson Tide, Georgia, and a bunch of other SEC schools were among the top teams in the race for Hunter.

Georgia currently has a small class of 2021, but has a top-five ranked class of 2020. In Hunter, Auburn is getting another potential Derrick Brown or Marlon Davidson. Hunter is extremely talented and has excellent size.
