Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 4, Braves 3

Moneyline

BET METS (-110).

While Lopez has been an All-Star caliber starter for the Braves, they have lost 3 of his last 4 starts. Atlanta is just 3-7 in its last 10 games, including 1-6 in the last 7, and the Braves are 2-3 in their last 5 road games. They have scored 4 runs or fewer in each of their last 6 games while the Mets have scored 8 or more in 2 of their last 4.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

There is no value on the run line is this matchup.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-115).

Both Lopez and Peterson have low ERAs and do well at limiting runners. The Braves have scored 4 or fewer runs in each of their last 6 games while the Mets have scored 4 or fewer runs in 6 of their last 9 games. Expect a slower game due to top pitchers.

After winning the Thursday opener 3-2, the Mets won 8-4 as -125 favorites in the 2nd game of the series Friday as the Over (8) hit.

Mets RHP Kodai Senga looked terrific in his season debut, allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out 9, but exited with a calf strain in the 5th inning. DH J.D. Martinez went 3-for-4 with a grand slam in the 3rd inning, helping the Mets move past the Braves in the NL Wild Card race. Mets 3B Mark Vientos and C Francisco Alvarez also hit long balls for New York, which is 28-26 at Citi Field and 52-51 against the spread (ATS) overall.

Braves RHP Charlie Morton allowed 7 runs (5 earned) in just 2 2/3 IP. Atlanta lost despite getting 2 HRs from RF Adam Duvall and another from DH Marcell Ozuna. The Braves are 24-27 on the road this season and 44-58 ATS overall.

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 6, Braves 4

Moneyline

BET METS (-108).

You’ve got 2 teams going in different directions at the moment. I’m going to ride the momentum with New York, which has won 5 straight and 6 of its 8 games since the All-Star break. Meanwhile, the Braves have lost 6 straight, allowing 6.5 runs per game over that stretch.

Philadelphia is also the highest-scoring team at home on the season at 5.37 runs per game, per Teamrankings.com. It hits .263 and has a 3.31 team ERA at Citizens Bank.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

I’ve got my money on the moneyline, and I’ll stay away from the run line.

Over/Under

PASS.

My lean is the Over as you can tell from my score prediction, but I’m not sold enough to make it my official recommendation. These 2 teams are 10-10 O/U in their last 20 games combined. In their last 10 meetings, they are 4-6 to the Over, and they have split the 1st 2 games of this series.

I lean to the Over because of the pitchers. Megill has allowed at least 3 earned runs in 4 of his last 5 starts; there will be runs scored in this game.

Season series: New York leads 4-3

New York came away with a 3-2 win over Atlanta Thursday while covering as a +107 home underdog. LF Jeff McNeil went 2-for-4 and hit the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th.

Reliever Pierce Johnson was the losing pitcher as Atlanta has lost 5 straight games while the Mets increased their win streak to 4.

Braves at Mets projected starters

RHP Charlie Morton vs. RHP Kodai Senga

Morton (5-5, 3.92 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.22 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 in 103 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 4 K in a 3-2 win over St. Louis Saturday
  • Career vs. New York: 7-6, 3.58 ERA (130 2/3 IP, 52 ER), 1.26 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 across 23 starts and 1 relief appearance

  • Has a career 12-7 record with a 2.98 ERA in 29 starts
  • Career vs. Atlanta: 1-0, 4.50 ERA (6 IP, 3 ER), 4 H 2 BB, 7 K in 1 start

  • Over/Under (O/U): 8 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 4, Braves 3

Moneyline

LEAN METS (-145).

New York enters as the much hotter team, being 7-3 in its last 10 while the Braves are only 3-7 over that same span. The Mets have also won back-to-back games vs. Atlanta, but the teams are 5-5 in their last 10 meetings.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Atlanta should cover here as a +1.5 (-175) underdog, especially with how competitive recent matchups between these squads have been, but the line is set too heavily to risk betting on. Bet on the moneyline and/or total instead.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 8 (-110).

The Under has hit in 2 of New York’s last 3 and is 4-2 in its last 6 games. For Atlanta, the Under is 4-1 in its last 5 on the road and 7-3 in its last 10 overall.

The Under has also hit in each of the last 4 Atlanta-New York meetings.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (52-48) take on the New York Mets (60-43) Wednesday in the opener of a 4-game set at Citi Field at 7:10 p.m. ET Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 3-3

The Braves have been singing to the Creedence Clearwater Revival tune: “Who’ll Stop the Rain?” They were rained out Tuesday and tried to play a doubleheader Wednesday but only got the early 9-4 loss in. Not only are they dealing with the actual downpour, but they are reeling due to injuries after losing 2B Ozzie Albies (wrist) for potentially 8 weeks. DH Marcell Ozuna is doing everything he can with a .412 BA, 4 homers and 5 RBIs over the last 15 days. The Braves have lost 3 straight.

Conversely, the Mets have won 3 straight after pounding the New York Yankees and RHP Gerrit Cole 12-3 Wednesday. SS Francisco Lindor went 3-for-6 with 2 homers and 5 RBIs. Mets 2B Jeff McNeil is also raking at .400 with 4 homers and 8 RBIs the last 7 days.

Braves at Mets projected starters

LHP Chris Sale vs. RHP Luis Severino

Sale (13-3, 2.70 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a league-leading 0.96 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 11.5 K/9 through 110 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 6-3 victory July 14 at San Diego Padres
  • Last start against Mets: Win, 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 8 K in 12-5 home victory Sept. 22, 2021, with Boston Red Sox (his previous starts were in 2018 and 2013)

Severino (7-3, 3.58 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 through 115 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 1-0 victory Saturday at Miami Marlins
  • Last start vs. Braves: No-decision, 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 K in 4-3 home win May 12
  • 3 career starts vs: Atlanta: 1-1, 3.00 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 14 K in 15 IP

Who’s going yard? Here’s a breakdown of today’s best home run props with our top picks. Include the BetMGM bonus code SBWIRE to score a $1,500 first-bet offer.

Braves at Mets odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:55 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline (ML): Braves -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Mets -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
  • Run line (RL)/Against the spread (ATS): Braves -1.5 (+150) | Mets +1.5 (-185)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 7.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

The Braves are fading quickly, but Sale has been unreal. He hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER in his last 7 starts. He’s now the front runner for the NL Cy Young Award (+120 at BetMGM Sportsbook).

The Braves also have a massive advantage in the pen with their 2nd-best 2.95 ERA. The Mets are 18th at 4.12.

That’s why I’m taking the BRAVES -115.

Run line/Against the spread

I don’t like either side of the RL here. But I am feeling LUIS SEVERINO OVER 1.5 WALKS (-125). He has 3, 3, and 2 walks in his last 3 starts against Miami, Washington and Pittsburgh. Those offenses aren’t scaring anyone, but Atlanta’s still can.

Over/Under

It’s slated to be 80 degrees with a 7-mph wind blowing in from left-center. The Braves are 4-6 O/U over the last 10, and the Mets are 6-4. With the wind backing 2 pitchers who have dealt of late, I like the UNDER 7.5 (-115).

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Braves (24-12) take on the New York Mets (18-20) Sunday in the finale of a 3-game set at Citi Field on Sunday Night Baseball at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 3-2

The Braves took won the first 2 games of the series by 4-2 and 4-1 finals and enter Sunday on a 4-game win streak. Saturday was nearly a special day as the team combined for a no-hitter into the 9th inning. That 27th out proved to be elusive, though, as Mets DH J.D. Martinez ruined that with a homer one out shy of the no-no.

The Mets have lost 6 of their last 9 games and are just 9-12 at home. They’ve allowed 3 runs or more in 8 straight games but still own the 4th-best ERA (3.74) in the NL — and 11th in MLB. The offense is where the issue has been as it ranks 8th in the NL and 16th in MLB with 4.3 runs per game. 1B Pete Alonso is starting to heat up a bit, hitting .308 with a homer, 2 doubles and 4 RBIs in his last 4 games.

Braves at Mets projected starters

RHP Bryce Elder vs. RHP Luis Severino

Elder (1-1, 5.28 ERA) makes his 4th start. He has a 1.76 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9 and 5.9 K/9 in 15 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 3 1/3 IP, 7 ER, 7 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 11-2 setback at Los Angeles Dodgers May 4
  • Career starts vs. Mets: 2-0, 3.97 ERA (11 1/3 IP 5 ER), 0.97 WHIP, 2 HR, 5 BB, 11 K in 2 outings, both last season

Severino (2-2, 2.93 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.18 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 40 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 6 BB, 6 K in 7-6, 10-inning loss at Tampa Bay Rays May 5
  • Career vs. Braves: 1-1, 2.70 ERA (10 IP, 3 ER), 1.40 WHIP, 2 HR, 5 BB, 10 K in 2 starts, including a 5-0 road loss (5 IP, 3 ER) with Yankees last season

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Mets 5, Braves 4

Moneyline

It seems like when a team is no-hit, or narrowly escapes it, its bats come out blazing the next game. While I don’t really expect the Mets’ lumber to incinerate, I do think they avoid the sweep. If Severino can avoid walking the ballpark like he did in his last start, he’ll keep the Braves at bay.

Take METS (-110).

Run line/Against the spread

The books have handicapped this well. They don’t give much plus-money on the Mets’ ML and juiced up their RL to make insurance negligible.

PASS.

Over/Under

It’s slated to be 53 degrees with a 6-mph gust blowing out. We’ve had 2 Unders cash in this series, including Saturday’s game which was 1 out shy of a no-hitter.

Look for the Mets to take advantage of a starter that has allowed 9 earned runs in his last 2 starts. The Braves are always dangerous at the plate, ranking 4th in the NL and 5th in MLB with 5.0 runs per game.

Take OVER 8 (+100).

The Atlanta Braves (23-12) and New York Mets (18-19) meet for the 2nd game of a 3-game series Saturday. First pitch from Citi Field is set for 4:10 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 2-2

Atlanta has won 3 straight after beating New York 4-2 in Friday’s series opener while cashing as a -148 road favorite. The Braves hit 3 HRs and jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the 3rd inning.

New York had only 4 hits to Atlanta’s 7 and 8 total bases to Atlanta’s 16. LHP Jose Quintana picked up the loss, allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks with 3 K’s in 5 innings. Friday’s victory ended a 2-game win streak for the Mets.

Braves at Mets projected starters

LHP Max Fried vs. RHP Christian Scott

Fried (2-1, 4.23 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.15 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 in 38 1/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 7 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 7 K in 5-1 setback at Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

BET BRAVES (-155).

Atlanta has won 3 consecutive games, while New York has lost 4 of its last 6. The Braves are also 2-1 in their last 3 matchups vs. the Mets overall and 3-1 in the last 4 meetings in New York.

Be aware that the Braves are only 2-5 in their last 7 road games.

Run line/Against the spread

BET METS +1.5 (-135).

Four of the last 8 matchups between these teams have finished with a 1-run margin, and 2 of the last 3 of those instances ended with the Mets taking the loss.

With both teams being equally hot and the recent series between these squads being so close, this is a very safe bet.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 7.5 (-115).

The Under has hit in 4 consecutive games for Atlanta and is 8-1-1 in its last 10 games. For New York, the Under is 2-1 in its last 3 games overall and is 5-1 in its last 6 at home. The Under has also hit in 2 of the last 3 Atlanta-New York matchups in Queens.

The Atlanta Braves (22-12) take on the New York Mets (18-18) Friday in the opener of a 3-game set at Citi Field at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mets lead 2-1

The Braves were idle Thursday after taking both games at home against the Boston Red Sox Tuesday and Wednesday. They took Wednesday’s tilt 5-0 as DH Marcell Ozuna sent 2 into the seats and had 4 RBI. He leads the majors with 12 homers and 38 RBI.

The Mets were rained out in St. Louis Wednesday but took both games against the Cardinals. They came back Tuesday from an early 3-0 hole with 6 runs in the 5th. OF Brandon Nimmo and 1B Pete Alonso each homered and drove in 3 runs.

RHP Charlie Morton vs. LHP Jose Quintana

Morton (2-0, 3.50 ERA) makes his 7th start. The rookie has a 1.14 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 in 36 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 5 K last Friday against Los Angeles Dodgers
  • April 8 vs. Mets: No-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 5 BB, 4 K in 8-7 loss

Quintana (1-3, 5.20 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.54 WHIP, 4.0 BB/9 and 6.2 K/9 in 36 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 2 1/3 IP, 8 ER, 10 H, 1 BB, 2 K last Friday in 10-8 loss against Tampa Bay Rays
  • April 11 vs. Braves: Win, 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K in 16-4 win
  • Last 5 starts vs. Braves: 1-4, 5.06 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 20 K in 26 2/3 IP

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 3

Moneyline

The Braves are taking this game. Quintana is not missing enough bats at this stage of his career, and he has allowed 8 ER in 10 2/3 IP in his last 2 starts against Atlanta.

It’s more feasible to take the RL, though.

Instead, I’m going MARCELL OZUNA OVER 1.5 HITS+RUNS+RBIs. He hit safely in all 3 previous games against the Mets, but he only had 2+ total bases in 1 of them. So that’s why we’re avoiding his total bases prop.

Run line/Against the spread

The Braves are just 4-6 over the last 10, but 3 of those were by multiple runs – including the last 2 against Boston. Atlanta is tied for 3rd with 5.1 R/game.

Take BRAVES -1.5 (+110).

Over/Under

The Over is just 1-8-1 in Atlanta’s last 10, and the Mets are 4-6. When playing one another, the Over is 6-4 in the last 10. All 3 games in Atlanta went Over this number earlier this season.

It’s slated to be a chilly, 50 degrees with a 10-mph gust coming in from right-center. It won’t matter, though, this is going OVER 8 (-120).

The Atlanta Braves (75-41) and New York Mets (52-65) meet Sunday for the finale of a 4-game series. First pitch from Citi Field is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 8-1

Atlanta won game 1 of Saturday’s doubleheader vs. New York 21-3 as a -218 road favorite and won game 2 Saturday 6-0 as a -233 road favorite. 1B Matt Olson hit 2 homers in Game 1 and now leads MLB with 42 HR. RHP Spencer Strider tossed 7 scoreless innings with 6 K’s in the nightcap.

The Braves have won 3-straight and are 6-4 in their last 10 overall and 38-21 on the road this season. New York has lost 3 straight and is 2-8 in its last 10 overall while slipping to 28-27 at home on the year.

Braves at Mets projected starters

RHP Yonny Chirinos vs. RHP Kodai Senga

Chorinos (5-4, 4.83 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.32 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 5.2 K/9 through 76 1/3 IP for the Braves and Tampa Bay Rays.

  • Last start: No-decision, 5 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 5 K in an 8-6 road win Tuesday vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Career vs. New York: Win, 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K in a relief appearance on the road May 16

Senga (8-6, 3.24 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.30 WHIP, 4.4 BB/9 and 11.0 K/9 through 116 2/3 IP.

  • Last start: Win, 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 6 K in an 11-2 home win Monday vs. Chicago Cubs

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 8, Mets 3

Moneyline

BET BRAVES (-135).

The Braves are the much hotter team and have dominated the Mets in recent meetings, winning 6 straight and 8 of 9 this season. Atlanta is also a dominant road team whereas New York is a mediocre home team. All signs point to the Braves being able to complete the sweep.

Run line/Against the spread

BET BRAVES -1.5 (+125).

Only 1 of the last 10 meetings between these teams ended with a 1-run margin, so odds are it won’t happen here. I expect the Braves to win comfortably considering how hot the Braves are and how they have dominated the Mets, especially after routing New York in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 9.5 (-115).

The Over is 7-3 in Atlanta’s last 10 overall and 5-0 in each of Chirinos’ last 5 starts.

This is only a lean because the Over/Under is 5-5 in the Mets’ last 10 games and the Under has hit in 5 of the 9 meetings between the clubs this year. The run line and moneyline are much safer bets for this game.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Braves (72-41) and New York Mets (52-62) begin a 4-game series at Citi Field Friday. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 5-1

The Braves fell 7-5 Thursday as they slipped to 3-4 through 7 games of an 11-game road trip. Atlanta has outscored its opponents 43-39 over that span despite the losing record. Atlanta is 22-6 against the NL East this season.

New York kicked off a 10-game homestand by taking 2 of 3 games against the Chicago Cubs, including a 4-3 win Wednesday. They have been outscored by the Braves 42-32 across 6 games this season. The Mets are 29-24 at Citi Field on the season and are 20 1/2 games back of the Braves in the division.

Braves at Mets projected starters

RHP Charlie Morton vs. RHP Tylor Megill

Morton (10-10, 3.86 ERA) will make his 23rd start. He has a 1.44 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 in 123 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 4 K in 6-4 road loss vs. Chicago Cubs Sunday
  • 2023 away splits: 5-5, 3.82 ERA (61 1/3 IP, 26 ER), .269 OBA in 11 starts
  • 2023 vs. Mets: 0-1, 7.20 ERA (10 IP, 8 ER), 1.70 WHIP in 2 starts

Megill (6-5, 5.45 ERA) will make his 17th start. He has a 1.68 WHIP, 4.6 BB/9 and 7.2 K/9 in 76 innings.

  • Last start: Loss, 4 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 0 BB, 3 K in 7-3 road loss vs. Baltimore Orioles Saturday

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 4, Mets 3

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Braves (-175) should bounce back in this game against their division rivals. They have owned the Mets this season but I don’t want to put more than a unit and a half to win back one.

Run line/Against the spread

BET METS +1.5 (-110).

While I predicted Atlanta to win the game, I am not confident they will cover the spread.

McGill has not lost a start at Citi Field since May 6th while Morton has been knocked around for 9 earned runs over his last 8 road innings pitched. Those trends tell me to jump on New York in this one.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

BET OVER 9.5 (-110).

These two teams have gone over this run total in 4 of their last 5 meetings. Morton and McGill have allowed at least 4 earned runs in 3 of their last 4 starts.

Atlanta averages the 2nd most runs scored per game on the road in the MLB (5.40). The Braves have also scored 7 runs per game on average against the Mets this season.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Atlanta Braves at New York Mets Game 1 odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Braves (18-9) and New York Mets (15-12) meet for a doubleheader Monday as they wrap up a truncated 3-game series. First pitch for Game 1 from Citi Field is set for 1:10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 1-0

This was originally supposed to be a 4-game series, but Saturday’s and Sunday’s games were postponed due to rain. Monday was originally supposed to be the finale of the 4-game set and now features a doubleheader with a makeup of Sunday’s game. Saturday’s game will be made up later in the season.

Atlanta won 4-0 as a -132 road favorite Friday in a series opener that was called after the 5th inning due to rain. All 4 of the Braves’ runs came in that final inning thanks to an RBI single by OF Ronald Acuna Jr. and a 3-run home run by 1B Matt Olson. Atlanta has won 4 of its last 5 after dropping 4 straight games from April 21-23.

New York is on a cold streak, losing 5 of its last 6 including a 4-game losing skid from Apr. 22-26. The Braves have more runs (138-122), hits (231-213), home runs (41-27), and a better batting average (.255-.240) than the Mets so far this season. Atlanta also has an edge in pitching, with a team ERA almost 1 full run better than New York’s team ERA (3.37-4.36) and with 251 strikeouts to New York’s 230.

Braves at Mets starters

RHP Spencer Strider vs. RHP Denyi Reyes

Strider (3-0, 1.80 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 0.83 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 14.7 K/9 through 30 IP.

  • Last start vs. New York was Aug. 15, 2022: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 4 K in a 13-1 win
  • Went 5-4 with a 3.25 ERA, 61 IP, 41 H, 22 ER, 24 BB, and 88 K in 10 starts and 5 relief appearances on the road last season

Reyes (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his 1st start and 6th appearance. He has a 0.79 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 9.9 K/9 through 6 1/3 IP.

  • Has just one previous career start on May 28, 2022, at the Boston Red Sox with 3 2/3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and 2 K as a member of the Baltimore Orioles
  • Is 0-0 with 0 ER, 2 H, 0 B and 3 K in 2 relief appearances at home this season

Braves at Mets picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 6, Mets 2

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Braves (-250) should be able to win this game but they are far too heavy of a favorite, especially as the away team, to wager on. The risk here is not worth the reward.

Run line/Against the spread

BET BRAVES -1.5 (-165).

The Braves have been the hotter team recently and beat the Mets by multiple runs in the series opener Friday. Only 1 of the last 10 meetings between these clubs was a 1-run game, a 3-2 Braves win on Aug. 18, 2022. The Braves are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings, meaning they consistently beat the Mets and do so by at least 2 runs.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 8.5 (-110).

Only 2 of the last 10 meetings have eclipsed 8.5 total runs and the Over/Under has been pretty even in recent matchups between these teams.

The Over is 5-4-1 in the last 10 meetings but the Under is safer here because matchups between these teams, at least recently, have rarely eclipsed the 8.5 total run mark.
