St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (35-35) visit Truist Park Saturday for the third game of their four-game series with the Atlanta Braves (32-35).  First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Braves odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Atlanta has owned St. Louis through the first two games of the series, winning both by a combined score of 13-1 with nine extra-base hits.

Season series: Braves lead 2-0.

RHP Adam Wainwright is on the mound for the Cardinals. Wainwright is 4-5 with a 3.95 ERA (79 2/3 IP, 35 ER), 1.14 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 8.2 K/9 over 13 starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision with 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB and 6 K in St. Louis’s 4-2 victory over the Miami Marlins Monday.
  • vs. Braves on the current roster: 126 at-bats with a .286/.366/.373 slash line, 30/16 K/BB, 0 HR and 9 RBIs.

LHP Drew Smyly makes his 12th start for the Braves. Smyly is 3-3 with a 5.63 ERA (56 IP, 35 ER), 1.41 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 6-4, with 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB and 6 K Sunday at the Marlins.
  • vs. Cardinals on the current roster: 7 at-bats with a .286/.444/.429 slash line, 1/2 K/BB, 0 HR and 2 RBIs.

Cardinals at Braves odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:49 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Cardinals -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Braves -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Cardinals +1.5 (-185) | Braves -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Cardinals 6, Braves 4

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the CARDINALS (-105) because Smyly’s advanced pitching numbers are even uglier than his basic stat line and St. Louis’s lineup hits lefties as well as Atlanta’s hits righties.

For instance, Smyly grades in the 23rd percentile or worse in K%, whiff rate, exit velocity, hard-hit rate, expected opponent’s wOBA and expected slugging percentage this season.

Additionally, the Cardinals are eighth in wRC+, 11th in wOBA, and fourth in BB/K rate vs. left-handed pitching, and a 10-5 record against lefty starters.

Furthermore, Wainwright is a cagey vet who’s faired well historically against reigning Braves MVP Freddie Freeman and hasn’t allowed a hit against superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. in his seven career plate appearances.

Also, there’s some heavy reverse line movement as Atlanta opened as a -130 money line favorite and has been moved down to the current number despite getting only a slight majority of the action thus far.

It’s only a “LEAN” to the CARDINALS (-105) for a half unit because the Braves have been raking in their last four home games and they should start piling wins as we get into the dog days of the summer.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

“LEAN” to the CARDINALS +0.5 (-130) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a half unit since we are getting a fair price on a half-run worth of insurance in a starting pitching matchup that favors St. Louis.

Plus we can hopefully avoid having to sweat the Cardinals relievers holding a lead since the St. Louis bullpen is dead-last in K-BB%, xFIP and SIERA.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. I’m more confident in St. Louis’s lineup in this spot rather than Wainwright on the mound and I could see the Cardinals having to win a slugfest.

Also, with St. Louis’s weak bullpen, the Over could “sneak in the backdoor” if the Cardinals rake Smyly and use their less effective relievers in a 7-0 (or so) game.

Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Red Sox at Atlanta Braves odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Boston Red Sox (41-27) and Atlanta Braves (30-34) wrap up their season series Wednesday night with their fourth meeting of the year. First pitch from Truist Park will be at 7:20 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Red Sox vs. Braves odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Garrett Richards is the projected starting pitcher for the Red Sox. He is 4-4 with a 4.09 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 and 4.4 BB/9 in 70 1/3 IP over 13 starts.

Richards allowed four runs on 11 hits in just 5 1/3 innings in his last outing against the Blue Jays on Friday, struggling against Toronto’s powerful lineup.

The Red Sox are 5-2 in his seven six starts, scoring at least six runs in five of those games. He is 0-1 with a 2.31 ERA in two career starts against Atlanta.

RHP Ian Anderson is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 4-3 with a 3.26 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9 in 66 1/3 IP over 12 starts.

Anderson pitched seven shutout innings in his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies, the fourth time this season he’s pitched at least six innings without allowing a run.

The Braves have lost three consecutive starts by Anderson, however. In his only career start against the Red Sox, Anderson allowed two runs in six innings, earning the win.

Red Sox at Braves odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:39 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Red Sox +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Braves -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Red Sox +1.5 (-150) | Braves -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Braves 4

Money line (ML)

The Red Sox have won their last two games against the Braves, including a 10-8 victory on Tuesday. It’s their sixth win in the last 10 games, while Atlanta has dropped five of its last six.

I like the RED SOX (+135) at plus money on the road, where they are 21-10 on the year.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Boston is 38-30 ATS this season, which compares favorably to the Braves’ 27-37 ATS record. Boston is 18-10 as an underdog this season and has scored 19 total runs in its last two games against Atlanta.

The RED SOX +1.5 (-150) doesn’t come with the value that the money line does, but it protects against a close one-run game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total has gone Over in five of the Red Sox’s last seven games and in each of the last two meetings between Boston and Atlanta.

Both teams possess powerful lineups, led by the likes of Ronald Acuna Jr., Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers.

Give me the OVER 9 (-120).

Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Miami Marlins (28-35) host the Atlanta Braves (29-32) for the second game of their three-game set at loanDepot park Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Marlins odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Miami won the first game of this series 4-3 to extend Atlanta’s losing streak to three games. SS Jazz Chisholm was the standout for the Marlins Friday, hitting 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Season series: Marlins lead 4-1.

LHP Max Fried is on the mound for the Braves. Fried is 3-3 with a 4.63 ERA (44 2/3 IP, 23 ER), 1.48 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 9.1 K/9 across 9 starts.

  • Last outing: Win, 4-2, in 6 IP with 1 ER, 6 H, 0 BB and 4 K vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday.
  • Fried lost vs. the Marlins on April 13 with 4 IP, 7 ER, 9 H, 2 BB and 3 K in Miami’s 14-8 victory.
  • vs. Marlins on the current roster: 93 at-bats with a .355/.413/.656 slash line, 19/7 K/BB, 6 HR and 20 RBIs.

RHP Zach Thompson makes his second major league start for the Marlins. Thompson took a loss at Boston Monday with 3 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, and 1 K in his first career start as the Red Sox won 5-3.

MLB betting offers/promotions

Braves at Marlins odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:59 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves -165 (bet $165 to win $100) | Marlins +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves -1.5 (+100) | Marlins +1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Marlins 6, Braves 4

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to the MARLINS (+140) for a quarter unit because Miami +1.5 (-120) is a strong play and the Marlins have a much better pitching staff.

For instance, Miami’s bullpen is top-10 in xFIP, SIERA and WAR whereas Atlanta’s is below-average in all of those categories.

The Braves (-165) are overpriced because they are a public favorite, Fried is coming off a stellar 2020 campaign, and he had a winning quality start against the Dodgers in his last appearance.

However, besides his last start, Fried is in the midst of a disappointing 2021 and he’s gotten drilled by the Marlins throughout his young career.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET the MARLINS +1.5 (-120) heavier than or instead of Miami’s money line because of the aforementioned reasons and the presumed “sharp” side of the market is backing the Marlins’ run line big time.

According to Pregame.com, 90% of the money is on Miami’s run line but 55% of the bets placed are on Atlanta’s run line and typically it’s wiser to follow the money when it’s opposite of the crowd.

Furthermore, the Marlins have a winning home record, the Braves have a losing road record, and Atlanta are just 5-9 ATS as a road favorite with a minus-2.5 run line margin.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a slight “lean” toward the Over but the total is ticking up because the market is barreling into the Over and I don’t want to follow a crowd of people into what could be a trap bet.

Fried is having an off-year but the Braves are 3-5 O/U in his starts and you could make an argument that Thompson making his second career start is to his advantage vs. Atlanta because its lineup doesn’t have familiarity with his stuff.

Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (29-31) and Miami Marlins (27-35) will begin a three-game series Friday night at loanDepot Park, with first pitch coming at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Marlins odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Charlie Morton is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 5-2 with a 4.21 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 62 IP over 12 starts.

The Braves are 4-1 in Morton’s last five starts, a span in which he hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a single outing. His last time out, he had 5 IP, allowing 2 ER, while recording 5 K and 1 BB in a 6-4 Braves win vs. the Dodgers Saturday. The Braves have scored at least four runs in four of his last five starts.

RHP Sandy Alcantara is the projected starting pitcher for the Marlins. He is 3-5 with a 3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 and 2.5 BB/9 in 79 IP over 13 starts.

Despite some strong outings by Alcantara recently, the Marlins are just 2-3 in his last five starts. His last start, he allowed 0 ER in 8 IP with 6K and 2 BB in the Marlins’ 3-1 win at Pittsburgh Sunday. In his career against the Braves, he’s 0-0 with a 2.88 ERA in four starts.

MLB betting offers/promotions

Braves at Marlins odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:31 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves -130 (bet $130 to win $100) | Marlins +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves -1.5 (+135) | Marlins +1.5 (-160)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Braves 5, Marlins 3

Money line (ML)

The Braves dropped two of three to the Phillies this week, but they’re still 4-3 in their last seven games – which compares favorably to the Marlins’ 3-7 stretch in the last 10. Alcantara has been pitching well, but he hasn’t received the best run support from the Marlins.

I like the BRAVES (-130) to win outright tonight with Morton on the mound and the offense looking to bounce back from a lull in the last two games.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

In their last 10 games, the Braves have covered the spread seven times. While they’ve been excellent against the spread lately, their ATS record still sits at only 26-34 this season.

Though I’d much rather bet on the money line, I’d give a slight lean toward the BRAVES -1.5 (+135) tonight on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Braves have scored the ninth-most runs per game this season, which compares favorably to the Marlins who are just 23rd. The total has only gone Over in four of the Braves’ last 10, and in six of the Marlins’ 10 most recent games.

Give me the OVER 7.5 (-110) tonight, but only make it a small wager.

Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (29-30) and Philadelphia Phillies (29-31) close out a three-game series Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET at Citizens Bank Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Phillies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Ian Anderson is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 4-3 with a 3.64 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 9.9 K/9, and 3.8 BB/9 in 59 1/3 IP over 11 starts.

Anderson has yielded eight runs in his last 8 1/3 IP, but he’s been undone mostly by rates around the margins (batting average on balls in play, left-on-base rate, etc.). He has already faced Philadelphia three times this season (4.41 ERA in 16 IP).

RHP Zack Wheeler is the projected starter for the Phillies. He is 4-3 with a 2.51 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 10.9 K/9, and 2.0 BB/9 in 82 1/3 IP over 12 starts.

Wheeler owns a nifty 2.08 ERA (with a 14.9% swinging-strike rate) over his last five turns. He’s posted a sub-2.25 ERA in four starts against Atlanta the last two seasons.

Braves at Phillies odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 2:54 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Phillies -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves +1.5 (-175) | Phillies -1.5 (+145)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Prediction

Braves 4, Phillies 3

Money line (ML)

The Phillies have fallen off since playing well over the front half of May. Heading into Wednesday night, they were 7-13 since May 15.

Right-handers swing the Phillies around to their worst platoon splits (.680 OPS). Wheeler is coming off back-to-back 100-pitch games and has been a bit batting-average-on-balls-in-play fortunate of late (.275 BABIP for the season).

BACK THE BRAVES (+115).

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Stick with the ML play on the Braves; PASS on the added juice here.

Over/Under (O/U)

Atlanta on the road is a lesser brand of offense (.699 OPS). Add in some upside faith in both bullpens, then mix in a low-humidity, wind-in-from-right get-away day. BACK THE UNDER 7.5 (+100).

Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves odds, picks and prediction odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Washington Nationals (21-29) fell to the Atlanta Braves (25-26) on Monday and will look to bounce back Tuesday at 7:20 p.m. ET at Truist Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Nationals vs Braves odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Stephen Strasburg is the projected starting pitcher for the Nationals. He is 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 8.9 K/9 and 5.3 BB/9 in 20 1/3 IP over four starts.

Strasburg has made two starts since returning from a shoulder strain, allowing 3 ER in 10 1/3 IP, with a 9/5 K/BB rate.

LHP Max Fried is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 2-2 with a 4.63 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 35 IP over seven starts.

Fried got off to a rough start this season but has given up exactly 1 ER in each of his last four starts. He has faced the Nationals twice already with mixed results that add up to 6 ER in 7 IP with 9 strikeouts.

MLB betting offers/promotions

Nationals at Braves odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 1:02 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nationals +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Braves -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nationals +1.5 (-185) | home -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Braves 5, Nationals 4

Money line (ML)

The strikeouts and velocity for Strasburg are nowhere near his pre-2020 levels. Strasburg is also allowing a lot of hard contact for the second straight year, with a hard-hit rate of 47.3%.

Fried’s skills have slipped as well, and his recent success has been mainly due to an overcorrection on BABIP, from .513 in April to .230 in May.

But, Fried has the better offense supporting him and is facing a team that is 8-14 on the road this year.

Go with the BRAVES (-135) in this one.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Braves have won 14 games at home this season, with six of those coming by just a single run.

Odds are, this will be another pretty close game, and it is probably best to simply PASS on the total and look elsewhere for value.

Over/Under (O/U)

Atlanta has a 17-9-2 O/U record at home this season and this is a matchup of two big-name pitchers who aren’t at their best right now.

Furthermore, the Nationals rank eighth in wRC+ vs lefties, while the Braves are ninth in the category against right-handed pitching.

Neither team is likely to have a huge day, but both should do their part in pushing this total OVER 8.5 (-105).

Money line (ML)

NEW YORK (-125) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Both starting pitchers are coming off solid outings, but a line like this on deGrom, the majors’ ERA leader, is too good pass up.

Plus, Atlanta is without LF Marcell Ozuna, who landed on the injured list Friday with two dislocated fingers. Ozuna led the NL with 18 homers last season. In off-the-field news, the two-time All-Star was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and battery.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Atlanta Braves at New York Mets odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Atlanta Braves (24-25) travel to Flushing, Queens for a three-game set with NL East rival New York Mets (24-20) at Citi Field. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Atlanta is 5-5 in the last 10 games, splitting a two-game miniseries at the Boston Red Sox following a 3-1 series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates and losing a three-game series with New York last week.

The NL East-leading Mets beat the Colorado Rockies in three straight to win their four-game series and are 6-4 in their last 10 games, which included the Rockies, Miami Marlins and Braves.

Season series: Mets 2-1.

RHP Ian Anderson makes his 10th start for the Braves. Anderson is 4-1 with a 2.82 ERA (51 IP, 16 ER), 1.20 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 20-1, in 6 IP with 0 ER, 6 H, 0 BB and 6 K last Friday vs. Pirates.
  • Career vs. Mets: 0-1 with 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 4 BB and 8 K in one start.
    • vs. Mets on the current roster: 13 at-bats with a .000/.235/.000 slash line and 6/4 K/BB.

RHP Taijuan Walker is the projected starter for the Mets. Walker is 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA (44 IP, 10 ER), 0.97 WHIP, 3.7 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 across eight starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 3 IP with 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB and 2 K in New York’s 3-1 win over Atlanta May 17.
  • Career vs. Braves: 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA (15 IP, 3 ER), 0.67 WHIP and 7.2 K/9 over three starts.
    • vs. Braves on the current roster: 34 at-bats with a .235/.308/.412 slash line, 7/3 K/BB, 1 HR and 2 RBIs.

Braves at Mets odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:55 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Mets +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves -1.5 (+110) | Mets +1.5 (-135)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -125 | U: +105)

Prediction

Braves 5, Mets 1

Money line (ML)

I’m willing to BET the BRAVES (-160) for 1 unit at such a large price point despite Atlanta’s up-and-down play this whole year because Anderson has good stuff, and New York’s lineup is in tatters.

For instance, Anderson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft and grades in the 77th percentile of exit velocity and 65th percentile of whiff rate.

Also, in Anderson’s first career start against the Mets, he struck out eight batters and had a 2.33 FIP but gave up a 3-run home run to 2B Robinson Cano, who’s serving a suspension.

In fact, several key New York hitters are out of the lineup such as 1B Pete Alonso, 3B J.D. Davis, 2B Jeff McNeil, OF Brandon Nimmo and OF Michael Conforto.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

“LEAN” to the BRAVES -1.5 (+110) for a half unit as I wouldn’t hate betting Atlanta’s run line instead of the money line, but I prefer Braves outright because their bullpen 19th in WAR and 24th in xFIP.

However, that daunting Atlanta lineup was underperforming through the first seven weeks of the season and is starting to round into form.

Over the past two weeks, the Braves hitters are fourth in both WAR and wRC+ and second in wRC+.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” UNDER 6.5 (+105) for a half unit because if this game is played it’ll be in crappy weather conditions, which I think favors the pitchers who’ve been solid against these respective lineups.

Furthermore, these teams have a combined 7-10 O/U when these starters are on the mound, Atlanta has played to the Under in six straight as a road favorite, and the Under in Braves-Mets is contrarian to a market where 71% of the money is with the Over, according to Pregame.com.

Atlanta Braves at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Braves at Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

Following their win on Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves (24-24) will take on the Boston Red Sox (29-20) in Game 2 of the series on Wednesday night at Fenway Park. First pitch will be at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Atlanta Braves vs. Boston Red Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Drew Smyly is the projected starting pitcher for the Braves. He is 2-2 with a 5.11 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 8.0 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 37 IP over 7 starts.

Smyly has allowed three or fewer runs in each of his last three starts, striking out 15 batters in his last 18 innings.

In 11 career games (nine starts) against the Red Sox, Smyly is 3-1 with a 2.35 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

RHP Nick Pivetta is the projected starting pitcher for the Red Sox. He is 5-0 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 and 4.5 BB/9 in 47 2/3 IP over 9 starts.

Pivetta hasn’t factored into the decision in his last two starts, allowing four earned runs and two earned runs to the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels, respectively.

He does have 15 strikeouts in his last 11 innings and has only walked two batters in that span. Against the Braves in his career, Pivetta is 5-2 with a 4.74 ERA in 15 games (12 starts).

Atlanta Braves at Boston Red Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Braves +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Red Sox -125 (bet $125 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Braves +1.5 (-185) | Red Sox -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 10.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Red Sox 4, Braves 3

Money line (ML)

The Braves extended their winning streak to four games with a 3-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday night.

But, Boston now has Pivetta on the mound, who’s been the beneficiary of some great run support this year. In Pivetta’s starts, the Red Sox are 8-1 and have scored at least seven runs five times.

I like the RED SOX (-125) to win this one outright tonight.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

In their last 10 games, the Red Sox are now just 4-6 ATS. The Braves are marginally better at 6-4, with a perfect 3-0 ATS mark on the road in their last three.

I’d give a slight lean toward the Braves +1.5 (-185) but stick to the money line for the better upside.

Over/Under (O/U)

Atlanta has allowed one run in each of its last four games, while the Red Sox have allowed exactly three runs in three of their last four.

Smyly has a strong track record against Boston in his career and should be able to put together a quality start.

With the Over/Under set at 10.5 runs, I like the UNDER 10.5 (-115) tonight at Fenway.
