The 15-seed Princeton Tigers (21-8) face the 2-seed Arizona Wildcats (28-6) Thursday in a first round South Region game in the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento is scheduled for approximately 4:10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Princeton vs. Arizona odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Princeton enters the tournament on a 4-game win streak, and has won 7 of its last 9 games with a 7-2 against the spread (ATS) mark, while cashing the Over in 9 of the last 11 contests.

Princeton won and covered in each of its Ivy League Tournament games, while hitting the Over in both outings. And while it matched up well against Penn and Yale, facing Arizona is a whole different animal.

The 3 main forwards for the Tigers – Tosan Evbuomwan, Keeshawn Kellman, and Caden Pierce – are listed at 6-foot-9 or less. The Wildcats have both Azuolas Tubelis (6-foot-11) and Oumar Ballo (7-foot-0) clogging up the middle.

[afflinkbutton text=”Watch Arizona vs Princeton link=”https://sling-tv.pxf.io/KjKy3A”]

Princeton might be forced to try to score from the perimeter, and that’s not really its game. The Tigers hit just 34.2% from behind the arc, which was rather middling by national standards. In addition, the Wildcats limit teams to just 41.0% from the field, and 32.8% from the perimeter.

Arizona averaged 83.1 PPG and 49.3% field-goal percentage on offense, which was ranked in the Top 10 nationally. It also shoots a healthy 37.8% on 3-pointers.

Princeton vs. Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 86, Princeton 67

Moneyline

Arizona (-1200) will cost you 12 times your potential return, and that is not a good betting strategy for either a standalone bet, or part of multi-team parlay. There is just no value betting such heavy favorites straight up.

AVOID.

Against the spread

ARIZONA -14.5 (-110) will have a tremendous size advantage, forcing Princeton +14.5 (-110) outside. Unless Tubelis and/or Ballo get into foul trouble, it’s going to be impossible for the Tigers to get points in or near the paint.

There have been a lot of talking heads saying the legendary Pete Carill style is back at Princeton, but don’t get suckered in. This team is undersized, and overmatched, and the Pac-12 Tournament champs are going to take it to them early and often. It’s actually rather shocking that this line isn’t as high as 20 or so. Take advantage.

Over/Under

UNDER 154.5 (-115) is worth a look, as Princeton is likely to struggle putting points on the board.

While the Over is 9-2 in the last 11 games for the Tigers, that’s against teams or equal or smaller size. Arizona is bigger, stronger and faster, and Princeton will be in a whirlwind in this first-round matchup.

While the Over is 7-3 in the last 10 games overall for the Wildcats, it might take 90 or more points from them to get this game into the Over range. I don’t think the Wildcats run it up on the Tigers, and rag the clock with a large 2nd-half lead instead. The Under is 3-1-2 in the last 6 NCAA Tournament games for Arizona, too.

March Madness: NCAA Tournament South Region odds, picks and predictions

Looking at March Madness futures odds to win the 2023 NCAA Tournament South Region, with expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The NCAA Tournament is set, and the 2nd-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide from the SEC are the No. 1 overall seed in the South Region. It’s the 1st time in school history that Tide are the top overall seed.

Below, we look at Tipico Sportsbook’s NCAA Tournament South Region futures odds and and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The South Region has some heavy hitters, as Pac-12 Tournament champion Arizona is the 2-seed, joined by 3-seed Baylor from the Big 12. Creighton is the 4-seed from the Big East, with 2019 national champ Virginia from the ACC as the 5-seed. Charleston, NC State and San Diego State have also spent time in the Top 25, and they’re in this region as well.

South Region expert pick and prediction

Baylor Bears (+550)

The Bears lost in their 1st game of the Big 12 Tournament against their kryptonite, Iowa State, and it likely dropped them a peg to the 3 line. That’s OK, as this team has been resilient all season, and truthfully, it received a little more much-needed rest.

Baylor has a resume littered with impressive wins after traversing the ultra-competitive Big 12, racking up 22 victories along the way. It has scored wins over a 1-seed, Kansas, while also taking down the likes of Arkansas, Gonzaga, Texas and UCLA. It swept conference member and tournament West Virginia in 2 regular-season meetings, too.

This Baylor team can score plenty, averaging 77.3 points per game (PPG) in the regular season, while hitting 36.8% from behind the arc. It is a solid free-throw shooting team, too, hitting 74.6% from the line, which is key in close games, especially in the NCAA Tournament. Defensively, the Bears could do better, but they’re adequate, especially along the perimeter. Defenses hit just 32.0% from downtown against Baylor.

Things are set up nicely for Baylor, as it should ease by the winner of Creighton-NC State, and it matches up well with Arizona in a potential Sweet Sixteen matchup. I like the team’s experience in a potential matchup with Alabama in the Regional Final, too. At this price, Baylor is the best value in the region.

Top 25: USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

South Region contenders

These 2 teams are worth a futures bet to win the region.

ARIZONA WILDCATS (+450)

The Wildcats are flying high after bumping off rival Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals, before dropping UCLA in an epic Pac-12 Championship game.

Arizona sports one of the best players in the nation in Azuolas Tubelis, as he averaged 19.9 PPG, 9.2 RPG and 2.0 APG during the regular season, while hitting 57.7% from the field. Oumar Ballo clogs up the paint, too, providing a giant obstacle for the opposition. But he can also score, posting 13.9 PPG, while cleaning the glass at an 8.6 RPG rate. He is very efficient from the field, too, cashing in at 64.5%.

This is a high-flying offense, going for 83.1 PPG, and a defense which limited teams to just 41.0% from the field. That’s a nice combination for success.

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (+180)

There isn’t a ton of value in playing the chalk, as taking ‘Bama to win the South Region will only multiply your initial wager 1.8 times. I also don’t like the distraction of the off-court issues the Crimson Tide have faced, although to date, it hasn’t derailed this team from its goals. Expect plenty of questions, and more noise, however.

Still, the on-court talent cannot be argued. This team rolled to the SEC Tournament title, not only beating 3 NCAA Tournament teams in Mississippi State, Missouri and Texas A&M, but topping each by 11 or more points. Solid offense, and suffocating defense was the name of the game in hoisting the trophy. That was the case all season, as ‘Bama limited teams to just 37.7% from the field, and 28.4% from behind the arc.

This team can beat anybody, and it showed in Houston Dec. 10, but it also has double-digit losses to UConn, Gonzaga and non-tournament team Oklahoma. Arizona and Baylor are better values, but Alabama has the talent to not only win the region, but to have “One Shining Moment/”

South Region long shots

CHARLESTON COUGARS (+7000)

Charleston found itself ranked in the Top 25 earlier this season. Back-to-back regular-season hiccups against Drexel and Hofstra knocked Charleston back a bit, but it also served as a wake-up call. This team enters the NCAA Tournament with 10 straight wins, and a CAA tournament title in tow.

Charleston topped fellow tournament team Kent State earlier in the season, and it can score with the best of them at 81.7 PPG during the regular season, ranking 13th in the nation, according to Covers.com. Defensively, the Cougars did a good job holding teams to just 31.4% from behind the arc. The strength of schedule is a bit of a question, and what likely dropped a 31-win team to a double-digit seed. But a Sweet Sixteen run wouldn’t be shocking, and then you never know what can happen. For a chance to multiply your initial wager by 70, CoC is worth a look.

NC STATE WOLFPACK (+5000)

The Wolfpack are one of those teams which would make a deep run into the NCAA Tournament, or could easily bow out in the 1st round. They’ve been hard to figure, but NC State certainly has the tools to be successful.

D.J. Burns Jr., Jarkel Joiner and Terquavion Smith are a solid 3-headed monster, with Casey Morsell capable of filling up the basket as well, especially from long range. Burns brings the swagger, and he is solid on the glass, which showing nice touch around the rim. Jack Clark is also a nice complementary piece.

The Wolfpack have enough talent to give Creighton, Baylor, and even Arizona, some trouble in the South Region. We’ve seen double-digit seeds go deep into the tourney in recent years, and NC State has a solid array of plays to make a lot of noise.

Pac-12 Tournament: Arizona vs. UCLA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Arizona vs. UCLA odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 9 Arizona Wildcats (27-6) will look to defeat the depleted No. 2 UCLA Bruins (29-4) in the Pac-12 Tournament Championship in Las Vegas Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arizona vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

These have been the 2 best teams in the Pac-12 all season. So it is fitting they have a chance to meet for a 3rd time in the tournament finals to decide the champion.

The teams have played 2 entirely different games this season with Arizona winning the 1st meeting in a defensive showing 58-52 while UCLA won the rematch in Los Angeles 82-73 in a more offensive focused game.

With injuries to key players for UCLA in recent games, the Bruins will be without elite defender Jaylen Clark for the season. This will make it difficult to beat a top-10 Arizona team playing at full strength. It also may cost them a chance to win a National Championship.

Arizona vs. UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 80, UCLA 72

Moneyline

LEAN ARIZONA -110.

While normally I would wager the Underdog here when I like them to win outright, UCLA is a different favorite than most.

Although it is dealing with injuries, UCLA is still talented enough to win this game. Hence while it is favored despite the issues it is having. I still see Arizona being able to pull this game off. But in this instance, I will use the extra 1.5 points of comfort and bet on the spread rather than the ML. But a sprinkle on the Arizona ML is not a bad play either.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

Take ARIZONA +1.5 (-120).

Arizona has been able to cover the spread in 8 of its last 10 games against a team with a win percentage above .600.

With Clark out for the season, UCLA will have  a difficult time in defending the Wildcats, and this will allow Arizona to outscore the Bruins.

UCLA came down the stretch with so much promise. But injuries have derailed their hopes of a Pac-12 Championship, and more importantly for coach Cronin, a national championship. This should still be a competitive game, but the wrong team is favored. I will take the 1.5 points with Arizona.

Over/Under

OVER 147.5 (-115)

If both teams were at full strength, this would be an Under play. With the Bruins missing its best defender, this will allow the Wildcats to use its offense, which ranks 5th at 83.1 points to put up points against a UCLA defense that ranks 7th at 60.1 points.

This game will turn into a shootout as Arizona scores, and UCLA will be forced to keep up.

This game could easily hit 170. But at 147.5, the Over is a great value.

Pac-12 Tournament: Arizona State vs. Arizona odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Arizona State vs. Arizona odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Arizona State Sun Devils (22-11) square off with the No. 9 Arizona Wildcats (26-6) for the 3rd time this season Friday. Tip for the semifinal matchup in the Pac-12 Tournament at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is at 11:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arizona State vs. Arizona odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Arizona State enters the game on a 2-game win streak after beating USC 77-72 Thursday in the quarterfinals. The Sun Devils have already beaten the Wildcats once this season, an 89-88 victory as 12.5-point underdogs on Feb. 25.

This game has even more meaning as an improbable win could result in a trip to March Madness.

The Wildcats were 3-3 over the final 6 games of the regular season but knocked off Stanford 95-84 as 10-point favorites in the quarterfinals Thursday.

A victory here lands the Sun Devils or the Wildcats in the finals against the winner of the Oregon vs. UCLA semifinal to be played prior to this game Friday.

Arizona State vs. Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 83, Arizona State77

Moneyline

PASS.

Although Arizona State won the last meeting, it took a buzzer-beater miracle to do so. This game should not be as close and a buzzer beater will not be in order.

Arizona (-350) is getting primed for a possible Final Four run but this will be a tough rivalry game and you can’t risk 3 1/2 times your potential return on a straight moneyline wager.

Against the spread

BET ARIZONA STATE +7.5 (-110).

After losing the first meeting of the season 67-56 on Dec. 31, Arizona State came back and won the second meeting. Both the Wildcats and the Sun Devils have won all 5 of their neutral site games this season.

Arizona State is playing for a berth in the Big Dance while Arizona, with the recent injuries suffered by UCLA, is aiming for a possible No. 1 seed in the Big Dance.

This will be a tight game and this means 7.5 points is too large of a spread. Taking the underdog is the way to go.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 153.5 (-115)

This is a large number, but it is well worth a look anyway.

The last game between these teams finished with 177 points and was a back-and-forth affair.

Arizona ranks 4th in the nation with 83.1 points per game and Arizona State has been able to put up 70.5 points per game of its own.

Arizona State has gone Over in 12 of its last 13 games following a win and it has also gone Over in 8 of its last 9 following an ATS cover.

Arizona has gone Over in 4 straight games and in 4 straight games against a team with a win percentage above .600.

Arizona at UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 76, Arizona 70

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no reason to take UCLA (-240) at the current odds as you’ll receive minimal profit if the Bruins win, although that is the likely outcome.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

UCLA -5.5 (-105) is the pick despite the Wildcats winning the first meeting this season. The Bruins are undefeated at home and they only converted 4-of-20 three-point attempts in the first meeting, which is something that likely won’t happen again.

The Wildcats are 4-5 ATS on the road and the Bruins are 10-6 ATS at home this season (2nd-best in the Pac-12). The home team is also 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

Over/Under

Even though these teams can light up the scoreboard at times, UNDER 148.5 (-115) is the lean in this matchup. UCLA allows only 59.7 points per game (7th in the nation) and the Under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these programs.

Arizona at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Arizona at USC odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 9 Arizona Wildcats (24-5, 13-5 Pac-12) will square off against the USC Trojans (21-8, 13-5) on Thursday at Galen Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arizona vs. USC odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Wildcats were unable to cover as 12.5-point home favorites in their 89-88 loss to Arizona State on Saturday. Arizona went 8-2 in its last 10 games and has the 2nd-best record in the Pac-12.

The Trojans beat Utah 62-49 on Saturday to cover as 2-point road favorites. USC is on a 4-game win streak and has won 8 of its last 10 contests.

This will be the second meeting between Arizona and USC this season. The Wildcats cruised to an 81-66 victory as 8-point home favorites and the Under (152.5) connected on Jan. 19.

Arizona at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 79, USC 73

Moneyline

BET ARIZONA (-140).

I wouldn’t bet the Wildcats any steeper than -150 in this road tilt, but they are the better team and should win by margin.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

BET ARIZONA -2.5 (-105).

The Wildcats and Trojans are tied in Pac-12 action, but Arizona should be able to pull ahead Thursday. USC is overly reliant on G Boogie Ellis and G Drew Peterson, making it easier for Arizona to defend.

Over/Under

UNDER 154.5 (-105) is the lean in this matchup despite some Pac-12 games being high-scoring. Arizona scored 81 points in the first meeting and the Under still hit.

Arizona State at Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 82, Arizona State 66

Moneyline

Arizona (-750) would cost you 7 1/2 times your potential return, and there is never a good reason to bet such a heavy favorite under any circumstances.

AVOID.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

ARIZONA -11.5 (-115) is a rather heavy number in a rivalry game, but the Wildcats are performing well against the number lately, while Arizona State is not.

The Wildcats are not only 5-2 ATS in the past 7 games overall, but Arizona is 5-1 ATS in the past 6 on its home floor. ‘Zona is also performing well against good teams, going 5-1 ATS in the past 6 outings against winning teams.

Sparky, on the other hand, is just 2-9 ATS in the past 11 games overall and have cashed just once in the past 5 on the road and once in the past 6 against teams with an overall winning mark.

Over/Under

UNDER 152.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly, with a half-unit play at most.

The Over has dominated for AZ State, going 6-2 in the past 8 on the road. However, the Under is 9-3 in the past 12 against winning teams.

It’s all about the Under for Arizona, going 9-3 in the past 12 games at home, while cashing in each of the past 4 against teams with an overall winning record.

Arizona 76, Utah 64

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publication. However, once it opens unless you’re confident in Utah pulling off the upset on the road, taking the moneyline in this matchup isn’t worth the risk.

Arizona at California odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Arizona at California odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 4 Arizona Wildcats (21-3, 10-3 Pac-12) battle the California Golden Bears (3-20, 2-10) Thursday. Tip from Haas Pavilion is set for 11 p.m. ET (PAC12). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arizona vs. California odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Golden Bears have lost 7 games in a row and are coming off a 61-46 road loss to Utah, covering as a 17.5-point underdog. They have covered 2 in a row and are 5-5 over their last 10. California is 10-13 ATS on the season.

The Wildcats have won 6 in a row and are coming off an 84-52 home win over Oregon State Saturday. They covered as a 20.5-point favorite. Arizona has covered 5 of its last 6 and is 11-12-1 ATS on the season.

Against the spread

LEAN ARIZONA -18.5 (-115).

Arizona is 6-7 ATS in conference games yet has been red-hot lately, posting a 4-1 ATS record over its last 5. The Golden Bears are just 6-6 ATS in conference games as well.

At home, Cal is 3-10 ATS. It has failed to cover 3 of its last 5 and its last 2 home games. It has lost 3 of its last 5 by 20 or more points and has lost all 5 by double figures. Against one of the best teams in the nation, Cal will likely struggle to keep pace.

Back ARIZONA -18.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 141.5 (-110).

If there’s one thing that bettors for both teams have enjoyed this season, it is the Under.

Cal is 10-13 O/U while Arizona is 11-13 O/U. They are a combined 10-15 O/U in conference games as well. Both teams have gone Under in 4 of their last 6.

For Cal, it has failed to top 50 points in 4 straight games. While Arizona should help pick up the pace, it isn’t a great 3-point shooting team, knocking down 36.3% of its attempts, which may limit how quickly it can tally points.

Ultimately, considering the trends, back the UNDER 141.5 (-110).

Oregon at Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 84, Oregon 74

Moneyline

AVOID.

It isn’t worth taking either of these teams to win straight up at the current odds. Arizona is much too steep and it should win by margin, so focus on the spread instead.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

ARIZONA -8.5 (-105) is how to play the spread even though Oregon has been playing well against conference opponents recently, The Wildcats are strong at home and they’ll be looking to bounce back after losing 87-68 to the Ducks on the road on Jan. 14.

Over/Under

OVER 151.5 (-105) is an intriguing bet with how well Arizona plays on the offensive end. The Wildcats average 82.9 points per game (11th in the nation), while the Ducks produce 70.3 points per game (210th).

Both of these teams have gone 5-1 to the Over in their last 6 games against teams with a winning record.
