Marvin Lewis gets a promotion with Arizona State Sun Devils

The former Bengals coach is rising back up the ranks.

For a moment, it looked like former Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis might be on his way back to the NFL.

Lewis was a name that came up during this last hiring cycle, including a link to the Dallas Cowboys. That came a year removed from his linking up with Herm Edwards as a special advisor with the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Now? Lewis got a promotion and will serve as a co-defensive coordinator alongside Antonio Pierce.

“Marvin Lewis is someone that I have come to trust wholeheartedly during my career and his coaching acumen will prove to be invaluable as we continue to push this program forward,” Sun Devils head coach Herm Edwards said. “He has coached at the highest level of football and spearheaded some elite defenses in the process. That kind of experience cannot be measured and his passion for teaching will extend beyond the student-athletes, but also to our coaching staff itself.”

While rumblings around Lewis going back to the NFL made sense given his level of experience, it seemed likely he’d just stick with Edwards and Arizona State given the proximity to family and otherwise.

Now Lewis has a promotion to boot, though don’t be shocked if his name comes up around this time again next year when several teams in need of head coaches throw him on lists.

Watch Ohio State wrestling coach Tom Ryan talk about big meet vs. Arizona State

Ohio State head wrestling coach Tom Ryan spoke to members of the media to preview the big dual-meet with Arizona State.

The Ohio State wrestling team is still trying to figure itself out. There have been injuries and guys still fighting and competing for spots that will ultimately determine what kind of season this team will have.

But in some ways, head coach Tom Ryan has to work on the car while driving it because there’s still competitive meets to make it through in order to position the team in a place for the postseason.

On that note, Ohio State has a big one Monday night at home against No. 4 ranked Arizona State at the posh Covelli Center. It’s a dual meet that’s nationally televised and extremely important for the confidence of this Buckeye squad.

Ryan took some time to meet with a few members of the media to discuss where his team is, where it’s going, and to preview the matchup with the Sun Devils.

You can watch thanks to the official Twitter feed and website of Ohio State wrestling. Just click on the below and have a watch. And if you want to catch the dual meet on television, tune into FS1 at 7:00 PM.

Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin declares for 2020 NFL draft

Benjamin rushed for nearly 3,000 yards throughout his Sun Devils career despite only being a full-time player for two of those seasons.

Arizona State running back Eno Benjamin has declared for the 2020 NFL draft.

The prolific rusher announced his decision through Twitter on Tuesday.

Benjamin rushed for nearly 3,000 yards throughout his Sun Devils career despite only being a full-time player for two of those seasons. He burst onto the scene after a 2018 season that saw him total more than 1,900 yards and an astounding 18 touchdowns.

“Thank you God almighty. Today, I am now an ASU alum” Benjamin said in his declaration video. “I wanna say thank you to all the coaches for giving me an opportunity. Wearing that ‘C’ on my chest and being awarded a scholar baller patch was an honor and I’ll be forever grateful.”

His decision comes as no surprise, as he has been seen by many as one of the best performing running backs in all of college football over the past two seasons.

Benjamin’s burst and ability to pick up yards after initial contact should land him a solid role at the next level.

Arizona at Arizona State: Three things you need to know

1. The Sun Devils are coming off a 31-28 upset win over No. 6 Oregon last week. Freshman QB Jayden Daniels threw for 408 yards in the win.

Prediction

Arizona State 37, Arizona 24

Moneyline (ML)

The Sun Devils are almost a slam dunk bet on the moneyline, but it won’t earn you much money. The line for Arizona State is -556. A bet on the Wildcats at +375 could be a big winner but they haven’t played well enough to take that bet.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Arizona State returns a profit of $1.80.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The Sun Devils are big favorites at -12.5. They are coming off a big win against the previously sixth-ranked Oregon Ducks. Arizona State has covered the spread in only four games this season but the Wildcats have covered only twice.

Arizona State has covered six of the last 10 games against Arizona but only one of the last three.

Arizona State should win easily. Take the SUN DEVILS and give up the points (-12.5, -121).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at 59.5 points. Both teams’ seasons suggest the Over is the better choice as it has hit in six of each team’s 11 games this season.

Arizona has a top offense and Arizona State can put up points, while the Wildcats are bad defensively. Take the OVER (-110).

Oregon at Arizona State odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Oregon Ducks at Arizona State Sun Devils betting odds and lines, with college football analysis, picks and best bets.

The Oregon Ducks (9-1, 7-0 Pac-12 North) and Arizona State Sun Devils (5-5, 2-5 Pac-12 South) meet Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Oregon-Arizona State odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Oregon at Arizona State: Three things you need to know

1. The Ducks look to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive and cannot afford to be tripped up against the Sun Devils, or against Oregon State in the Civil War.

2. Oregon enters 4-1 against the spread in the past five Pac-12 battles, while the Sun Devils are 0-3-1 ATS in the past four league outings.

3. The Ducks rank 14th in the country with 37.8 points per game (PPG), and they’re 10th in the land defensively, yielding just 14.8 PPG.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Oregon 34, Arizona State 13

Moneyline (ML)

The moneyline is just not worth the risk. Oregon (-667) is too expensive, and Arizona State (+445) just doesn’t have the consistent offensive attack to stay with the high-octane Ducks.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Oregon to win outright would return a profit of $1.50.

Against the Spread (ATS)

OREGON (-14.5, -105) is the play here, although I’d feel a lot more comfortable buying the line down under two touchdowns or playing this game as part of a large teaser.

Arizona State (+14.5, -115) is just 1-4-1 ATS in the past six at home, and 2-5 ATS in the past seven at home against the Ducks. Oregon is 8-3-1 ATS in the past 12 meetings overall in this series, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 52.5 (-110) is the play, going 12-4-1 in Oregon’s last 17 games on the road and 7-1 in its past eight on a grass surface. The Over is 4-1 in Arizona State’s past five overall, but the Under is 5-2 in the past seven following a non-cover in its previous outing.

Arizona State-Oregon State odds: Sun Devils small road favorite

Previewing Saturday’s Arizona State Sun Devils at Oregon State Beavers college football matchup, with NCAA football betting odds, picks and best bets

The Arizona State Sun Devils (5-4, 2-4 Pac-12 South), on the road for the final time this season, visit the Oregon State Beavers (4-5, 3-3 Pac-12 North) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET (on FS1).

We analyze the Arizona State-Oregon State odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Arizona State at Oregon State: Three things you need to know

1. ASU freshman QB Jayden Daniels will return to the starting lineup after missing the last game against USC.

2. The Sun Devils have lost three straight conference games.

3. The Beavers have only won once this season at home.

Arizona State at Oregon State: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Arizona State 31, Oregon State 20

Moneyline (ML)

Oregon State is suddenly playing better but still is a 4-5 team, having lost four of five at home. They offer value at +120, but the SUN DEVILS are the smarter bet at -143.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Arizona State returns a profit of $7.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The SUN DEVILS have not been a good bet against the spread. They are favored by 2.5 (-121) on the road, but have covered the spread only three times all season.

Oregon State, on the other hand, is 6-3 against the spread. However, the Arizona State defense should hold up and RB Eno Benjamin should be able to be the workhorse, as the Beavers allow over 192 rushing yards per game.

Lay the points with ASU.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at 57.5 points, which is high. Both teams have hit the under in five of their nine games this season. The two teams combine to average 53 points. That is right about where Saturday’s game will end.

Take the UNDER (-115).
