Florida’s loss is Notre Dame’s gain in latest Amway Coaches Poll

Notre Dame took care of business against Florida State, while Florida fell to Texas A&M which helped the Irish move up in the Coaches Poll.

Notre Dame’s return to the field was just as a few of us expected, they had to shake off some rust early on and didn’t beat an overmatched Florida State team as soundly as they should have. But a win is a win and the Irish continue to have a crooked number first and a big fat zero after the dash.

Advance and survive, that’s the name of the game. The Irish did just that, while watching Florida do the opposite. The Gators loss is Notre Dame gain, as they moved up one spot to No. 4.

Oklahoma remains unranked in Amway Coaches Poll

The fresh Amway Coaches Poll is out, but the Oklahoma Sooners are still missing from the Top 25.

Oklahoma is not used to being an unranked football team, but that is where they found themselves after their second straight loss a week ago to Iowa State.

Yesterday, the Sooners bounced back with a wild four-overtime win over No. 22 Texas.

There was some speculation this could be enough to get Oklahoma back into the rankings, but it looks like they will be forced to wait at least another week as they are unranked again in the official release of the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA Today Sports.

They are the third-highest team in the “also receiving votes” group, just behind UCF and NC State.

Topping the rankings is still Clemson at No. 1, and the top five is rounded out with Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.

There are three Big 12 teams in the rankings with Oklahoma State at No. 7, Iowa State at No. 20, and Kansas State at No. 22.

Oklahoma will be off next week before heading head to Fort Worth to match up with TCU on October 24th.

After Texas’ second loss of the season, they fall out of the Amway Coaches Poll. It is the first time this season Texas will not be ranked.

Tom Herman has coached against Oklahoma five times during his time at Texas and has lost four of them. Saturday’s loss was the most difficult of them to swallow, losing in four overtimes.

After the Longhorns’ second loss of the season, they fall out of the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. It is the first time this season Texas will not have a ranking next to their name.

After their Red River Shootout win, Oklahoma remains unranked, receiving 87 votes. Oklahoma State remains the highest-ranked Big 12 team after a bye week at No. 7, while Iowa State rises up to No. 20. Kansas State jumps into the polls at No. 22.

Big Ten teams see slight boost in latest Amway Coaches Poll

Ohio State remained No. 6 in the newly released coaches poll, but the three other ranked Big Ten teams all moved up a few spots.

[jwplayer A8I2iwtU]

The Big Ten won’t kickoff the 2020 season for a few more weeks but there was still some movement up the rankings for a handful of Big Ten teams in the latest coaches poll.

Ohio State remained No. 6 in the newly released Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA Today, but the three other ranked Big Ten squads all moved up a few spots based on this past weekend’s results. Penn State moved up two spots to No. 8, Wisconsin jumped up four spots to No. 14, and Michigan scooted up two spots to No. 19. Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska also received votes in this week’s poll.

To no surprise, Michigan State didn’t receive any votes in this week’s poll. The Spartans open the 2020 season on Oct. 24 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Game time for kickoff in that one is still to be determined.

With the loss, UT drops 13 spots in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. UT is now ranked No. 22, behind Texas A&M and SMU.

For the seventh time in nine years, Texas lost to Garry Patterson and TCU. A mix of timely penalties and the Longhorns’ offense struggling all-day caused the first loss of the season.

Georgia steps up, ties Florida for third in latest Amway Coaches Poll

The Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports was released on Sunday with a bit of a wrinkle in its latest rankings for two SEC teams.

The Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports was released on Sunday with a bit of a wrinkle in its latest rankings that fans of the Southeastern Conference can appreciate.

The latest iteration of the ballot saw the Georgia Bulldogs inch up a slot to move into a tie with their rival the Florida Gators in the No. 3 spot. The Bulldogs soundly defeated the then-seventh-ranked Auburn Tigers 27-7 on Saturday to answer their critics after a less-than-impressive SEC Week 1 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Gators, on the other hand, dispatched the South Carolina Gamecocks at home on Saturday with relative authority, though some questions still remain about how robust UF’s defense actually is versus what has been seen so far.
