Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. are expected play in Allstate Sugar Bowl

Alabama to have all hands on deck for the Allstate Sugar Bowl matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats!

It was almost a foregone conclusion by most analysts that [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide would be competing in the Allstate Sugar Bowl without some of its star players.

It is now being reported that Alabama will not be experiencing any opt-outs including stars [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] and [autotag]Will Anderson Jr.[/autotag] who are both projected as top-five picks in the 2023 NFL draft.

Ever since the college football playoff era has been around, most teams that missed out on the playoffs have experienced opt-outs from some of its top players.

Young and Anderson are making quite a statement about their commitment to the Crimson Tide and their teammates by competing in the Sugar Bowl.

Chris Low of ESPN made the announcement on Twitter earlier this afternoon.

5 young players who could impact the Sugar Bowl for Alabama

The transfer portal and potential opt-outs could provide opportunities for several of Alabama’s younger players.

Alabama’s Allstate Sugar Bowl matchup with Kansas State is still a little over three weeks away but there are still several interesting notes to dissect when looking at the contest.

The mass exodus that Alabama has had via the transfer portal has opened up several opportunities for younger players to make an impact for the Crimson Tide when New Year’s Eve arrives.

But the portal is not the only thing we should be thinking about. It is more likely than not that Alabama will experience at least a few opt-outs from some of its upperclassmen who are expected to be high draft picks come April 2023.

Team leaders such as [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] and [autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag] are expected to skip out on New Orleans and begin preparing to become most likely top-five picks. There is also a chance that they are not the only two.

Now, when putting together this list, we are merely working off hypothetical scenarios since none of the starters have yet to make an announcement of their intentions for the Sugar Bowl. I am also going to do my best to include players that have not really made that much of an impact to this point.

Nevertheless, here are some young players that could be given an opportunity to make an impact against the Wildcats.

5 Wildcats Alabama fans should get to know ahead of Sugar Bowl matchup

5 Kansas State Wildcats that Alabama fans should know about.

It was announced on Sunday that the Alabama Crimson Tide would be facing the Big 12 champs, the Kansas State Wildcats in the 89th annual Allstate Sugar Bowl on Dec. 31.

While the disappointment may still be fresh on the mind of Alabama football fans about missing out on the College Football Playoffs, making it to a New Year’s six bowl game is nothing to hang your head about.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide now have just one more opportunity to show what this version of Alabama can do on the gridiron.

Since the Wildcats are not a traditional powerhouse and it’s likely that not many Alabama fans are familiar with their roster, I thought it was a good time for Tide fans to get to know some of Kansas State’s best players.

Let’s roll!

Oklahoma takes on Texas A&M in the Sugar Bowl in ESPN’s latest bowl projections

Where’s Oklahoma headed in ESPN’s latest bowl projections for the 2022 season?

With just 12 days until Oklahoma takes the field in Norman against UTEP, projections and predictions for the season are in high gear. Rosters and position battles are being won left and right, and the outlook for each team’s season is becoming more clear. All that’s left is to do the most important part: play the games.

ESPN’s taking the liberty of protecting the bowls and CFP matchups for the 2022 season (ESPN+).

Oklahoma’s projected matchup pits it against an old foe it will reunite with when it joins the SEC. Jimbo Fisher’s Texas A&M Aggies are projected to take on Oklahoma in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

A&M’s schedule features a significant Top 25 matchup against the Miami Hurricanes, which is a better nonconference test than Oklahoma’s matchup with Nebraska. A&M faces the tougher conference schedule with Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss.

A matchup for these former Big 12 rivals would be their first matchup since the 2013 Cotton Bowl. That game featured high-powered offenses led by Johnny Manziel and Landry Jones. A&M came out on top, 41-13, outscoring Oklahoma, 27-0, in the second half to pull away.

A trip to the Allstate Sugar Bowl in his first year as head coach would be a very nice start for Brent Venables, considering the amount of turnover the Sooners went through since the end of last season.

Double-digit wins (a possible Big 12 Championship) and a New Year’s Six bowl against an SEC opponent would be a great start to the Venables era in Norman.

Watch: Chris Olave hauls in a bomb from Justin Fields to put Ohio State up by three scores

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is continuing to light up the Clemson defense. Watch him throw a bomb to Chris Olave for a TD.

Momentum is a crazy thing in football. One minute things are going your way, then one big play and the big mo can shift to the other team in no time flat.

Ohio State marched down the field to open the half, but a Justin Fields interception gave Clemson some much-needed life. Trevor Lawrence led his Tiger teammates down the field to bring Clemson within two scores.

We’ve seen this story before. But credit Ohio State running backs Trey Sermon and Miyan Williams for sparking the Buckeye offense before Justin Fields let one fly for 56-yards to hit a streaking Chris Olave for the score.

Check out the scoring strike below.

Watch: Justin Fields find a wide open Jeremy Ruckert to give Ohio State lead in Sugar Bowl

Ohio State is finding a lot of offense so far against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl. Watch a well-designed misdirection for a Jeremy Ruckert TD.

After allowing Clemson two quick scoring drives, the Ohio State defense has seemed to settle in and the offense is starting to look like the one we thought it could.

Ryan Day is calling an excellent game, keeping the Tigers on their heels. Justin Fields had several nice runs on the Buckeyes third scoring drive of the first half, some by design, some out of necessity.

And just like it should, the running game is opening up the passing lanes. From the 17-yard line, Fields rolled out to his left before looking back right to find a wide-open Jeremy Ruckert.

Watch the poetry in motion as Ruckert waltzes into the endzone.

Watch: Justin Fields hits deep throw to Garrett Wilson to set up TD

Ohio State has the offense going in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson. Watch as Justin Fields hits Garrett Wilson for a diving catch.

Finding themselves down 14-7 in the first quarter of the Sugar Bowl, Ohio State got their first big passing play of the game. After running the ball effectively, it was the perfect time for a play-action pass play.

And the play worked to perfection with the defense getting sucked in on the fake to Trey Sermon as Garrett Wilson broke free streaking up the sideline. Fields pass was thrown just a bit out in front of Wilson, but No. 5 stretched out to make a spectacular catch.

Watch below as Fields lures the Clemson defense in, stands tall in the pocket, and delivers a dime to a diving Wilson.

Watch: Trey Sermon rips off 32 yard touchdown run in Sugar Bowl against Clemson

Ohio State running back Trey Sermon is already making a difference in the Sugar Bowl. Watch as he rips off a 32-yard TD against Clemson.

After the Ohio State defense gave up an opening drive that averaged over 10 yards per play to the Clemson Tigers, the Buckeyes have seemed to calm down a bit.

The Bucks went three and out on their opening drive but after getting Clemson to punt, Justin Fields and company took over and moved the ball right down the field. Fields found Trey Sermon on a check down and Sermon rumbled for 34 yards. On the very next play, Sermon took the handoff and ripped off a 32-yard run for the score.

Watch as Sermon runs through a huge lane courtesy of the Ohio State offensive line.

Ohio State releases player status availability for Sugar Bowl vs. Clemson

Who’s out for the Sugar Bowl? Ohio State released its player availability for the 87th playing of the classic.

The 87th Sugar Bowl will be kicking off shortly between Ohio State and Clemson shortly. Both teams have kept injuries and who will be available for the game close to the vest. We now have official word on who will be out for the Buckeyes when they take the field.

We learned earlier from his mother’s Facebook post that starting left guard, Harry Miller, will not be with the team after testing positive for COVID. Another big name on the inactive list is running back, Master Teague. The starting OSU running back was replaced by Trey Sermon in the Big Ten Championship game after sustaining a concussion during the game. Sermon of course went on to have a monster day and broke a 25-year-old record held by Ohio State Heisman winner, Eddie George in the process.

Another big name on the list is defensive end, Zach Harrison who has rotated in at the edge. Harrison and the rest of the rushmen have had quietly had a huge impact on games. Quietly because it’s been a collective effort all season long and not just one player getting all the attention.

The Buckeyes task at hand just got a little more difficult. But as they say… Next Man Up.

NEXT … Complete status report from Ohio State.
