Former Nittany Lion Allen Robinson traded to Steelers

Former Penn State wide receiver is on the move after an NFL trade before the NFL draft

Former Penn State wide receiver [autotag]Allen Robinson II[/autotag] is heading back to Pennsylvania. As the NFL offseason continues, Robinson has been traded by the Los Angeles Rams to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to NFL Media.

Robinson is a former Nittany Lion who was drafted originally in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He has played for a total of three teams including the Jaguars but also the Bears and the Rams who were most recently rostering the former Nittany Lion.

Robinson heads to Pittsburgh to be back in the state where he played college football and became one of the best receivers in Penn State history. He left State College with an impressive 177 receptions for 2,479 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns. His catch against the Michigan Wolverines in 2013 remains one of the most replayed moments in recent Penn State history.

Robinson is expected to play the role of slot receiver within the Penn State offense as they look to develop quarterback Kenny Pickett. Robinson has played with young quarterbacks in the past, as well as veteran ones, which should allow him to become a favorite target for the team.

He hasn’t achieved over 1,000 yards receiving since 2020 and hopes to break that streak in 2023.

Looking back on his larger achievements while at Penn State and as a professional, he also has two All-Big Ten honors and was a unanimous All-American selection at the end of his final season in State College.

PSU in NFL: Week 11 moments from former Penn State players

Here are the top NFL moments from former Penn State players from Week 11.

We are through 11 weeks of the NFL regular season. With some former Penn State players on bye weeks, we still saw plenty of exciting games from the ones that did play this week.
With some key teams coming out on top in the NFC East, that division just got a lot more interesting to finish off the regular season.
[autotag]Adrian Amos[/autotag] continues to be one of the most productive players on the Packers defense. However, the team continues to struggle, and at the rate they’re playing right now, this will likely be the first time the Packers have missed the playoffs under head coach Matt LaFleur since hiring him after the 2018 season.
We also saw some productive games from key Penn State rookies like [autotag]Jaquan Brisker[/autotag] and [autotag]Arnold Ebiketie[/autotag].
Another struggling team is the Rams. With Cooper Kupp out for the season, they turn to veterans like [autotag]Allen Robinson II[/autotag].
It was another productive week for former Penn State players.

Who is the best player to wear No. 8 in Penn State history?

Who is the best player to ever wear No. 8 for Penn State football?

August 8th is one of people’s favorite days of the year when it comes to the play it has of the number eight. In the history of Penn State football there have been a multitude of number eights in school history but one shines above the rest.

[autotag]Allen Robinson II[/autotag] played at Penn State from 2011 to 2013 and was the best offensive weapon during his tenure. He is currently ranked fourth all-time in receptions (177), fifth all-time in receiving yards (2,479),  and eighth all-time in touchdowns (17). Of course despite all those amazing stats his catch against Michigan or his double reverse against Ohio State may still be what he is most known for.

To enjoy the old days though, take a look back at Allen Robinson’s time in State College. Currently you can see him playing for the Los Angeles Rams where he is  currently building a connection with Matthew Stafford as he pursues his first Super Bowl win.

Bleacher Report names one free agent that Ravens should avoid in 2022 offseason

Bleacher Report named one free agent that the Ravens should avoid in the 2022 offseason

The Baltimore Ravens will have plenty of opportunities to make their team better during the 2022 offseason. Whether it be through free agency, the draft or even trades, Baltimore’s roster could look very different when the team suits up to take the field next year.

However, when examining one free agent that every NFL team should avoid in the 2022 offseason, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report threw a popular name out there for the Ravens who has been linked to the organization for a long time in wide receiver Allen Robinson II. When explaining why, Kay mentioned that Robinson and Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields didn’t mesh, and the fact that the rookie signal caller is a mobile quarterback wouldn’t bode well for Robinson’s chances to revitalize his career in Baltimore.

“Robinson’s lack of chemistry with rookie wideout Justin Fields was concerning. The wideout didn’t seem to fit in Chicago’s offense with the mobile signal-caller at the helm either, which is a major reason why Baltimore shouldn’t consider the eight-year veteran.”

Kay also talked about how often the Ravens run the football as a key reason why Baltimore should stay away from the veteran wide receiver.

“The Ravens have utilized one of the NFL’s most run-heavy schemes since Lamar Jackson became the starting quarterback…The team passed on a league-low 44.96 percent of offensive plays in 2020, and even with one of the most banged-up running back corps in football, dialed up throws on just 56.37 percent of its snaps in 2021.”

Robinson is currently coming off of his worst season as a professional, catching 38 passes for 410 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. The Ravens have a plethora of young receiving talent that includes players such as Marquise Brown, Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, James Proche II, Tylan Wallace and others, and don’t need to shell out big money to someone who could be a pricy option at the position when they have other needs to fill.

Deshaun Watson lands with Giants as part of ESPN’s fantasy re-draft

The New York Giants end up with Deshaun Watson as their quarterback in ESPN’s recent fantasy re-draft.

For some, conducting a league-wide fantasy-style re-draft during their Madden franchise is the way to go. It is, after all, an interesting concept and one that leads to fierce debate over the value of not only the players themselves, but positions.

It’s a topic those at ESPN’s NFL Nation recently decided to take on, likely just looking to fill the sports void brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

Although they did not re-draft full 53-man rosters for all 32 NFL teams, they did draft four “foundational players” for each team using the 2020 NFL Draft order — one quarterback, one non-QB offensive player, one defensive player and one wildcard.

The Giants, drafted by Jordan Raanan, ended up with Deshaun Watson as their quarterback and Yannick Ngakoue as their edge rusher.

Here’s how the entire team shook out:

Round 1 (4): Deshaun Watson, QB
Round 2 (61): Yannick Ngakoue, DE
Round 3 (68): Terron Armstead, OT
Round 4 (125): Allen Robinson II, WR

That certainly is an interesting compilation of players, but there’s little denying that Watson has game-changing ability in him and may be one of the NFL’s most underrated players.

If you don’t have a quarterback, you don’t have a chance. It’s really that simple. And Watson has produced 64 total touchdowns in the past two seasons — only Mahomes and Wilson had more — and did it behind a really bad offensive line.

After that, I had to wait awhile (57 picks) but still tabbed one of the league’s best pass-rushers in Ngakoue. Again, positional value was key. I got the most important offensive position with my first pick and the most important defensive position with my second. An All-Pro tackle in the third round helps give Watson’s line talent he hadn’t seen in Houston. And put fourth-rounder Robinson with Watson instead of Mitchell Trubisky and you’ll see the star ability. This is a core that would win multiple Super Bowls.

Mike Clay graded Raanan re-draft as “tier 1,” citing Watson as the foundation pick and the rest as having strong value.

Tier 1. It feels like Watson remains a bit underrated by the general consensus, so I’m glad he got some respect here. And then Raanan found good value the rest of the way.

Running back Saquon Barkley landed with the Houston Texans at No. 39 overall, while quarterback Daniel Jones ended up with the Los Angeles Chargers at No. 70 overall.
