Alex Morono vs. Daniel Rodriguez prediction, pick, start time for UFC Fight Night 244

Alex Morono has struggled with southpaws in the past. Will Daniel Rodriguez give him problems at UFC Fight Night 244?

[autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] and [autotag]Daniel Rodriguez[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC Fight Night 244 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Last event: 3-2
UFC main cards, 2024: 84-74-3

Alex Morono vs. Daniel Rodriguez UFC Fight Night 244 preview

Morono (24-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) has traded wins and losses over his last six fights. In his most recent outing in June, Morono dropped a unanimous decision to Niko Price. Before that, Morono was on the right side of a unanimous decision against Cour McGee in April. … Rodriguez (17-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC) has his back against the wall as a loser of three straight. His most recent outing was a unanimous decision loss vs. Kelvin Gastelum in June. “D-Rod’s” last victory was a split decision over Li Jingliang in September 2022.

Alex Morono vs. Daniel Rodriguez UFC Fight Night 244 expert pick, prediction

Filling out the main card is a welterweight bout between Morono and Rodriguez.

Although I’m a big fan of Morono, I can see why he’s the underdog in this spot.

Aside from having more miles on him than Rodriguez, Morono has traditionally struggled against southpaws on the feet, going 1-2 against UFC-level lefties. Even in Morono’s lone southpaw win against Tim Means, “The Dirty Bird” was piecing him up on the feet before Morono was able to pull out a hail-mary submission win.

So long as Rodriguez can avoid the same fate, I suspect he should have the edge in exchanges here.

This fight going the distance wouldn’t shock me, but I’ll pick somewhat begrudgingly take Rodriguez to clip a tiring Morono for a TKO win late into Round 2.

Alex Morono vs. Daniel Rodriguez UFC Fight Night 244 odds

The oddsmakers and the public favor the older fighter, listing Rodriguez -215 and Morono +172 via FanDuel.

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono prediction, pick, start time, odds for UFC 302

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono was bumped up ot the main card on UFC 302 fight week. Which welterweight could produce a highlight moment?

[autotag]Niko Price[/autotag] and [autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] meet Saturday on the main card of UFC 302 from Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono UFC 302 preview

Price (15-7 MMA, 7-7 UFC) is searching for his first win since 2021. His last victory was a unanimous decision win over Alex Oliviera, but then dropped consecutive bouts against Phil Rowe and Robbie Lawler. The 34 year old welterweight has never lost three straight. … Morono (24-9 MMA, 13-6 UFC) will look to keep the momentum going after a unanimous decision win against Court McGee in April. The 33 year old has traded wins and losses over his last four outings, having not won back-to-back or more fights since a four-fight streak in 2021-22.

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono UFC 302 expert pick, prediction

Continuing to lean heavily on rematch bookings since 2022, the UFC matchmakers go to the well once again with an impromptu welterweight offering between Morono and Price.

In defense of Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard, Price was initially set to face Jerimiah Wells, who had to unfortunately pull out due to injury.

Thankfully for the UFC brass, the company has reliable action fighters like Morono who are willing to step up on short notice.

Despite officially going down in the books as a “no contest,” Morono lost their first fight by knockout and is likely looking to get that back. Luckily for the Texan, Price has trended worse between the two since the first time they met.

I’ll never put a crazy knockout past Price, but I’ll side with Morono to win the day with volume in what I suspect will be an awkward striking match from start to finish.

The pick is Morono by decison.

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono UFC 302 odds

Morono will enter as the betting favorite, according to FanDuel, coming in at -260, with Price a +205 underdog.

Niko Price vs. Alex Morono UFC 302 start time, how to watch

As the second main card bout, Price and Morono are expected to make their walks to the octagon at approximately 10:45 p.m. ET. The fight streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view.

UFC’s Alex Morono calls for ‘awesome’ fight against Matt Brown or rematch with Santiago Ponzinibbio

In his next outing, Alex Morono wants to share the octagon veteran Matt Brown, or run it back vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] typically doesn’t call for specific opponents but had a pair of names in mind after UFC Fight Night 240.

Morono (24-9 MMA, 13-6 UFC) won a unanimous decision over fellow veteran Court McGee in the featured prelim bout at the UFC Apex. McGee (21-13 MMA, 10-12 UFC) was defeated by Matt Brown last year, which was one of the names Morono had at the tip of his tongue, along with the idea of avenging a prior loss of his own.

“I’d love a rematch with Santiago Ponzinibbio, I think that would be a lot of fun,” Morono told reporters during a post-fight news conference. “All due respect to ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown, he’s got the most knockouts in welterweight history, that would be awesome.

“There’s so many cool fights I like out there. As soon as they’re willing to offer me a fight, I will accept that fight and get right back to it. I’ll fight more often if they let me.”

Morono fell to Ponzinibbio by third-round knockout at UFC 282, and would like to avenge his last stoppage loss. He has since won two of his last three, while Ponzinibbio has only competed once since, in a loss to Kevin Holland.

Brown, 43, stopped McGee in his last outing by first-round knockout last May to claim the most knockouts in UFC welterweight history. While his career may be in its final stages, Brown stated after his last win that his fighting future will depend on how well his body holds up.

Check out Morono’s full post-fight interview in the video above.

Alex Morono ‘surprised, but happy’ to get booked vs. Court McGee for UFC Fight Night 240

Alex Morono breaks down his upcoming fight against Court McGee at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 240.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Alex Morono[/autotag] was a bit caught off guard when he was matched up against veteran [autotag]Court McGee[/autotag] – but he’s not complaining.

Morono (23-9 MMA, 12-6 UFC) returns to the cage this Saturday, taking on McGee (21-12 MMA, 10-11 UFC) on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 240 at the UFC Apex. It was a matchup he didn’t see coming, but one that he’s glad that he got.

“It’s funny, of everyone on the card, he’s got the most UFC fights and I have the second most,” Morono said at Wednesday’s media day. “I think between the two of us, it’s like 40 UFC fights, which is awesome. I was surprised, but happy to get that name and fight a vet.

“I’ve been watching him since ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ and pretty much all of his fights since, and he’s a gamer. He’s gone the distance with a lot of high level guys, and I’m expecting this fight to be gritty, and I do expect it to go all three rounds.”

Morono sees this fight ending in a decision, given how tough and experienced the 39-year-old McGee is. Yet, despite the tough task, Morono is looking to put away the veteran.

“He’s got so much octagon time, that’s a harder question to really analyze and answer more than you think,” Morono said when asked about the matchup.” I’m always going to look for the KO. We’re going to grapple in this fight, that I guarantee. A KO is a gold medal, a submission is a silver medal, and a decision is a bronze medal, so I’m just looking to get that gold, for sure.”
