Jahmyr Gibbs selected No. 12 overall in the 2023 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions

Jahmyr Gibbs has been selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 12 pick in the 2023 NFL draft!

Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 12 pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Gibbs spent just one season in Tuscaloosa after transferring to the Tide from Georgia Tech but instantly made an impact for coach Nick Saban.

Gibbs will join a young Lions offense that is capable of putting up some points, especially when former Alabama receiver Jameson Williams rejoins the team after his six-week suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

Gibbs is destined to have a stellar NFL career with his elite ability to make explosive plays as both a runner and pass catcher.

Roll Tide Wire wishes Gibbs the best at his new home in Detriot.

WATCH: Jase McClellan looks to be recovering well from ACL injury

Jase McClellan looks to be making a full recovery!

On October 2, 2021, Alabama running back [autotag]Jase McClellan[/autotag] suffered a knee injury against the Ole Miss Rebels. McClellan would go on to miss the remainder of the 2021 season and his absence in the running back rotation was certainly felt.

McClellan is a gifted runner who is also a threat out of the backfield as a receiver. Aside from his abilities as an offensive threat, McClellan was also a star on the special teams unit for the Crimson Tide.

Before his season-ending injury, McClellan had 288 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns. One of them came on special teams after a blocked punt.

Still recovering from his injury, Tide fans did not get to see McClellan during the spring activities but from the video below, it looks as if McClellan is making a full recovery.

Former Auburn running back Brad Lester, who now owns his own training company, posted this video on his Twitter account displaying McClellan’s progress.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Jase’s progression throughout the offseason.

5 ideal NFL landing spots for Brian Robinson in the 2022 NFL draft

Here are five ideal landing spots for Brian Robinson Jr. in the 2022 NFL draft.

The 2022 NFL draft is set to begin on Thursday evening and several former members of the Crimson Tide are expected to hear their names called sometime during the draft festivities.

One such player is the former star running back Brian Robinson Jr., who led the Crimson Tide in rushing yards during the 2021 season with 1,343 yards.

Robinson is a bruising back standing at 6 feet 2 inches and 225 pounds. While he isn’t likely to be a home run threat, Robinson’s patience in the hole and great finishing ability makes him a tremendous goal-line threat.

During his final season with Alabama, Robinson displayed his improved pass-catching ability, hauling in 35 receptions for 296 yards.

Currently, Robinson is projected to be a mid-round draft selection so I thought we could take a look at some of the ideal landing spots for the Tuscaloosa native.

REPORT: Former 5-star RB Camar Wheaton unlikely to return to Alabama

The talented back is not likely to return to Alabama

Reports have begun to surface that former five-star running back prospect Camar Wheaton is no longer enrolled at Alabama and is unlikely to return to the Crimson Tide. The reason for Wheaton’s departure has not yet been released.

Wheaton was regarded as one of the top backs in the country when he signed with the Tide as a part of the 2021 class.

Due to a knee injury, Wheaton did not see any action as a true freshman in Tuscaloosa. Head coach Nick Saban last provided an update on Wheaton back in November. “Camar Wheaton’s still rehabbing,” Saban said. “He’s not on the field yet. He’s got a ways to go.”

Chris Hummer of 247Sports was the first to report on the news.

Alabama Football: 5 position groups to watch this spring

Alabama Football: 5 position groups to watch this spring

Although Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide were not able to claim a national championship this past season, the 2021 team still accomplished quite a bit.

The Tide won the SEC Championship and finished with an impressive 13-2 record and Bryce Young became the first Alabama quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy.

Now that the season has come to an end, let’s shift our focus to spring practice and which position groups Alabama fans should be watching when the Tide returns to practice in a couple of months.

Alabama recruiting: 2022 4-star RB Le’Veon Moss lands Tide offer

Alabama offered one of the nation’s top running back prospects, Louisiana native Le’veon Moss, for the 2022 class on Wednesday night.

Alabama continues to work towards building its 2021 recruiting class, but that doesn’t mean that head coach Nick Saban and company aren’t already getting a head start on 2022 as well.

Several high-profile high school recruits for 2022 have been offered by the Crimson Tide over the last few weeks, including Instrouma Senior running back Le’Veon Moss, who shared the news on Wednesday night via Twitter:

The four-star prospect out of Baton Rouge (La.) is rated as the No. 51 overall prospect, the No. 6 running back and No. 3 player from the state of Louisiana, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

In addition to his offer from Alabama, Moss holds offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Miami and Memphis. But expect that list to continue to grow as more schools learn about the immense talent the 5-foot-11, 182-pound runner possesses.

Gabe Brooks with 247Sports had this to say when evaluating Moss:

Built well for a young running back prospect with typical size for the position. Runs hard. Gets downhill quickly and hits the hole with a purpose. Shows sudden one-cut ability. Flashes good acceleration with impressive top-end speed to hit the long ball. Terrific long speed verified in track setting (10.92 as a freshman). Sometimes runs upright with too much forward lean. Limited pass-catching opportunities. High-major running back recruit among Louisiana’s top 2022 prospects. Long-term potential for all-conference consideration and NFL Draft ceiling.

Alabama has recruited the running back position extremely well over the last several years with talents such as Najee Harris, Brian Robinson Jr., Trey Sanders, Jase McClellan, Royell Williams and others.

Will Moss continue the tradition of adding a top prospect at that position for the 2022 class? Stay tuned for more updates on the recruitment of Moss recruitment from Roll Tide Wire!

Alabama offers 2022 4-star running back out of Texas

On Tuesday night, Four-star RB Jaydon Blue out of Houston announced via his Twitter account that Alabama had extended an offer.

Alabama recently landed a top four-star running back out of the state of Texas for its 2020 recruiting class in Jase McClellan. Now, it looks like the Tide is after another for 2020.

On Tuesday night, Jaydon Blue out of Houston announced via his Twitter account that Alabama had extended an offer, and the news came on the same day that he had earned a four-star rating from Rivals.com:

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Blue is rated as the No. 80 overall prospect for the 2022 class, while also checking in as the No. 7 running back and No. 11 player from the state of Texas.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound runner also holds offers from other major programs such as LSU, Georgia and Texas, but expect that list to continue to grow throughout the summer, especially if the coronavirus starts to let up and a few camps still happen.

Here is what 247Sports prospect analyst Gabe Brooks had to say about Blue back in October of 2018:

Adequate size with above average build. Flashes great initial burst and acceleration. Hits the hole hard and gets downhill in a hurry. Produced strong numbers as a sophomore against Texas 6A competition. More slasher than juker but shows above average foot quickness in the hole. Agile enough to make defenders miss at the second level. Slippery strong vs. arm tackles. Good top-end speed backed by 10.97 100 as a freshman. On-field speed may be still catching up to track times. Can finish runs more consistently. One of Texas’ top running backs in the 2022 class.

Stay tuned for more updates around the recruiting world for the Crimson Tide from Roll Tide Wire!

After being verbally committed to the University of Oklahoma for quite some time, highly sought-after running back, Jase McClellan flipped and signed with Alabama as a member of the 2020 recruiting class.

The four-star back helped take his team, Aledo High, to the 5A Texas High School State Championships where they would defeat Fort Bend Marshal with a final score of 45-42 in AT&T Stadium.

McClellan made sure his presence was felt and gave Crimson Tide fans a sneak peek of what they should expect when the No. 6 nationally ranked running back becomes a member of the Alabama family.

McClellan finishes his Senior season with some very impressive stats.

In only eight games played, he managed to take 168 carries for 1,268 yards and 27 touchdowns. It is also worth noting that he rushed for over 100 yards in six of his eight appearances.

His career numbers while in high school are: 645 carries, 5,072 yards, an average of 153.7 yards per game, 27 games with over 100 yards rushing and 102 rushing touchdowns.

Those are numbers just about every high school running back can only dream of.

The State Championship game was just a glimpse into what Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide football program are getting in McClellan, Alabama fans are rightfully excited to see him in crimson and white.
