Air Force at San Diego State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force at San Diego State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Air Force Falcons (4-7, 2-4 Mountain West) and San Diego State Aztecs (3-8, 2-4) meet Saturday. Kickoff from Snapdragon Stadium is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Air Force vs. San Diego State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Air Force isn’t eligible for a bowl after suffering a seventh loss at Army Nov. 2, but it hasn’t given up. The Falcons have rattled off 3 straight victories over Fresno State, Oregon State and Nevada as they look to finish up strong.

Air Force has covered 4 in a row after an 0-7 against-the-spread (ATS) skid to start the season. The Under has gone 4-1 in the past 5 games for the Falcons.

San Diego State has dropped consecutive 41-20 losses to UNLV and Utah State, both on the road, and it has suffered 5 straight losses, while going 1-3 ATS in the past 4 outings.

The Over has cashed in 2 in a row, while going 3-1 in the past 4 games. San Diego State’s defense has been tagged for 41 or more points in those Overs, while allowing 21 or more points in all 10 games against FBS opponents.

Air Force at San Diego State picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 23, San Diego State 15

Moneyline

Air Force (-225) will cost you more than double your potential return, which is quite risky despite the fact it has been on a roll. You can’t play the Falcons straight up at this price, but if you fold them into a multi-leg parlay, it would be OK to use Air Force.

PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

While AIR FORCE -5.5 (-110) has covered 4 in a row, including the past 2 on the road, it is a risky play, so go lightly. The Aztecs are just 1-3 ATS in the past 4 games, but the Falcons still do have a losing overall record despite the recent hot streak.

San Diego State struggled to stop the run, though, allowing 201.0 yards per game on the ground. That will be the difference, as Air Force averages 219.3 rushing yards per contest.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-110) is a small number, but we should see the Air Force defense step up in this game, keeping totals low.

The Under has cashed in 2 straight, and 4 of the past 5 games, for Air Force. While San Diego State’s defense has struggled, and the run game will certainly have its issues against the Falcons, it will be a slow go for Air Force, too.

Go low in this finale for both teams.

Navy at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Navy at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Navy Midshipmen (4-0) and Air Force Falcons (1-3) meet at Falcon Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (CBS/Paramount+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Navy vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Navy is off to a perfect 4-0 start this season after a decisive 41-18 win over UAB, easily covering as a 4.5-point favorite and exceeding the 56-point total. QB Blake Horvath had a standout game, completing 9 of 11 passes for 225 yards with 2 TDs while leading the team in rushing with 84 yards and a score on 13 carries.

The defense stepped up, limiting UAB to just 18 points. As Navy averages 46 points per game but allows 23.5, it’ll need its 68th-ranked defense to tighten up to keep its winning streak alive.

Air Force started strong with a 21-6 win over Merrimack in the opener, but has struggled since. It’s coming off a 31-19 loss as a 4-point favorite at Wyoming Sept. 28. The offense has been underwhelming, totaling only 41 points in the last 3 games.

QB John Busha completed 6 of 13 passes for 115 yards while RB Aiden Calvert rushed for 54 yards and a TD. With an average of only 12.5 points per game (131st in the nation) and a defense allowing 21.3 points (49th), Air Force needs a strong performance to turn its season around.

Navy at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Navy 24, Air Force 10

Moneyline

PASS.

Navy (-375) will win and cover Saturday as the heavy favorite, which is why I’ll save my wager for the spread.

Against the spread

BET NAVY -10 (-110).

While the Falcons will undoubtedly bring their rivalry spirit to the game, their recent struggles can’t be overlooked. With only 2 covers in their last 10 games, they are in a downward spiral.

On the flip side, the Midshipmen are riding high with 3 consecutive covers and have one of the top offenses in college football.

Even though Air Force has had success against Navy in recent years, this matchup feels different. The underdog has performed well historically, but given Air Force’s current state, NAVY -10 (-110) looks like a solid bet for a decisive road victory.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 36.5 (-105).

It’s that time again — service academy Unders!

Betting the Under when Navy and Air Force clash has been a goldmine, with a record of 44-9-1 (83%) in the last 54 matchups between service academies. Sure, a trend alone isn’t enough to justify a bet, but the reasoning behind it is solid.

Both teams rely heavily on run-first offenses that eat up the clock, and they’re built to stop each other’s style of play. Over the last 3 seasons, these games averaged a total of 37.5 points, but only saw 24 combined points scored. Even with a line set at 36.5, there’s still value in betting the Under.

Air Force at Baylor odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force at Baylor odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Baylor Bears (1-1) welcome the Air Force Falcons (1-1) to McLane Stadium Saturday for a prime-time showdown. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Air Force vs. Baylor odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bears throttled the Tarleton State Texans 45-3 to open their season in Week 1 action, covering as a 35-point favorite. Baylor then went on the road and lost 23-12 to the No. 12 Utah Utes, covering as a 14.5-point favorite. The Bears are led by QB Dequan Finn, who has completed 23 of 43 attempts for 307 yards and 3 TDs.

Air Force, which has been notorious for having a strong run game, is only averaging 154 rushing yards per game. The Falcons beat the Merrimack Warriors 21-6 in Week 1, failing to cover as a 30-point favorite, and then lost 17-7 to San Jose State last week as a 3-point home favorite. They are 0-2 against the spread (ATS) and 0-2 Over/Under. Air Force QB John Busha has just a 38.2% completion percentage through 2 games.

Air Force at Baylor picks and predictions

Prediction

Baylor 30, Air Force 13

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no value here. Baylor is far too expensive to take on the moneyline. Avoid this play.

Against the spread

BET BAYLOR -16.5 (-110).

Air Force’s offense just won’t be good enough to keep pace here. The Falcons, typically a dominant rushing team, don’t have a single player who has topped 100 rushing yards in 2 games.

Air Force is 0-2 ATS and has failed to cover each spread by more than 10 points. The Bears haven’t been great, entering the half down 23-3 before Utah’s star QB was sidelined, but are still 2-0 ATS. The Bears beat up on Tarleton State and can separate themselves from weaker opponents.

Back BEARS -16.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 41.5 (-110).

Air Force is going to want to run the ball, and Baylor couldn’t stop Utah on the ground in Week 2 action, allowing its opponent 170 rushing yards. The Falcons should be able to move the ball more and contribute to the total.

Similarly, the Bears will get a much softer defense than Utah and should be able to score frequently, ending with 45 in their Week 1 win. This is a low total considering both Baylor’s first 2 games had a total of 53.5 or greater.

Take OVER 41.5 (-110).

Air Force at Utah State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Air Force at Utah State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 23 Utah State Aggies (23-5, 11-4 MWC) welcome the Air Force Falcons (9-18, 2-13) to Dee Glen Smith Spectrum Friday. Tip is set for 11 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. Utah State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Utah State, No. 23 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, is coming off a 77-73 overtime road win against the Fresno State Bulldogs Tuesday, failing to cover as a 10.5-point favorite. The Aggies are 13-11-2 against the spread (ATS) on the season but just 2-4-1 ATS in their last 7. They have, however, covered 2 straight at home and are 8-3 ATS at home overall.

Air Force lost to the Boise State Broncos 79-48 Tuesday, failing to cover as a 11.5-point underdog. The Falcons are 8-19 ATS on the season and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games, losing 2 of their last 3 games by 29 or more points. The Falcons are led by F Rytis Petraitis, who averages 15.2 points per game.

Air Force at Utah State picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah State 82, Air Force 62

Moneyline

PASS.

The Aggies  (-3000) are far too expensive to take on the moneyline. Avoid this one at all costs.

Against the spread

BET UTAH STATE -17.5 (-104).

The Aggies beat 19th-ranked San Diego State by 5 and Boise State by 19 in their last 2 home games. Utah State is 5-4-1 ATS in its last 10 games and has covered 4 of its last 5 at home. The Aggies have 2 (F Great Osobor and G Mason Falslev) of their top 4 players shooting better than 56% from the field, so the consistency is there for them to score and win big.

As mentioned, Air Force lost at home by 31 to Boise State, the team Utah State beat by 19 at home. The Falcons have failed to cover 3 of their last 4 games as underdogs of 9 points or more.

If there’s something that both teams have consistently done, it is hit the Over. The Aggies are 15-10-1 O/U on the season and have scored at least 77 in 3 of their last 5 games. They, again, have the scoring to consistently put the ball in the bucket.

Three of the Falcons’ top 4 scorers shoot over 47% from the field as well. They are 11-2 O/U in their last 13 games and 19-8 O/U on the season. Expect both offenses to be able to put points on the board.

Air Force at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force Falcons at Colorado State Rams odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Air Force Falcons (7-0, 4-0 Mountain West) and Colorado State Rams (3-4, 1-2) tussle Saturday. Kickoff at Canvas Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. Colorado State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Falcons are fresh off a Saturday road win at Navy. Air Force prevailed 17-6 in covering as a 10.5-point favorite. The Falcons have been most noted for their powerful, best-in-the-nation ground game (306.0 rushing yards per game), but they have also been stout on defense where they are yielding just 223.4 YPG (2nd in FBS).

Colorado State hasn’t beaten Air Force since 2015 (0-6 straight up, 3-3 ATS). The Rams head into this contest off a 25-23 setback at UNLV last Saturday (ATS win as +6.5 underdogs). CSU has a respectable offense, and one that will throw the ball frequently (336.4 passing YPG, 6th in FBS). But the Rams have been spotty on defense, allowing 466.4 YPG (130th in FBS).

Air Force is No. 19 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Air Force at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 27, Colorado State 14

Moneyline

The moneyline pool is full of juice. The prices bordering that pool are out of bounds when it comes to any leverage. PASS.

Against the spread

Air Force was favored by just 12.5 points on Monday, and the line shift, crossing 1 key number and hitting another, takes too much air out of a play on the Falcons. USAFA is coming off a pair of emotional wins — over Wyoming and Navy — and its strength of schedule needs to start weighing down some of its proficient statistical prowess. Early-season routs over Utah State, San Jose State, and San Diego State have not aged well, especially for a Falcon offense that piled up big numbers against those foes.

Figure Colorado State passing as being able to log some come-back points, even it’s in the late-game, back-door cover department.

PASS.

Over/Under

The total has gone Under in 12 of Colorado State’s last 18 games. The Under has also cashed in 5 of the Falcons’ last 6 road games.

And that’s the value play here. Peg Air Force’s offensive capabilities as being inflated due to some earlier games. CSU’s defensive red-zone profile figures as adequate enough to perhaps turn a couple Falcons scores into those of the 3-point variety, and the weather for this one — cold, snow, a bit of a wind — won’t help either offense find paydirt.

TAKE THE UNDER 46.5 (-105).

Air Force at Navy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force at Navy odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Air Force Falcons (6-0) visit the Navy Midshipmen (3-3) on Saturday. Kickoff from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., is set for noon ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. Navy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Air Force knocked off Wyoming 34-27 last week, but failed to cover as a 12.5-point home favorite. QB Zac Larrier went 6 of 9 for 58 yards and a TD while rushing 20 times for 111 yards and a TD. The Falcons gained 356 yards on the ground with 3 TDs as 4 players rushed more than 60 yards.

Navy beat Charlotte 14-0 last week to cover as a 3.5-point road favorite. QB Braxton Woodson went 5 of 14 for 85 yards and a TD through the air while carrying the ball 18 times for 58 yards on the ground. FB Alex Tecza was Navy’s leading rusher with 6 carries for 75 yards and a TD. The Midshipmen have now won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Air Force at Navy picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 27, Navy 16

Moneyline

PASS.

At -400 odds, there is no money to be made betting on the Falcons. They are the rightful favorite in this matchup having not lost a game with their offense looking dominant in each of the victories.

Against the spread

LEAN AIR FORCE -10.5 (-105).

While Navy is playing at home, it has not played well this season. Its 2 dominant wins came against far less superior teams than that of what it will see when it faces Air Force.

On the reverse, Air Force has looked great this season with only a single game being within 1 possession. Its offense has looked good, but its defense has looked even better. Expect a statement victory from the Falcons.

Over/Under

BET OVER 34.5 (-105).

While both teams are run-heavy, both offenses have been high-powered this season. Air Force has scored at least 34 points in all but 1 game this season while Navy has scored at least 24 points in 3 of its 6 games. Expect the clock will continuously run in this game, but also expect many big plays leading to a lot of points.

Analyzing Saturday’s Wyoming at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Wyoming Cowboys (5-1, 2-0 Mountain West) and Air Force Falcons (5-0, 3-0) clash Saturday in Colorado Springs. Kickoff from Falcon Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cowboys vs. Falcons odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Wyoming defeated Fresno State, then ranked No. 24 by the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, as a 6-point underdog last Saturday. A middle-of-the-pack Cowboys rush defense held FSU to just 38 yards, as UW won its 3rd straight game since losing 31-10 to current No. 11 Texas on Sept. 16.

The Falcons figure to test that UW run defense. Air Force runs the ball 60.8 times per game (most in the nation), and it leads FBS tackle football in rushing yards per game (329.8). The Falcons have 4 ball carriers who have registered over 250 yards.

Wyoming at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 28, Wyoming 14

Moneyline

Too much juice.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Air Force is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games. Wyoming is 6-12-1 ATS in its last 19 games on the road.

Wyoming took last year’s meeting 17-14 but you can expect Air Force to get a measure of retribution on this contest at home. Both teams like to run the ball a lot. The Cowboys are adequate in succeeding on the ground; Air Force is prolific.

The Falcons are exceptional when it comes to staying on schedule. Their 5.4 yards per carry helps, and so do some well-timed, change-of-pace pass plays (82.0 YPG). Air Force piles up chain-moving drives with a 4-down philosophy, and when it reaches the red zone, it converts. USAFA’s 85% touchdown rate in the red zone ranks 2nd in the nation.

Air Force is quite good at defending on 1st downs and limiting big plays. UW’s 35.2% 3rd-down conversion rate ranks 11th in the MWC.

Look for some stalled Wyoming drives and an early Air Force lead. The Cowboys’ pass game and Falcons’ aerial defense is not a good match-up for the visitors, and that lead growing past a couple of scores is likely enough.

BACK THE FALCONS -11.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The projected game flow makes the Over stand out, but the slow pace of each team needs to be respected. Forty-one is a big key number in totals betting. An Over 40.5 would make for some partial-unit interest. But PASS on the current offering.

San Diego State at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Diego State at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The San Diego State Aztecs (2-3, 0-1 MWC) and the Air Force Falcons (4-0, 2-0) meet Saturday at Falcon Stadium in USAF Academy, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the San Diego State vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Aztecs are looking to turn things around after dropping 3 consecutive games, including a 34-31 setback at home to Boise State in the conference opener last Friday. The good news is that San Diego State covered as a 4.5-point underdog, and it is 2-0 ATS in the past 2 outings. The 31 points marked the most for San Diego State against an FBS opponent this season, too.

The Falcons started off rather sluggish at San Jose State last Friday, and Air Force trailed 20-17 at the half. However, the Falcons outscored the Spartans 28-0 in the final 30 minutes to comfortably cover, while equaling the total (45) on its own. Air Force has scored 39 or more points in 3 of 4 games, cashing the Over in the previous 2 while also covering in those outings.

San Diego State at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 26, San Diego State 13

Moneyline

Air Force (-410) will cost you over 4 times your potential return, and that’s quite a bit of risk, and not enough reward. There is also the risk of the Falcons falling behind, too, and it isn’t exactly built for playing catch-up, with a primarily ground-based attack. That makes the Falcons even more risky that some others at a high price like this.

PASS.

Against the spread

AIR FORCE -10.5 (-105) is the lean, but go very lightly.

By the way, isn’t it ironic that a team named Air Force primarily keeps the ball on the ground, rarely going to the air? It has just 55.3 passing yards per game, while leading the nation with 340.5 rushing yards per contest.

Defensively, Air Force has been stout, too, allowing very little on the ground or in the air, and that’s not what San Diego State +10.5 (-115) needs as it tries to snap a 3-game skid.

Over/Under

UNDER 42.5 (-110) is a rather low number for this day and age of college football, but Saturday’s game will be more old school, and won’t resemble a video game.

Air Force has a bruising rushing attack, and running the ball keeps the clock moving. The fact that the clock isn’t stopped for 1st downs aids Under bettors even more, especially in games featuring the Falcons.

The Aztecs also have a methodical, lumbering offensive attack, and not a quick strike offense. As such, the Under is the best play in this Mountain West showdown.

Air Force at San Jose State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Air Force at San Jose State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Air Force Falcons (3-0, 1-0 MWC) and the San Jose State Spartans (1-3, 0-0) meet Friday night at Snapdragon Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. San Jose State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Air Force won its first 2 games against Robert Morris of the FCS and Sam Houston State, but it failed to cover in either of those outings. The Falcons got it right in the MWC opener last week in The Springs, posting a 39-21 win over Utah State while covering the 9.5-point number as they cashed an Over (45.5) for the first time this season.

San Jose State was doubled up 56-28 in the opener at USC in Week 0 and it lost 42-17 at Oregon State the following week. The Spartans took it out on Cal Poly of the FCS on Sept. 9, winning 59-3 to cover a 23-point number. It also covered in a narrow 21-17 road loss against a very good Toledo team last Saturday to improve to 3-1 against the spread (ATS). The Under at Toledo was the first after 3 Over results to start.

This is just the 7th meeting between these schools on the gridiron. Air Force owns a 4-2 series edge, although the Spartans won the most recent meeting Oct. 24, 2020, in San Jose with no fans in attendance due to COVID restrictions. The Spartans are 2-1 all-time at home vs. the Falcons.

Air Force at San Jose State picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 31, San Jose State 17

Moneyline

AIR FORCE (-178) isn’t priced too terribly out of line if you don’t want to fiddle with the points, and would rather just pick a winner straight up. A lot of bettors might not like the fact the Falcons are on the road, or some might shy away from the side because it is 3 and a hook. If you want a little insurance, take the Falcons straight up.

Against the spread

AIR FORCE -3.5 (-115) is the play laying the points, however, and I don’t think it will have a lot of difficulty covering.

San Jose State is 3-1 ATS this season and has won 2 of the previous 3 meetings at home in this all-time series, but the Spartans rank 106th in the nation in rushing defense through 4 games, allowing 170.0 yards per game. That’s not a good sign, as the Falcons rank No. 1 in the nation with 320.7 yards per game on the ground.

Over/Under

OVER 46.5 (-105) is the the lean, ever so slightly, but go with a half-unit play at best.

While Air Force is likely to run all over San Jose State, all of the rushing also rags the clock. While it’s just 3 games and the Falcons have played a lot of tomato cans so far, Air Force ranks No. 1 in total yards allowed (179.3), while ranking No. 5 against the pass (135.0) and No. 1 against the run (44.3). The stout defense of Air Force can be attributed to a cakewalk schedule, but San Jose State isn’t exactly a juggernaut, either.
