Air Force at Navy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force at Navy odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Air Force Falcons (6-0) visit the Navy Midshipmen (3-3) on Saturday. Kickoff from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., is set for noon ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. Navy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Air Force knocked off Wyoming 34-27 last week, but failed to cover as a 12.5-point home favorite. QB Zac Larrier went 6 of 9 for 58 yards and a TD while rushing 20 times for 111 yards and a TD. The Falcons gained 356 yards on the ground with 3 TDs as 4 players rushed more than 60 yards.

Navy beat Charlotte 14-0 last week to cover as a 3.5-point road favorite. QB Braxton Woodson went 5 of 14 for 85 yards and a TD through the air while carrying the ball 18 times for 58 yards on the ground. FB Alex Tecza was Navy’s leading rusher with 6 carries for 75 yards and a TD. The Midshipmen have now won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Air Force at Navy picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 27, Navy 16

Moneyline

PASS.

At -400 odds, there is no money to be made betting on the Falcons. They are the rightful favorite in this matchup having not lost a game with their offense looking dominant in each of the victories.

Against the spread

LEAN AIR FORCE -10.5 (-105).

While Navy is playing at home, it has not played well this season. Its 2 dominant wins came against far less superior teams than that of what it will see when it faces Air Force.

On the reverse, Air Force has looked great this season with only a single game being within 1 possession. Its offense has looked good, but its defense has looked even better. Expect a statement victory from the Falcons.

Over/Under

BET OVER 34.5 (-105).

While both teams are run-heavy, both offenses have been high-powered this season. Air Force has scored at least 34 points in all but 1 game this season while Navy has scored at least 24 points in 3 of its 6 games. Expect the clock will continuously run in this game, but also expect many big plays leading to a lot of points.

Navy at Memphis odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Navy at Memphis odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Navy Midshipmen (1-1) and the Memphis Tigers (2-0) meet Thursday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Navy vs. Memphis odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Midshipmen head into this American Athletic Conference (AAC) opener with a 42-3 setback against Notre Dame in Dublin and a 24-0 victory over Wagner of the FCS. The Middies have failed to cover the spread in both outings so far, while cashing the Under in each contest.

The Tigers are off to a 2-0 straight up (SU) start, while splitting against the number and on totals. Memphis picked up a 37-3 road win at Arkansas State of the Sun Belt Conference, cashing as a 21-point favorite as the Under (57) cashed last time out. The team’s 1st win was against Bethune Cookman of the FCS, a 56-14 rout as the Over (59.5) connected.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Navy +14.5 (-105) | Memphis -14.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 47.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Navy at Memphis picks and predictions

Prediction

Memphis 38, Navy 17

Moneyline

Memphis (-650) will cost you 6 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk and not enough reward.

The Tigers lead the series 5-3 since Navy joined the AAC in 2015 for football. The Middies won 3 of the 1st 4 meetings, but the Tigers have dominated the series since, winning the last 4 in the series, with 3 of those victories coming by 12 or more points. The last 2 wins have been by an average of 20.0 points per game (PPG).

PASS.

Against the spread

MEMPHIS -14.5 (-115) is the play in this conference opener, especially at home.

Navy +14.5 (-105) has really struggled to put points on the board, as even Wagner held down the normally potent rushing attack of the Midshipmen. Navy’s defense did its job, but the Middies managed just 18 first downs against the FCS opponent, while going 4 of 13 on 3rd-down efficiency. And Navy won just 24-0 despite a plus-2 turnover ratio.

On the flip side, the Tigers have racked up 93 points in 2 games, while allowing just 17 total points. The offense is potent, and the Midshipmen don’t have the horses to keep up.

Over/Under

OVER 47.5 (-110) is the play Thursday night, and the Tigers might do most of the heavy lifting. Again, Memphis has scored 37 or more points in each of its 2 games to date.

Navy hasn’t had any modicum of success on offense, so that’s why you need to be a little cautious here. But Memphis has rolled up plenty of points this season, and it has dominated against Navy in the past 2 seasons. Look for the total to get into the 50’s.

Navy vs. Notre Dame odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Navy vs. Notre Dame odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The 2023 college football season kicks off on Saturday as the Navy Midshipmen and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lock horns at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET (NBC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Navy vs. Notre Dame odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Midshipmen kick off a new era of football, as Brian Newberry coaches his 1st game at the Naval Academy, taking over for the departed Ken Niumatalolo. Offensive coordinator Grant Chesnut is also new, and it appears Navy will spice things up a bit on offense. The Middies will still use a ground-based attack, but there should be a little more of the aerials, which would make the Blue Angels proud.

The Fighting Irish turn to QB Sam Hartman to get Notre Dame back into the national championship picture. Coach Marcus Freeman nabbed the signal caller via the transfer portal after liking what he saw from the QB at Wake Forest.

The Irish eked out a 35-32 win over the Middies in Baltimore last season, winning for the 5th straight season in the series. Navy’s last win in the series came in Jacksonville, Fla., on Nov. 5, 2016, a 28-27 thriller.

Notre Dame is No. 13 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Navy +20.5 (-110) | Notre Dame -20.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 49 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Navy vs. Notre Dame picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 38, Navy 13

Moneyline

Notre Dame (-1400) is going to win this game, and it won’t have anything to do with being in Ireland, or the luck of the Irish. It is just the better team, by far, and much more balanced, too.

However, you cannot risk 14 times your potential return, no matter how sure of a thing it looks to be. Over the long haul, betting such heavy favorites is a recipe for disaster.

PASS.

Against the spread

I believe NOTRE DAME -20.5 (-110) opens with a dominant performance overseas. Navy +20.5 (-110) is looking to get back to its 2019 form, where it led the nation in rushing and won 11 games. The run game has fallen off in recent seasons, and the pass game has not quite filled the void. That’s why they have had a precipitous drop in victories. Now, we have a new regime, and it might be a slow start trying to get their footing, especially against a national power.

I don’t like this line, but as long as it stays under 21, it is a decent play. Navy will make it interesting early, as RB Daba Fofana and QB Tai Lavatai keep them in it. However, look for the Irish to pull away late.

Over/Under

OVER 49 (-110) is the slight lean. I think Hartman is able to generate plenty of offense against a Navy defense which no longer has the dominant tackling machine John Marshall. While the defensive backs should be one of the better units for the Middies, they’ll be tested early and often, and eventually they’ll likely wear down in the second half.

Army vs. Navy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Army vs. Navy odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (4-7) take on the Army Black Knights (5-6) Saturday in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Army vs. Navy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The final game of the college football regular season has arrived and the Army-Navy game is always special. Everyone loves this fast-moving, run the ball every down game between 2 great institutions. Always a hard game to call, the best part comes at the end when the opposing teams sing the school songs facing each other’s cadets.

Air Force has already locked up the Commander-in-Chief trophy after beating both teams. But there is only one Army-Navy game. It is not about hatred like Ohio State vs. Michigan. It is simply about pride, honor, respect, and competition. After this game is over, many of these men will be deployed overseas together. But for one day, they are combatants facing off against each other on the playing field. This is not life, it is sports. But what a special sports event it is.

Army vs. Navy picks and predictions

Prediction

Army 16, Navy 13

Moneyline

BET ARMY +120.

Army started off strong before slipping in the middle of the season. After a 10-9 loss to Troy, the Black Knights trounced Connecticut 34-17 and UMass 44-7 to enter this game 5-6 and hoping to get to .500 for the season.

After a terrible start including a 14-7 loss to Delaware, the Midshipmen have tried to fight until the end. A close 35-32 loss to Notre Dame was followed by a 17-14 win against UCF. A team which landed in the American Athletic Conference Championship game against Tulane.

This game will be a struggle for both teams, but Army is the better side, and they should win this game. As +120 underdogs, I will take the Black Knights moneyline over the spread.

Against the spread

PASS.

With my feeling that Army will win this game, I will not make a wager on the spread. Instead, I will save .30 and take the moneyline for the Black Knights.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 32 (-110).

Service academy games consistently go Under the posted total. According to  CBS Sports, since 2005 the service academy games have a record of 43-9-1 to the Under the posted total. While this is not a certainty, it is a trend I am willing to trust. Under 32 (-110) is my favorite play.

Navy at UCF odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Navy at UCF odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (3-7, 3-4 AAC) meet the No. 18 UCF Knights (8-2, 5-1) Saturday at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Navy vs. UCF odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Midshipmen, who were 17-point underdogs, put up quite the fight in a neutral-site battle against rival and then-No. 25 Notre Dame last Saturday, falling 35-32 in Baltimore. Navy covered the spread for the 2nd game in a row and 6th time in the past 8 games. The Over is 5-1 in the Middies’ past 6.

The Knights, ranked No. 20 in the College Football Playoff rankings, are vying for a spot in the AAC Championship Game. UCF is tied with Cincinnati for 2nd place in the league standings, but it holds the tiebreaker with a head-to-head win Oct. 29.

Navy at UCF picks and predictions

Prediction

UCF 34, Navy 17

Moneyline

UCF (-800) will cost 8 times your potential return, and that’s too much risk.

Navy isn’t likely to put up as much fight as last week as this isn’t as much of a rivalry game. Plus, the Middies are no longer bowl eligible, so it’s unlikely they’ll be terribly motivated here.

PASS.

Against the spread

UCF -15.5 (-111) is worth a play laying the points as the Knights look for a 4th consecutive cover. The Knights have covered all 3 of their home games inside the conference, too.

Surprisingly, Navy has covered all 4 of its road games this season, but again, after a 7th loss clinched a losing season and no bowl bid, the Middies are likely to be disinterested.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 52.5 (-111).

While the Over has cashed in 5 of the past 6 games for the Midshipmen, the Under is 6-2 in their past 8 road outings, while cashing at a 4-1 clip in the past 5 against teams with a winning record. For UCF, the Under has hit in 4 of the past 5 games at home.

Notre Dame vs. Navy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Notre Dame vs. Navy odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 25 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-3) meet the Navy Midshipmen (3-6) Saturday on a neutral field at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (ABC). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Notre Dame vs. Navy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports

The Fighting Irish picked up a giant win last week against previously unbeaten Clemson, routing the Tigers 35-14 as 4-point home underdogs. Notre Dame moved to No. 20 on the College Football Playoff standings with the victory.

Notre Dame has scored 35 or more points in 3 straight games — all Over results — after opening 5-1 to the Under in its first 6 games.

The Midshipmen have to win out to become eligible for a bowl game, so for all intents and purposes, their postseason begins Saturday. Navy enters just 1-3 SU across its last 4 outings, but it is a respectable 5-2 ATS in the previous 7 games overall.

Notre Dame vs. Navy picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 34, Navy 13

Moneyline

Notre Dame (-900) will cost you 9 times your potential return in this rivalry game in Baltimore.

Navy catches the Irish at absolutely the worst time this season, as Notre Dame enters brimming with confidence after slaying the Tigers. Still, you can’t lay this kind of money on the Irish for such little return.

PASS.

Against the spread

Playing NOTRE DAME -14.5 (-109) has its risks, especially due to that hook. It would be much more attractive laying less than 2 TDs. Still, this is an Irish team which lit up Clemson by 21 points, and Navy +14.5 (-111) has a much less potent offense.

The key here is the Irish rush defense, which holds the opposition to just 124.3 yards per game on the ground, 35th in the nation. The Middies won’t be able to pass themselves back into the game, and it might snowball pretty badly if Navy falls behind early.

Over/Under

OVER 40.5 (-108) is the best play on the board here, so play it pretty heavily.

Notre Dame has a pretty good chance of racking up enough points to make it go Over on its own if the run game simply hits its averages. Notre Dame runs for 195.1 yards per game, 29th in the country. While Navy is also a running team and running usually means the clock keeps moving and get Under results, this is a super low number.

Navy at SMU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Navy at SMU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (2-3, 2-1 AAC) and the SMU Mustangs (2-3, 0-1) meet in a conference game Friday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Navy vs. SMU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Midshipmen started off slowly, including an outright loss to Delaware of the FCS as a 13-point favorite in the opener. However, Navy has wins in 2 of the last 3 games straight-up, while covering each of the last 3 outings.

The Mustangs opened 2-0 SU/1-1 ATS, but have dropped the last 3 games. That includes a 41-19 drumming from UCF on the road last weekend. SMU struggles to stop the run, and that’s not a good sign against a Navy team which always runs the ball well.

Navy at SMU picks and predictions

Prediction

SMU 34, Navy 27

Moneyline

SMU (-520) will cost you over 5 times your potential return, and that’s just too expensive for a team which cannot play defense very well.

PASS.

Against the spread

NAVY +12.5 (-110) is a strong play in this AAC road game. The Middies have managed an impressive 231.8 yards per game on the ground, ranking 12th overall, while they have mixed in an occasional pass. Navy isn’t scoring a lot of points, but it has picked up the pace lately.

SMU -12.5 (-110) will have difficulty pulling away from Navy, as the Mustangs rank 106th overall with 179.8 rushing yards per game allowed. Whenever SMU scores, Navy should be able to grind out an answer.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-108) is the lean here.

While the Under is 5-1 in the last 6 road games for Navy, the Over has hit in 4 of the last 5 games inside the conference, while going 11-4 in the last 15 against losing teams.

For SMU, the Over has cashed in 4 of the last 5 games at home, while going 4-1 in the last 5 home games against Navy, and 5-2 in the previous 7 meetings in this series overall.

Navy at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Navy at Air Force odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (1-2) cruise into Colorado Springs to battle the Air Force Falcons (3-1) in the first leg to determine the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. Saturday’s kickoff at Falcon Stadium is noon ET. (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Navy vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

After an ugly 17-14 loss against Wyoming with many players battling illness, Air Force bounced back last Saturday with a decisive 48-20 win over Nevada. The Falcons have been favored in every game this season. Their mixture of service academy option with a bit more air attack allows them to score and score often.

Navy has been trying to find itself in recent seasons. Since QB Keenan Reynolds graduated, the Midshipmen have taken a down turn. They started off this season by losing to FCS Delaware 14-7. Even in their 1st victory last Saturday, they only managed to put up 23 points in a double-OT game against East Carolina to win 23-20. This will not be enough offense to win against the Air Force Academy.

Navy at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 27 Navy 7

Money line

PASS. The line is too high to make a wager on Air Force.

Against the spread

Take AIR FORCE -14.5 (-102).

Service Academy games tend to lean under the total. Both teams play option attacks, and this bleeds the clock and number of possessions. Even with this, Air Force is going to score on Navy. With a bit of an aerial attack built into their option, Air Force will get a few more drives than normal. This will lead to them scoring while Navy continues to struggle to do so on their end. While this game is likely to go under, it will be due to Navy being inept more so than Air Force not doing their part. Air Force -14.5 (-102) is my favorite play.

Over/Under

UNDER 37.5 (-110) is the smarter play here.

Not only can Navy not score on offense, but their slow pace will also limit the high-flying offense of the Falcons. Air Force will score, but not enough to get this game to the over. Not with how slow Navy will play. While I like Air Force to cover, I do not see the game being a shootout. I lean toward the Under 37.5 (-110).

Navy at Notre Dame odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Navy Midshipmen at Notre Dame Fighting Irish odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (2-6, 2-4 AAC) and No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1 Independent) meet Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Navy vs. Notre Dame odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Midshipmen had a nightmare start to the season, opening up 0-3, but they have shown no quit. While they’re just 2-4 SU across the past six games, they’re 5-1 ATS during the span with five games decided by one score. Navy won outright at Tulsa 20-17 last week as a 12-point underdog.

The Fighting Irish held off North Carolina last week, winning 44-34. The Irish have scored 31 or more points in three straight, and 27 or more points in seven of eight outings this season. Like Navy, Notre Dame is 5-1 ATS across the past six.

Navy at Notre Dame odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 34, Navy 10

Money line

Notre Dame (-1600) will cost you 16 times your potential return. That’s way too much risk for not much of a reward.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

NOTRE DAME -20.5 (-115) has picked up the pace on offense lately, and the defense has the tools to completely shut down Navy’s rushing attack. The Irish rank 46th in the nation with just 136.3 yards per game allowed on the ground. Notre Dame will build an early lead, and Navy will struggle to get back into the game with its predictable offense.

Over/Under

UNDER 47.5 (-110) is the lean here. Both teams have above-average defensive units, and only one team has a functional 21st century offense. Navy will fall behind and won’t be able to get back into the game with its one-dimensional attack. That’s great news for Under bettors. Plus, Notre Dame will call off the dogs out of respect for the Naval Academy once the game is in hand.

Navy at Tulsa odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Navy Midshipmen at Tulsa Golden Hurricane odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (1-6, 1-4 AAC) travel to meet the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-4, 2-1) Friday at Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Okla. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Navy vs. Tulsa odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Middies put up a tremendous fight against No. 2 Cincinnati last week in Annapolis, falling just 27-20 as 28.5-point underdogs. While Navy has dropped three straight, they’re 4-1 against the spread across the past five outings. The Under is also a perfect 3-0 in the past three for the Midshipmen.

The Golden Hurricane have won back-to-back games for the first time this season, averaging 33.5 points in the two victories. Tulsa’s defense has been the reason for the team’s struggles, allowing at least 28 points in each of the past six. The Over is 5-0-1 during the span.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Navy at Tulsa odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulsa 29, Navy 19

Money line

Tulsa (-450) will cost you 4.5 times your possible winnings. That’s just too steep for a team under .500.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NAVY +10.5 (-108) is a decent play on the road. The Middies are still a run-first team, but they’re just a tick off from past year’s production. Navy averages 212.9 yards per game but just 280.3 total yards per outing overall, good for 127th out of 130 FBS teams. It averages just 17.9 points per game, too.

As for trends, the road team is 7-1 ATS in the previous eight meetings, and the Middies are 4-0 ATS in the past four trips to Tulsa.

Over/Under

OVER 47.5 (-103) is the lean, cashing in five straight for the Golden Hurricane. The Over is also 4-0 in Tulsa’s past four as a favorite, and 4-0 in the past four league outings.

For Navy, the Over has hit in six of the past eight as a road underdog, while going 8-3 in its past 11 against teams with a losing overall record.
