5 Alabama football early signees who are being undervalued

These five signees are being undervalued by most

Wednesday’s early signing day brought a lot of drama for fans around the country, but for the most part, it was business as usual for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Most of Alabama’s signees were already committed to the Tide before signing day, but the flips of running back Kevin Riley and athlete Aeryn Hampton were pleasant surprises for Alabama fans.

As the dust settles from Wednesday’s excitement, we now have a clear look at the freshman class for the Crimson Tide. While quarterback Julian Sayin and athlete Jaylen Mbakwe will steal most of the attention, there are a handful of signees who are being undervalued by most.

Here are a few that stand out:

2024 4-star ATH Aeryn Hampton flips commitment from Texas to Alabama

Merry Flipmas! Alabama was able to flip 2024 four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton from Texas. Hampton elected to sign with Alabama during Day 1 of the early signing period.

It seems like each and every year Alabama is flipping a recruit during the early signing period. More specifically, it feels as if at least one recruit that flips comes from the Lonestar state. On Wednesday, 2024 wide receiver Aeryn Hampton flipped his commitment from Texas to Alabama.

Hampton had committed to the Longhorns two separate times but had kept in contact with the Alabama coaching staff. Recently, Texas added a commitment from 2024 five-star safety Xavier Filsaime and Clemson transfer Andrew Mukuba.

Apparently, that was one of the reasons why Hampton ultimately decided to flip to the Crimson Tide. The product of Daingerfield, Texas will have the opportunity to play either wide receiver or defensive back at Alabama.

Hampton has a track background and has the attributes to contribute early on in Tuscaloosa. He is a huge addition to the ’24 recruiting class.

Alabama looks poised to flip Texas commit Aeryn Hampton

Alabama is making a late push for Aeryn Hampton and might win out.

Texas is having a strong signing day so far, but one recruitment could go against the Longhorns. Alabama head coach Nick Saban and company appear primed to poach long-time Texas target and commit Aeryn Hampton.

The four-star athlete from Daingerfield has caught the attention of several teams, but apparently has made an impression on Nick Saban. As of today, recruiting industry experts Sam Spiegelman and Gerry Hamilton from On3 and Mike Roach and Tom Loy from 247Sports view the Crimson Tide as capable of completing the flip attempt.

The loss would not be the end of the world for the 2024 recruiting class. Texas is still set to bring in four five-stars and three other On3 Top 100 players. Even so, that Saban and company are pushing to flip the big time athlete makes one wonder what the Longhorns will be losing should the Tide win out.

We will keep you updated on the recruiting class as Texas’ signing day continues.

5 recruits that Alabama could flip on early national signing day

There is always room to be made for flipping some of the nation’s top prospects. On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide are hoping that several prospects will flip their commitments from other programs and sign with Alabama.

The wheels are always churning for the Alabama coaching staff on the recruiting trail. There is always work to be done.

In recent years, Alabama fans have realized that enough is never enough. Well, that is how it seems to the fans at least. The coaching staff continues to work effortlessly to flip some of the nation’s top recruits.

In 2023’s recruiting cycle, Alabama was able to flip five-star edge rusher Keon Keeley, five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, and three-star offensive guard Roq Montgomery.

Now, the Crimson Tide are working the phone lines with hopes of flipping several more recruits in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at five recruits that Alabama could potentially flip on early national signing day.

Texas lands commitment from four-star ATH Aeryn Hampton

The Longhorns beat out Alabama for the four-star recruit.

The Longhorns continued their strong start to July on the recruiting trail as they were able to land yet another commitment.

After landing four commitments in the early part of July, the Longhorns learned on Friday that they beat out Alabama for four-star wide receiver Aeryn Hampton. The Daingerfield, Texas product was actually committed to Texas back in February of 2022, but backed off his pledge in November.

Hampton ranks as the No. 23 athlete in the nation and No. 47 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports. With the addition of Hampton, the Longhorns’ class now ranks as the No. 18 class in the country.

In an interview with 247Sports he revealed that Texas is recruiting him for both sides of the ball.

“The relationship I have with coach Gideon, coach Sark and coach Jackson,” he said. “I like playing DB, but they are recruiting me both ways.”

Whether he ends up as a receiver or defensive back in the long run is TBD, but he does mark another huge win for Texas on the recruiting trail.

Four-star WR, Aeryn Hampton, choosing between Alabama and Texas

Alabama listed as one of two finalists for four-star WR Aeryn Hampton

Four-star wide receiver, Aeryn Hampton, a native of Carthage, TX has narrowed down his recruitment to Alabama and Texas. Hampton is a top-200 player in the 2024 class and is listed as the No. 9 athlete in the class, however, I expect him to be a receiver at the next level.

Hampton had previously committed to Baylor on Dec. 8, 2021, before de-committing a month later. Then from February 2022 to November 2022, he was committed to the Longhorns before re-opening his recruitment process again.

Michigan, LSU and Oklahoma are among other notable schools that have offered Hampton. However, all signs indicate that the Tide currently leads the race for his commitment.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Hampton’s recruitment.

Oklahoma set to host over 20 prospects in Norman for Junior Day

Oklahoma is set to host over 20 prospects this weekend in Norman for their March 4th Junior Day,

While there’s no fancy title for it, Norman will be jumping this weekend as Oklahoma will host many prospects from multiple classes. While Oklahoma previously had a Junior Day earlier this year, they’ll be having another round of prospects on campus for an unofficial visit.

The 2024 class has yet to bear any fruits for Oklahoma, but with the sheer number of prospects from said class in town, it’s tough to imagine this drought lasts much longer. If we learned one thing from the last recruiting class under Brent Venables and Co., the Sooners might not start fast, but that doesn’t matter because it’s not a sprint. Recruiting is truly a marathon. And the Sooners are more than willing to go the distance and come out on top.

That said, we’ve compiled a list of all the 2024 names expected on campus this Saturday. Some of the names are players that have previously visited OU, while others are visiting Oklahoma for the first time since receiving an offer.

2024 Prospects

2025 prospects

The list is packed with talent across the board. While some names are just popping up on the Sooners’ radar, Oklahoma has a real shot at making impressions and strengthening bonds with players they already have built relationships.

First impressions can go a long way, so Oklahoma will look to impress this weekend. Names like [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] and [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] stick out because the Sooners have been recruiting them heavily since last year. Newcomers like [autotag]KJ Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Bennett Warren[/autotag], and others are getting to experience Norman for the first time.

Alabama lands in top-seven for 2024 WR Aeryn Hampton

2024 wide receiver Aeryn Hampton has been leaning towards a commitment to Alabama. He added the Crimson Tide to his list of finalists.

Alabama has been trending toward landing a commitment from 2024 wide receiver Aeryn Hampton, who had previously been committed to Texas.

The product of Daingerfield High School is not the first wide receiver that the Crimson Tide has targeted from Texas in the past. Other wide receivers that Alabama was able to land in years past from the school were JoJo Earle, Jaylen Waddle, and Tyrell Shavers.

Hampton is being heavily recruited by wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins as well as other Alabama commits like Perry Thompson and Jaylen Mbakwe. The three competed in a 7-on-7 tournament in Miami several weeks ago.

During his junior season, Hampton hauled in 55 receptions for 1,161 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He also returned two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

At this time, Alabama seems to be the favorite to land a commitment from Hampton.
